Explore the mix of adventure and religion in the Gangotri valley dotted with many temples. The terrain runs into series of ridges and valleys along river Bhagirathi originating from Gaumukh Glacier. The last leg of this journey brings you to Haridwar famous for most spiritual Ghats and Ganga Aarti.
This tour begins and ends at Dehradun Airport, Railway Station. The route to Mussoorie is about 60 Kms from the Airport and about 40 Kms from Dehradun Railway Station. The drive is on a level terrain initially and the last 30 Kms is an uphill and zig-zag drive till Mussoorie. The Mussoorie Harsil Gangotri route is a beautiful drive from Mussoorie and takes you through some unexplored beauty, lush green forests of Uttarkashi, Sukhitop Bhairav Ghati and Gangotri National Park.
Mussoorie popularly known as the Queen of Hills is a popular hill station known for scenic view of snow capped mountain peaks of the Himalayas, modern bungalows, mall road, well-laid gardens, nature walks and overlooking the majestic Doon valley. There are several intriguing tourist locations like Company Garden, Kempty Falls, Gun Hill, Camel’s back road, Jharipani Falls, Mall Road, Bhatta Falls, Sisters Bazar, Landour and nearby towns of Dhanaulti, Kanatal and Tehri.
Harsil is a village situated of the banks of the Bhagirathi River, on the way to Gangotri Dham. It’s an unspoiled and hidden jewel offering peace and serenity in the lap of Himalayas. Situated at a height of 2,620 metres, this town lies 73 km ahead of Uttarkashi, and 25 km before Gangotri National Park. The landscape in Harsil is dotted with many small temples and very dense deodar forests. Mukhwas village, situated only 1km from Harsil is the home of Goddess Gangotri during winters.
Nelong valley is about 25 km from Bhaironghati and 34 km from Gangotri National Park. This unexplored valley is situated at an altitude of around 11,000 feet and has a mountain desert landscape. After the 1962 Indo-China war this valley was reopened for tourists in 2015 which offers a panoramic view of the Tibetan plateau and still has structures which are related to the old trade route. Gartang Galion, a wooden bridge and the Lal Devta temple are such points in the area which fall on the route for Tibet. Nelong valley has ample of exotic wildlife such as Himalayan blue sheep and snow leopards.
Gangotri is the highest temple of Goddess Ganga situated at an altitude of 3,048mts. Its about 90 Km ahead of Uttarkashi and offers scenic splendors of rugged terrains, gushing water of Bhagirathi River and snow clad peaks. Apart from the main shrine the 18km uphill trek from Gangotri takes you to Gaumukh which is the origin of River Ganges. Bhaghirath Shila and Pandava Gufa are religious spots located very close to the Gangotri Dham. The Gangotri National Park is offers a fascinating glimpse into a high-altitude ecosystem, comprising coniferous forests, meadows and glaciers. Besides mammals like bharal, brown bear and snow leopards, it’s also home to 150 species of birds. The temple remains opened from May and get closed on the day of Diwali festival.
Haridwar also known as Hari-Ka-Dwar is a spiritual town on the bank of holy river Ganges and is famous for its Ghats and Ganga Aarti at 'Har Ki Pauri'. Also reffered as Gateway to God, this town has many spritual places like Pawan Dham, Daksh Temple, Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi temple; both can be reached by a ropeway
Day 1 : Dehradun-Mussoorie
The journey begins as we arrive at Jollygrant Airport, on arrival we meet the host and start the road journey to Mussoorie which is 60 Kms from the Airport and takes about 2 hours. We drive via Dehradun which is the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand. The drive from Dehradun to Mussoorie is an uphill drive of about 30 Kms. On arrival at the hotel you get over with the check-in formalities and relax in the alloted room. Evening is free to go out for a walk on the Mall road of Mussoorie from where one gets a very good view of Dehradun Valley. Stay overnight at Mussoorie.
Day 2 : Mussoorie Local
Explore Mussoorie today, visit Chardukan, Landour, Sister Bazar, George Everest during the first half of the day. Post lunch go out to visit Kempty Falls, Company’s Garden and spend rest of the evening at the Mall Road. Stay overnight at Mussoorie.
Day 3 : Mussoorie-Chamba – Uttarkashi – Harsil
Drive further uphill to Harsil today which is about 200 Kms and goes past Chamba, Tehri Lake and Uttarkashi and cross over Sukhitop. Enroute visit Sri Kashi Vishwanath temple is one of the oldest and most sacred of temples in Uttarkashi, situated on bank of river Bhagirathi and Gangnani which is known for hot sulpher water springs.On arrival at Harsil you check-in at the hotel and walk around harsil in the evening. Stay overnight in Harsil
Day 4 : Harsil – Gangotri – Harsil
Go for a day visit to Gangotri Dham which is about 25 Kms from Harsil. Enroute you cross towns of Bhairav Ghati which is also the getaway to Nelong Valley. On arrival at Gangotri Dham you visit the temple and later head back to Bhairavghati to ride the jeeps for 25 Kms safari to Nelong valley. Later return back to Harsil and explore the local trails in the evening. Stay overnight in Harsil.
Day 5 : Harsil -Haridwar
Early morning drive to Haridwar which is about 250 Kms from Harsil. Haridwar also known as Hari Ka Dwar is one of the most holy city in India. On arrival check-in at the hotel and lLater visit by walk at Bara Bazar and attend Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri in the evening. Stay overnight at Haridwar.
Day 6 : Depart Haridwar
Go out to visit Mansa Devi Temple and Chandi Devi temple in the morning or visit Pawan Dham Temple, Jain Temple, Shantikunj Ashram and Daksha Mahadev Temple or one can go for Jungle Safari at Rajaji National Park which starts at 6AM. Later check-out and drive to Airport.
