To put it simply, a perfect playground for those who seek adventurous off-road driving to Spiti which is not just a place, it is a feeling.
Feel like being on top of the world, as you look down at a tiny truck that lies below Asia's highest suspended Chicham Bridge. After a long riding haul, experience a unique calmness at your pitstop by the vibrant yet peaceful vibes of the 1000-year-old Key monastery that stand aloof on this rugged terrain. Breathe in the fresh air as you sit and relax on the isolated slopes of the highest village while you soak in the magnificent landscapes surrounded by you.
Day 1 : Manali to Kaza via Kunzum Pass
Reach Manali early in the morning and meet a representative who will give you a quick overview of this entire Spiti Valley tour. You will start by hitting the road from Manali towards Kaza. You will be passing through the popular adventure-haven Rohtang Pass and then drive into the stunning brown-badland landscape to approach Chatru and Batal. At 14,931 feet, you will be catching your first chill at the Kunzum Pass and then descend into Losar Village, the first village in Spiti valley. Take a short stopover at Losar and enjoy a hot cup of tea and some snacks. Having warmed up with a cup of tea, you will continue driving through the stunning landscapes and reach Kaza. You will be spending the night at a comfortable hotel in Kaza.
Day 2 : Kaza to Tabo with Detour to Pin Valley
Post breakfast, you will start your drive towards the beautiful Pin Valley. Imagine a national park with an abundance of animals and birds, with some rare plant varieties, a river that gushes when it isn’t frozen and trekking opportunities for the adventure-seekers. The Pin Valley promises all this and more. You will be first visiting the Kungri Monastery and then the beautiful hamlet of Mudh, which is the last motorable village of the Pin Valley. Declared a national park in 1987, Pin Valley is home to at least 12 endangered snow leopards in addition to other animals indigenous to the region like the Siberian ibex, bharal, weasel, red fox, and marten. Birds such as the pika, griffon, golden eagle, bearded vulture, Chukor and Raven will be painting the skies with a pretty picture as you drive through the beautiful Pin Valley. You will then drive to Tabo in the evening to visit the oldest running monastery. Overnight stay at the hotel in Tabo.
Day 3 : Tabo to Langza via Dhankar and Hikkim
After a delicious breakfast, the drive to Dhankar Monastery, perched on the edge of a 300m cliff is a sight to behold and looks straight out of a movie set. An hour trek takes you to the beautiful Dhankar Lake situated above the Dhankar village is a great way to get introduced to High Himalayan Trekking. After Dhankar you will drive on the twisting high roads of Spiti to reach Komic, the highest village in the world with a motor-able road at 4580m. Have the most amazing experience of sending postcards to your loved ones from the World's Highest post office in Hikkim at 4440m. Continue driving on these high roads above 4300m with the magnificent Himalayas jutting in front of your eyes to reach Langza, the most beautiful Himalayan Village with a 6303m Peak Mt. CCKN(Chau Chau Kang Nilda) adorning its backdrop. Overnight dinner and stay at Langza.
Day 4 : Langza to Chandratal via Key Monastery
After breakfast, visit the most iconic monastery at Key. Built on top of a hill, the main shrine is surrounded by residential quarters and administrative buildings that are built in the shape of a pyramid. After absorbing the beauty of this ancient marvel, you’ll further visit the high villages of Kibber and Chicham. Pass through the Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia, that offers awe-inspiring visuals of the valley below. After crossing the Chicham bridge, proceed to Chandratal, the Hidden Blue Jewel of the Himalayan Mountains that literally translates to Moon Lake. The mystical and beautiful Chandratal Lake, with a striking backdrop of Chandra Bhaga mountain range, keeps changing its appearance throughout the day. You can take a stroll around the lake, and then you will drive down to your campsite where you can enjoy a hot supper under the gaze of a million stars. Overnight stay at the camps near Chandratal Lake.
Day 5 : Chandratal Lake to Manali via Rohtang
With the visuals of the stunning Chandratal Lake captured in the minds and cameras, you will continue tracing your steps back towards Manali. You will pass through the walls of the snow at the famous Rohtang Pass to reach Manali where you can choose to explore the markets shopping for souvenirs. Later in the day take a bus or a private taxi towards your next destination.
