Begin your Kilimanjaro climb from the scenic village of Machame. Traverse the forest, ascend over rocks, and cross the Shira Plateau. Traverse under Kibo’s southern face, climb Lava Tower, and conquer the Great Barranco Wall before summiting via Barafu or Kossovo Camp. Enjoy breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak and Kilimanjaro’s volcanic cone. Please note, that this route allows little time for acclimatization and is considered challenging, with lower success rates.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival in Tanzania

  You’ll be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Meet your guide, get briefed on the trek, and do a gear check. Missing gear can be rented on this day.
  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  
  Day 1 – Umbwe Gate to Cave Bivouac Camp (1,800m to 2,850m)
  Hike through Kilimanjaro’s cloud forest to reach Cave Bivouac Camp. The steep trail, approximately 6 hours long, may be slippery at times.
  Elevation Gain: 1,050m
  Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Day 2 : Cave Bivouac to Barranco Camp (2,850m to 3,950m)

  Ascend through the open moorlands, reaching the scenic Barranco Camp, surrounded by giant senecios and lobelias.
  Elevation Gain: 1,100m
  Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Day 3 : Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley (3,950m to 4,200m)

  Scramble up Barranco Wall for panoramic views before descending into Karanga Valley. Elevation Gain: 250m
  Distance: 7km
  Hiking Time: 3-5 hours
  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Day 4 : Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp (4,200m to 4,600m)

  Hike past glaciers and enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Rest in preparation for the final ascent.

  Hiking Time: 3-5 hours
  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

• Day 5 : Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

  Start the ascent around midnight. The most challenging part is the steep trail to Stella Point, but the gradual climb to Uhuru Peak rewards you with incredible views. After reaching the summit, descend to Mweka Camp.

  Elevation Loss: 2,795m
  Hiking Time: 14-16 hours total

• Day 6 : Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,500m)

  After breakfast, hike down through the forest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll be transferred back to Moshi or Arusha.

  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
