Day 1: Nairobi - Mount Kenya Base
Depart Nairobi towards Central Kenya highlands and check inn at a Lodge. Have lunch and go for a game drive. Visit the Mount Kenya Caves. These ancient caves were hiding for the Mau Mau freedom fighters during the pre-colonial times. Game viewing opportunity whilst combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendors of an ancient rainforest. Floating 2,195 m high on the flanks of Kenya's highest mountain and secreted deep within her largest forest reserve. Dinner and spent at a lodge / Camp.
Day 2: Mount Kenya Base - Aberdares National Reserve
Arise for breakfast and depart for aberdare National Reserve. Queen Elizabeth learned of her accession to the throne on holiday at the Aberdares. It consists of an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern wall of the rift valley, running roughly 100km north south of Thomson’s Falls. Major attractions are; Lesatima peak, Kinangop peak, waterfalls, walks in the moorlands, Twin hills, Elephant hills and Table Mountains, The Elephants, Second largest population of black rhinos in Salient and Northern. Giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, waterbuck, Grant's gazelle, Thompson's gazelle, cheetah, silver-backed jackal, hartebeest, and baboon are some of the game in the reserve. Dinner and Spent at the Lodge.
Day 3: Aberdares National Reserve - Samburu
Depart for Samburu after breakfast to arrive in the afternoon just in time for lunch. Samburu Game Reserve is situated in the hot and arid fringes of Kenya's vast Northern Frontier District. The area is home to the Samburu tribe, pastoral relatives of the Masai. The landscape is rugged and dramatic - against a backdrop of volcanic mountains, gaunt hills and withered scrub tree punctuate the sparse and dry terrain with clusters of the incredibly hardy desert rose providing the occasional flash of vivid colour. The Ewaso Nyiro river, lifeline of the area, runs along the southern boundary dividing Samburu Game Reserve from Buffalo Springs Reserve. Crocodile and hippo share the river with the many small herds of elephant which bathe and frolic in the muddy brown waters during the heat of the day before returning later to browse on the lush vegetation of the riverine forest. Buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, Beisa Oryx, the long necked gerenuk, Gravy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and the blue shanked Somali ostrich.
Day 4: Shaba & Buffalo Springs
Arise for breakfast and depart for a full day game drive in Shaba National park. Shaba is an extension of Samburu is where Joy Adamson, author of Born Free spent her final years, returning a leopard to the wild. This was the subject of her final book, Queen of Shaba. More recently, Shaba served as the location for the hit series Survivor Africa, which pitted its contestants against the challenges of this wild remote country. The Ewaso Nyiro is also an important water source for the Samburu villages surrounding the reserves. Dinner and spent at a Lodge / Camp in Shaba / Samburu
Day 5: Samburu / Shaba- Lake Elementaiata
Arise for breakfast and have the morning drive enroute to Lake Elementaiata. Elementeita is a small soda lake, nestled in the eastern sweep of the Great Rift Valley. The Lake is surrounded by spectacular country that played an important role in the early colonial history of Kenya.Elementeita is a peaceful and exclusive haven. Walk on the lake shores and enjoy the flamingos and pelican scenery. Zebra, gazelle, eland and warthog families are common here. Dinner and Spent at Lodge / Camp
Day 6: Lake Elementaita - Nairobi
Arise for breakfast and depart for Nairobi. Have lunch at the Canivore.Carnivore restaurant is the ultimate 'Beast of a Feast’. It offers a variety of meat including ostrich, crocodile and camel roasted with Masai swords over charcoal. Delicious side dishes and an exceptional array of sauces complement this fixed price feast that also includes, soup, selection of desserts and Kenyan coffee. Set in attractive tropical gardens, the service and the décor are outstanding.
Vegetarian meals are also available. You will then be transferred to the airport for your flight backhome
