How Can You Reach For The Bali Pass Trek?
To begin with the Bali Pass trek, one has to reach Sankri, which is 200km away from Dehradun. So no matter where you are, you must reach Dehradun, from where you can easily find buses and shared cabs to Sankri. Here are a few convenient commutes to travelling to Dehradun:
By Road: With good road connectivity and NH7, travelling to Dehradun is comfortable no matter where you are travelling. There are also bus services and shared cab facilities available.
By Air: Dehradun has a domestic airport, and many cities have a direct flight to this airport.
By Train: The Dehradun Junction has good connectivity with most cities. You can board Shatabdi, Rajdhani, or Garib-rath for a convenient train journey.
What Is The Best Time To Go On A Bali Pass Trek?
Most people prefer to go on the Bali Pass Trek from May to June. During this time, you can enjoy the transition from snow-covered mountains to green pastures. And this view is undoubtedly worth the experience at least once. You also get to see rhododendrons blooming and making the valleys more vibrant. So if you like photography, you can capture many beautiful dynamic landscapes during this time.
Another good time to go on this trek is from September to October, as the trails freshen up after the monsoon rains, and the tree leaves are transacting towards the autumn phase. Seeing the leaves turning orange can be a soothing experience. You can even capture some of the best autumn landscapes during this time.
To experience snow, plan your trip after November and the best time is March as the weather is not extremely cold. Also, avoid the rainy monsoon season as the trails get slippery, and it gets hard for you to walk.
Reach Dehradun to start this exciting trek.
Drive along the tons river and cross many villages to reach your base camp in Sankri.
On your eight-hour drive from Dehradun to Sankri, you will pass through Purola, Mori, Damta, and Netwar.
Once you reach Sankri, find homestay or campsite accommodation.
Spend the evening learning more about the trek and interacting with the local people.
At night, eat dinner till 8 pm and head to your tent to rest as your trek will start in the morning.
Eat breakfast and get ready to travel to Taluka by car or taxi. (You can even start your trek Taluka instead of Sankri).
After you reach taluka, flex your muscles and prepare to start this trek.
Travel for 10 km to reach a height of 2560 metres.
You will walk through the rocky trails along the Supin river, and you can dip your toes in the gushing flow of the river.
You will see the fields covered with red-coloured cholai crops on the route.
Take short breaks under the pine, walnut, maple, and deodar trees.
Get to know the stories of the local villages from the bypassers.
On the trek, you will pass by the quiet and beautiful village of Osla; you can take a short snack break here.

In the evening, enjoy a nice bonfire and a warm meal.
Time to head to your tent and rest for the night to get energised for tomorrow's trek.
You will walk for 13 km to reach the waterfall camp, which is at the height of 3,350 metres.
Eat your breakfast, bid farewell to the last human settlement, and walk by the Supin river.
Walking down the trail following the Supin river, you will reach Netwar village, where Supin merges with Rupin rover to form Tons River, the biggest tributary of Yamuna river.
Walk on the trails shaded by the deodar trees.
See the incredible Kalanag mountains during this trek.
You will also see the Har Ki Dun valley and Ruinsara valley, which are a few other popular treks in this area.
After you reach the campsite, get a tent accommodation near the stream waterfall.
In the evening, have a good time taking pictures near the waterfall and head back to eat some delicious dinner.
Time to sleep to get your body energised for the trek tomorrow.
Trek for 4 km to reach the mesmerising Ruinsara lake campsite.
Today's trek explores the Himalayas and captures the best landscapes.
Walk through the trails between the forest covered with Pine, Fir, Birch and Rhododendron trees.
After you reach Ruinsara, spend some time relaxing near the lake and exploring the nearby areas. (Runisara lakes form a trio with Marinda and Maldaru).
In the evening, enjoy some local stories near the bonfire.
Next, eat dinner under the starry sky and head to your tent to sleep.
Trek for 5.8 km to reach a height of 4100 metres.
Start your day early, so you reach the Bali Pass campsite by the afternoon.
Walk down the shallow riversides and climb up the beautiful meadow hills.
Get a glance at the Swargarohini ranges on your way.
Today you will also explore Odari. As the name suggests, it means naturally formed caves.
This place has many mythological stories, and people believe it was the home of Bali, the brother of Hanuman.
Bali Pass is one of the best locations to camp in the Himalayan ranges, and the temperature falls to zero degrees in this area.
At night enjoy a warm near a bonfire under the starry sky.
Trek for 15 km to reach the majestic upper Dhammi hills.
Start your trek before 2 am to reach the summit by 8 am.
Once you reach the Dhami, you must climb up for an hour to get the best view of the Himalayan ranges.
Enjoy the view of the Yamuna flowing through the mountains from the top of the mountains.

Once you have enjoyed the view, captured enough memories and eaten some lunch, it's time to reside down to the Dhamni campsite.
You can explore the nearby camp area on the campsite and sit next to the bonfire to relax.
Now it's time to enjoy your dinner in the footstep of one of the tallest Himalayan mountain ranges.
Rest for the night.
Wake up to the magnificent sunrise view.
It's time to wrap up and descend the Himalayas for 15 km.
On your route, you will see the famous Yamunotri shrine.
Keep walking through the magnificent forest.
Once you reach the Janki Chatti, find a homestay or a guesthouse to stay.
After spending another fabulous night in the Himalayas, it's time for you to head back to Dehradun tomorrow.
Once you are in Dehradun, you can either stay in Dehradun for a night or find a train, flight, or bus to return home.
