8 Days Safari: Routing: ( Nairobi - 2 Nights Samburu, 1Night Mt. Kenya - 1Night Lake Nakuru/Lake Naivasha, 3 Nights Masai Mara - Nairobi- Departure)
Note - Safari departs very early from Nairobi and its important to have guests in Nairobi by 0600 hrs for them to participate in this Trip or overnight in Nairobi a day earlier.
Day 1 : Arrival, meet and greet - Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve
Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be met by our airport representative. Our rep will take you through a brief pre-safari orientation before embarking on your dream safari adventure of Kenya. Meet your safari guide then head north through breathtaking scenery dotted with rushing mountain streams and fields of tea and coffee. Before Nanyuki town, you will stop at THE EQUATOR for a memorable EQUATOR BRIEFING and water demonstration. On different hemispheres water spins different directions. After Nanyuki town, you will reach the outpost known as Isiolo, the last major stop on the journey into the remote northern frontier. Descend from the lush highlands to the arid Laikipia Plains and the small oasis of the famed Samburu Game Reserve. Samburu lies on the fringe of the hot and sparsely populated northern region of Kenya. In the afternoon, there will be a game drive returning to your lodge as the sun sets. Dinner and Overnight: Samburu Sopa Lodge, Distance Approx. 350 km. - 5hrs drive.
Day 2 : Samburu Game Reserve
Enjoy a full day on safari in Samburu (morning and afternoon game drives). A place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, Samburu National Reserve lies on the fringes of the vast and arid desert once known as the Northern Frontier District, whose heat-scorched scrublands extend all the way to the jade-green waters of Lake Turkana and beyond. Physically dramatic, the 104 sq km landscape of the Reserve features rocky battlements, craggy scarps, dry river beds and fallen boulders rising out of the thorn scrub against a backdrop of the far-distant hills and the great red table mountain known as Ololokwe. Samburu harbors a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere. Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing in search of Northern Species of Game not seen south of the Equator, such as Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy, Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich. Another creature UNIQUE to these areas is the Long-necked Gerenuk (meaning 'giraffe neck'), a graceful antelope that stands upright on its hind legs to feed on tall bushes which is among the Samburu Special Five ( the reticulated giraffe, longnecked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Grevy zebra and beisa oryx ) never found anywhere else. The Uaso Nyiro River provides bathing pools for hippos, elephants and crocodiles. Keep your eyes open for lion, cheetah, or elusive leopard. There is also a variety of birds like vulturine guinea fowl among others Dinner and Overnight: Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar (B,L,D).

Day 3 : Samburu - Mt. Kenya National Park
Check out after breakfast and embark on your safari to the unique Serena Mountain Lodge Tree Hotel. Set on the slopes of rocky Mt. Kenya, the lodge has a spectacular view over the rain forest, an active waterhole and the surrounding bush. This unique lodge has served as an inspiration to Authors and writers. Among other host of wildlife viewed from the lodge terrace/balcony includes, elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks and occasionally rhinos and the rare leopards. Mount Kenya (5,199 m) is Kenya's highest mountain, a national icon, a climbers' Mecca, the nation's namesake, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site and a wildlife stronghold. One of the world's highest National Parks, it is also an extinct volcano some three and a half million years old and the sacred home of Ngai, God of the Kikuyu tribesmen living around the mountain. Distance Approx: 200kms - 3 hrs drive Dinner and Overnight: Serena Mountain Lodge.
Day 4 : Mt. Kenya - Lake Nakuru National Park/ Lake Naivasha
After an early breakfast, drive southwards past the northern tip of the Aberdare mountains, then descend into the Great Rift Valley where Lake Nakuru is located. You are in Nakuru town (Kenya's fourth largest town) in time for lunch and in the afternoon you have a game drive. Lake Nakuru is a shallow soda lake renown for its huge concentration of flamingoes. Its also a White Rhino Sanctuary. You embark on a drive upon arrival which includes a walk on the shores of the lake to view flamingoes from close range. Keep your eyes open for the elusive Leopard or the famed Tree climbing lions of this park.. After game drive journey to Lake Naivasha, a fresh water lake in the western rim of the Rift Valley with spectacular views of Mt. Longonot and on to the base of dormant volcanoes and the vast wheat and barley farms to the breathtaking and stunning views of the endless plains. Dinner and Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. Distance Approx: 200kms - 3 hrs drive.
Day 5 : Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara Game Reserve
In the morning enjoy a boat ride enroute to the crescent Island renown its beautiful views and remembered for the movie Out of Africa as part of it was filmed there. Enjoy the guided walk in the Island learning about traditional herbal medicine and getting up close to the animals resident in the island. You will meet face to face with among others, Giraffes, gazelles, zebras, wildebeest, African hare and the elusive Africa python snake. Return by boat to the main land with hosts your lodge and rest of the morning at leisure. Lunch at the lodge in Naivasha and after lunch climb the Western Escarpment of the Rift Valley and head towards Masai Mara. With its vast open plains and distinctive flat-topped acacia trees, no visit to Kenya would be complete without a visit here. Enjoying views of picturesque Masai tribesmen herding cattle on the way, you arrive in time for an afternoon game drive includes searching for the Big Five, elephants, Buffalos, lions, Rhinos and leopards, before returning to your lodge as the sun sets! Dinner and overnight - Mara Simba Lodge or similar (B,L,D). Distance Approx. 280 kms - 5 hrs drive. Day 6 : Masai Mara Game Reserve
Pre-breakfast morning game drive in the reserve, a great opportunity to explore the vast flora and fauna of this magnificent reserve. After a rewarding game drive, return to your lodge for late morning breakfast. or A full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes (full day game drive including visits to Mara River, Kenya Tanzania Border Post and a great chance to view the "Big Five" and the great Wildebeest migration. You will have picnic lunch at Hippo Pool.Spend your days in this magnificent savannah country, home to Kenyas most varied animal population. Lion may be seen throughout the park, along with elephant, giraffe and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly spotted, and you may also find rhino. Today you have both pre-breakfast and afternoon game drives. Watch the animal kingdom come to life against the impressive African sunrise and sunsets Dinner and Overnight - Mara Simba Lodge or similar (B,L,D). Masai village. Balloon Safari:
The early morning calm air of the Masai Mara has made possible the introduction of Hot Air Balloon flights, available as an optional extra, from leading lodges and camps in the reserve. (Please reserve early to avoid disappointment for this adventure!). Tour of a hot air balloon ride to see the park from a bird's eye view.
Day 7 : Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Spend your days in this magnificent savannah country, home to Kenyas most varied animal population. Lion may be seen throughout the park, along with elephant, giraffe and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly spotted, and you may also find rhino. Today you have both pre-breakfast and afternoon game drives. Watch the animal kingdom come to life against the impressive African sunrise and sunsets Dinner and Overnight - Mara Simba Lodge or similar (B,L,D).
Day 8 : Masai Mara - Nairobi - Departure
Depart after break fast and journey back to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch at the world renown Carnivore restaurant, this is an African Barbeque restaurant where meat is charcoal roasted and served hot on your plate. Vegetarian Menu available! After lunch, you will be transferred to airport for your outbound flight back home. B,L. Distance 280 kms 5hrs drive.
