Puri is one of the seven most holy places for Hindus in India. Puri is the site of the Govardhana matha, one of the four cardinal institutions established by Adi Shankaracharya, the others being those at Sringeri, Dwaraka and Jyotirmath. Puri is also famous for its annual Ratha Yatra, or "Festival of Chariots", when the deities Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, are brought out of the temple, and placed in a chariot procession. This festival occurs on various dates of the Gregorian calendar, typically in the month of July. The town is famous for its many Mathas (Monasteries of the various Hindu sects). It also houses the relics of many Hindu figures as traditionally it is seen as a holy place to die in or to be cremated. As a result, it has had a disproportionate number of widows.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Bhubaneswar

Welcome to Bhubaneswar - the Capital of Odisha.On arrival at Bhubaneswar airport or Bhubaneswar railway station, If time permits, go for a half-day local sightseeing tour of Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 : Puri

In the morning first having breakfast,second drive to Puri. on the way visit Rajarani Mukteshwar Temple, Dhauli Peace Pagoda, Pipili Appliqué Village and Konark Sun Temple. On arrival, check-in at the hotel and the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Day 3 : Puri

Today, After breakfast proceed on the full day tour.Go for local sightseeing tour of Puri and visit the Jagannath Temple, Loknath Temple, and Gundhicha Temple. Enjoy the rest of the day relaxing at the beach and stay overnight at the hotel.
