Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Paro

    Arrive at Paro valley known for Paddy (rice). Check in hotel and visit Paro Museum an ancient watchtower housing the National Museum, with abundant culture relics. Next visit Paro Dzong built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, perhaps the finest example of Bhutanese architecture as well as a local religious administrative Centre.
    Later visit Dumtseg lhakhang a Chorten-like temple built in 1433 by the iron bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo. It has three floors representing hell, earth and heaven.

  • Day 2 : Paro - Thimphu

    Paro to Thimphu (55km-1½Hours). After breakfast drive to capital city Thimphu (2400m/7875ft) check in hotel and visit Folk heritage Museum which provides glimpse into the traditional Bhutanese life. The artifacts which are kept inside the house remind the visitors about how the rural Bhutanese live today. Next visit will be National Library established in the late 1960s primarily to conserve the literary treasures which form a significant part of Bhutan’s cultural heritage. Later visit Memorial Stupa built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan‘s third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Chorten literally means ‘Seat of Faith’ and Buddhists often call such monuments, the ‘Mind of Buddha. Also visit Handicrafts Shops a wide assortment of colorful, hand woven textiles and other craft products is available for sell. In the Evening, visit Trashi chhodzong “fortress of the glorious religion” was initially erected in 1641 and rebuilt by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in the 1960s. Tashichhodzong houses some ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body.

  • Day 3 : Thimphu - Punakha

    Thimphu to Punakha (70km-3Hours). Today after breakfast you will drive to Punakha (1300m/4265ft) the former capital of Bhutan. On the way after 45 minutes’ drive from Thimphu will reach at highest pass between Thimphu and Punakha the place called Dochula pass (3140m) where you can have a superb view of the Eastern Himalayas on clear day. Proceed to Chhimi Lhakhang a temple dedicated to the Devine Madman and a sacred place where people pray for children. Upon arrival check in hotel and visit Punakha Dzong a very beautiful Bhutanese architecture armed by the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River) rivers, built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of Bhutan which houses some rich Buddhist collections.

  • Day 4 : Punakha - Paro

    Punakha to Paro via Thimphu (125km-4½Hours). After breakfast we will drive back to Paro via Thimphu, if time permits see the left over sightseeing at Thimphu. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang situated at a top small hound overlooking the Thimphu valley was built in the 13th century by the illustrious Lam Phajo Dugom Zhigpo and also visit Sangay Gang the best place for photographers and one could capture the superb view of Thimphu valley on clear sky. On the way back we will visit the small zoo dedicated to the Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. In the Evening drive to Paro.

  • Day 5 : Hike to Bumdra/ Day1

    Hike from Sang Choekor Buddhist College in the Paro valley (2,800 m) to Yak pasture where we camp below Bumdra Monastery (3,800 m)
    The adventure begins with an early morning drive up to the Sang Choekor to meet our ponies

  • Day 6 : Hike to Bumdra/ Day2

    Return hike from Bumdra Monastery camp via Zangto Pelri Monastery & Taktsang Monastery.

    After a hearty breakfast, it is time to either head straight back into the valley or spend a little extra time soaking up the view. Eventually we have to drop

  • Day 7 : Departure
