Tsavo East National Park – Is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 13,747 km². Situated in a semi-arid area previously known as the Taru Desert located near the town of Voi in the Taita-Taveta County of Coast Province. It is named after the Tsavo River, which flows west to the east through the national park, bordering the Chyulu Hills National Park, and the Mkomazi Game Reserve in Tanzania.
Tsavo East National Park is considered one of the world’s bio diversity strongholds, and its popularity is mostly due to the vast amounts of diverse wildlife that can be seen, including lion, elephant, buffalo and the leopard. The park also is also a Sanctuary to a great variety of bird life including the crowned crane, black kite, lovebird and the sacred ibis.
Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park; It is also famous for its large herds of elephant, Amboseli sits pretty at the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro which dominates the landscape.
Lake Naivasha/Crescent Island
The lake and its surrounds are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya’s prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree.
These forests are home to bird life. Naivasha is also known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to it’s shores. Other wild game present are; giraffes buffalo, colobus monkeys and hippo.
Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara Game Reserve is the site of one of the most spectacular phenomenon of the natural world – The Great Annual Wildebeest Migration feted as one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World”, takes place annually from late June to October. On this season, the wildebeests in their troops arrive at the Kenyan border, ready to cross the steep banks of the broad and fast flowing Mara River, the predators- crocodile, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures get the opportunity at different points to prey and feast on them. This crossing is the greatest episode of the entire migration.
Mara Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will most likely see the Big Five on while on Masai Mara Kenya safari.
