The forts, palaces, and temples of Rajasthan are visible reminders of the state's long cultural and historical tradition of excellence. Planned activities for a 14-day Historical Rajasthan Tour Package include the following:
Day 1 : Delhi to Pushkar Arrival
Get to Delhi. Grand Tours India will have a representative waiting for you at the airport in Delhi, and from there you will drive the 315 kilometers to Pushkar. When you arrive in Pushkar, a representative from Grand Tours India will help you make your way to the Deluxe Tents. Uniquely designed deluxe tents showcase many of the Marwari arts and crafts while evoking the opulence of the Maharaja's safari and shikar camps of yesteryear. Tents are set up with a veranda, bedroom, and bathroom inside for each guest. A huge open welcome tent with sitting sections and a separate large dining tent offering the finest Rajasthani cuisine is also available.
Pushkar : Pushkar is known for its colorful November fair on kartik poornima (full moon). When desert tribes and camel caravans trade cattle, camels, goats, sheep, clothes, jewelry, and spices, this peaceful village on the holy Pushkar take is thrown into colorful confusion. Thousands of traders, camels, and pilgrims enter the town. On the night of the full moon (Kartik Poornima), everyone takes a holy bath in the lake and conducts religious ceremonies to temple and folk music. Dinner and overnight at Camp
Day 2 : Pushkar
Enjoy a full day at the fair after a substantial meal in the morning. The fair, which was designed as "an explosion of fun, frolic, games, and laughter," is a great place to take pictures and see Rajasthani ladies dressed in their finest traditional attire. There is a lot for people to see and do at the fair.
Day 3 : Pushkar to Deogarh
Drive to Deogarh after a hearty breakfast. Grand Tours India Representatives will be waiting to help you with your transfer to the hotel in Deogarh. Go to Deogarh Mahal, a palace that dates back to the year 1670. The Mahal towers over the neighboring Aravalli Mountains and its rocky, mountainous landscape filled with lakes at a height of 2100 feet above sea level, its imposing battlements, domed turrets, and balconies providing a magnificent outlook. The hotel is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 4 : Deogarh to Udaipur
Have a full breakfast, and then set out for Udaipur. Grand Tours India Representatives will be waiting to help you with your transfer to the hotel as you land in Udaipur. In the late afternoon, take a trip around Lake Pichola. The City Palace, which stretches along the east bank of the lake, is a sight to see, while the south bank features lovely gardens that descend to the water's edge. The hotel is where we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 5 : Udaipur to Jodhpur
After a leisurely morning meal, take in the sights of Udaipur on a guided sightseeing trip. One of India's most enticing metropolises is Udaipur. Beautiful palaces and lakes have made this city famous. Starting with the City Palace and its opulent interiors, a trip to the Garden of Maidens "Sahelion-ki-bari" is a must. After there, stop at the Jain temples at Ranakpur on the way to Jodhpur (an additional 280 kilometers).
Ranakpur Temples : In the 15th century, under the leadership of the enlightened and talented Rajput king Rana Kumbha, the Ranakpur Jain Temple was constructed. The building's basement is 48,000 square feet in size. Over four hundred columns support the domes and pillared halls in these four subsidiary shrines. There are 1,444 total columns, and no two are the same in their ornate carvings. When you get to Jodhpur, a representative from Grand Tours India will meet you at the airport and help you get to your accommodation. The hotel is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 6 : Jodhpur
After a filling breakfast, take in the sights of Jodhpur, Rajasthan's second-largest city. The city of Jodhpur is located on the threshold of the Thar. Rao Jodha, a Rajput leader from the royal house of Rathore, established it. On the itinerary is a visit to Meherangarh Fort, one of the most impressive and fearsome forts in all of the best Rajasthan historical. Its prime location on a natural granite bluff affords visitors breathtaking views of the bustling metropolis below. If you have time, stop by Jaswant Thada as well. The afternoons are yours to do as you want. The hotel is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 7 : Jodhpur to Jaisalmer
Drive to Jaisalmer (280 kilometers) after a hearty breakfast. Grand Tours India Representatives will be waiting to help you with your transfer to the hotel when you arrive in Jaisalmer. Towards the end of the day, take a camel ride out to the Sand Dunes to watch the sunset over the desert while listening to the eerie music of local Rajasthani musicians. A memorable time may be had. The hotel is where we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 8 : Jaisalmer
Patwon-ki-haveli (House of the Brocade Merchants) is the largest and most ornate of the famed havelis of Jaisalmer; it's a great place to start your day after a leisurely breakfast seeing the city's exquisite havelis, or merchant's mansions, which are elaborately ornamented and carved from golden yellow sandstone. The Nathmalji-ki-haveli (The Mansion of Nathmalji) was constructed in the latter half of the nineteenth century and is the last of the major havelis. Gadisar Lake, a large natural oasis that drew Rawal Jaisal here, should be visited at the end of the morning. In the late afternoon, travel to Barra Bagh to see the royal cenotaphs of the Rawals. This is the prime location for taking pictures of the fort and seeing the breathtaking desert sunset. The hotel is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 9 : Jaisalmer to Gajner
Take off for Gajner (280 miles) after a substantial breakfast. Grand Tours India Representatives will be waiting for you at Gajner Airport to transport you to your accommodation. "Jewel in the Thar Desert" best describes Gajner Palace. Maharaja Ganga Singhji of Bikaner commissions the construction of the palace on the lake's edge. This castle, with its lovely lake and surrounding forested regions, continues to serve as a winter home for a variety of migrating birds, the most famous of which is the Imposing Sand Grouse. This region has been set aside as a haven for rare creatures such as the Black Buck, Nilgai, Chinkara, and Wild Boar. We're staying in a hotel for dinner and the night.
Day 10 : A trip from Gajner to Bikaner and next to Jaipur
Morning meal followed by a 280-kilometer trip to Jaipur, stopping in Bikaner. Take in the sights of Bikaner on your trip. This northern Rajasthan desert settlement was established in 1488 by Roa Bikaji, a direct descendant of Jodhpur's founder. Explore the Junagarh Fort, built by Raja Jai Singh, a general in Moghul Emperor Akbar's army, between 1588 and 1593. Keep on driving until you reach Jaipur. Grand Tours India Representatives will be waiting to help you with your transfer to the hotel as you land in Jaipur. The hotel is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 11 : Jaipur
Visit the Amber Fort after a hearty breakfast. This amazing fort lies atop a hill outside Jaipur. You will mount your caparisoned elephant at the bottom of the hill and slowly rise to the main gate. The Fort finished in the early 18th century, took over 100 years to build and today gives a unique glimpse into Moghul ruling families' lifestyles.
Afternoon Jaipur city tour. "The Pink City" is stunningly located among steep hills with old fortifications. The Maharaja's City Palace, including several public rooms, will be on your tour. The royal family's treasures and armaments are here. The Hawa Mahal "Palace of the Winds" and the open-air Jantar Mantar Observatory with its massive astronomical instruments will also be visited. Visit the colorful bazaar before returning to your hotel. Hotel dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12 : Jaipur to Agra
Drive to Agra (56 km) via Fatehpur Sikri after a leisurely breakfast. Visit the Fatehpur Sikri sandstone fortress. The 16th-century fort was abandoned after a few years, leaving it in near-perfect condition. Drive to Agra and check into the hotel. Agra by afternoon. Grand Tours India representatives will assist with hotel transfers in Agra. Enjoy some hotel relaxation. Later, visit the Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shah Jahan to honor his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal "the lady of the Taj". The Taj Mahal is considered the most lavish love monument since the emperor was grieved when Mumtaz died after the delivery of her 14th child after 17 years of marriage. Four lesser domes circle the massive central dome. Fridays are Taj Mahal-free. Visit the hotel. Hotel dinner and overnight stay.
Day 13 : Agra to Delhi
Visit the Red Fort, an architectural marvel that was commissioned by Akbar the Great and completed throughout three Mughal dynasties beginning in 1565 AD. It served as both the Royal family's residence and the military barracks. Start the 203-kilometer trip to Delhi in the afternoon. When you arrive in Delhi, a representative from Grand Tours India will be there to help you get to your hotel. The hotel is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 14 : Delhi
Visit Old Delhi after a good breakfast. Old Delhi is home to Moghul monuments, tiny lanes, and lively bazaars. Drive through the Red Fort, erected in 1648, and take a "rickshaw ride" via "Chandni Chowk" or Silver Street to see and hear this lively road running west from the Fort. Visit the Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, and the Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi's simple memorial. Drive by Lutyens' India Gate and Presidential Palace in New Delhi in the afternoon. Visit the Mughal-era Humayun's tomb, the Taj Mahal's predecessor. Qutab Minar is the historical Rajasthan tour finale. Grand Tours India will help you go to the airport after supper to fly home.
