How Can You Reach For The Borasu Pass Trek?
To begin with the Borasu pass trek, one must reach Sankri Taluka village, approx 212 km away from Dehradun. So no matter where you are, you must reach Dehradun, from where you can easily find buses to Sankri or shared cabs to Taluka. When going on Borasu pass trek, you have two options: take an overnight stay at the Sankri campsite and leave early in the morning for Taluka or directly reach Taluka and rest there for the night before the trek. Here are a few convenient commutes to travelling to Dehradun: By Road: With good road connectivity and NH7, travelling to Dehradun is comfortable no matter where you travel. There are also bus services and shared cab facilities available. By Air: Dehradun has a domestic airport, and many cities have a direct flight to this airport. By Train: The Dehradun Junction has good connectivity with most cities. You can board Shatabdi, Rajdhani, or Garib-rath for a convenient train journey.
When Should You Go On A Borasu Pass Trek?
September and October are the best months to visit the Borasu pass trek. The weather is pleasant, as the air is fresh after monsoon rains. You can also plan this trip for May and July as the weather is very peaceful during this time. Besides that, you also go on this trek during the winter if you want to see the snow-covered mountains. But strictly avoid the monsoons as the trails are very slippery and will ruin your experience.
Where To Start Your Borasu Pass Trek?
When going on the Borasu pass trek, you can start your journey from Sankri or Taluka. Sankri is a small village of 190km where you can easily travel from Dehradun. Taluka is 12km away from Sankri. So no matter where you start, your hiking trip will begin from Taluka.
Day 1 : Dehradun to Sankri: Start your trek from the Abode of Drona!
Start your journey from Dehradun and travel for 190 km to reach Sankri at the height of 1920 metres.
Enjoy the scenic view on your journey and take a break at local stalls to take short snack breaks.
Once you reach Sakri, you can either stay in a guesthouse or find tent accommodation.
In the evening, stroll around the village and interact with people to get more information from people about the trek.
End your day with some warm, delicious meal and rest for the night to energise for tomorrow's hike.
Day 2 : Tomorrow's hike. Day 2S [10KM DRIVE] TALUKA-SEEMA.[14KM TREK]
Start your day with a healthy breakfast.
Now it's time to head towards Taluka village in a Taxi, which is 12 km from here. (You have the option to reach Taluka village instead of Sakri the previous day).
After reaching the Taluka campsite, flex your muscles and prepare to start your trek.
Today you will hike for 10 km to reach the height of 2560 metres.
You will walk by the Supin river and explore Gangad village, which is the gram panchayat for this area.
Finally, you will reach Seema, a small village settlement opposite Osla.
Spend your evening stroll around the village and prepare to eat your meal under the starry sky.
Now it's time to sleep for the night and energise your body for tomorrow.
Day 3 : Seema to Har Ki Dun- Hike to the campsite in the middle of two majestic valleys.[12KM TREK]
Today you will hike 12 km to reach a height of 3510 metres.
As it is the long trek, start your trek early in the morning to reach the Har Ki Dun camp before sunset.
The trails keep getting steeper as you go up this trek.
Situated between two magnificent valleys- Hata glacier and Jaudhara Glacier- Har Ki Dun valley is the perfect spot to capture some incredible landscapes. You can even visit this valley as they are only 6 km from your campsite.
At the end of your day, eat some filling dinner and sit by the bonfire to relax your body.
Now it's time to head to your tent and rest for the night.
Day 4 : Har ki Dun to Ratha Tho- Walk on the snow-covered trails! [5-6KM TREK]
Today you will hike for 5 km to reach the height of 4200 metres.
Start your day with some nutritional breakfast.
You will see the beautiful Marinda Tal on your route, and you can plan a short break here.
Going on this trek during winter, you will see snow-covered mountains majestically looking over you.
You will have enough time to rest and explore the nearby area when you reach Ratha Tho campsite in the afternoon.
Enjoy your evening nearby bonfire, singing and listening to folk stories.
End your day with some tasty dinner and get rested as tomorrow you will reach your final destination.
Day 5 : Ratha Tho to Borasu Pass Base Camp- Spend your night under the limitless starry sky! [6-7KM TREK]
Today you will hike for 4 km to reach the height of 4900 metres.
As the trails in this area get covered with snow, stroll and enjoy the scenic beauty.
You will reach the base camp at Borasu within three to four hours, so you will get lots of time to enjoy the majestic view during daylight.
These Himalayan peaks give you a panoramic view to capture some perfect landscape images.
Enjoy a fantastic meal at the top of the mountains and relax.
Day 6 : Borasu Pass Base Camp to Bonga- Reside down from the Himalayas! [10KM TREK]
Time to descend back and hike for 12 km, which will take around 8-9 hours.
You will see a cradle-shaped Borasu Pass after you cross the two boulders.
Try maintaining your foot grip while trekking downwards from the Himalayas, as the trails are sloppy.
You will walk by the River Baspa, surrounded by open grassland where shepherds bring their sheep.
You can interact with these local shepherds and learn more stories about the area
Day 7 : Bonga to Chitkul- Last day of this incredible trek! [15-16KM TREK]
Today you will trek downwards for 15 km to reach the Chitul campsite.
You will walk through dense forests and see the fields covered with flowers.
As this is the last day of your trek, capture all the best moments and enjoy.
Your Borasu pass trek will end at the Chitkul campsite. So, when you reach here, you have two options: stay here for the night or leave for Sankri in a taxi.
From Sankri, you can leave for Dehradun and continue the journey to your home.

Make your booking one or two months prior in advance. If you cancel the trek due to any reason, it is mandatory to notify us. Cancellation charges will only be effective from the date we get your request to cancel the trek. If the trek gets cancelled from our side due to any reason (heavy snowfall, rainfall, natural disaster etc.) then the refund will not be initiated but we will arrange another trek. The cancellation charges are as follows –(Bank charges deducted are not Refundable) Up to 30 Days – 90% cost is Refundable Between 21 to 30 Days – 50% cost is Refundable Less than 20 Days – No Refund (Refund is initiated within 7-8 business days)
