Travel to two unique dive locations where you can shore entry dive and snorkel some of the best diving locations on Earth. Stay on the island paradise of Pemba Island and enjoy picnics and candlelight dinners, gentle island walks and enjoy three free dives. More experienced divers can visit dive sites with steep drop offs and incredibly diverse marine life. Enjoy scenic helicopter flights to and from the Island. You will then fly bay to the mainland and travel by car to Nanantha Bay, located on the edge of the continental shelf and home to some of the best dive sites on earth. Stay in an eco lodge and enjoy a stroll down the long stretch of sandy white beach. You will enjoy 3 free dives here as well as explore the mangrove forests by kayak or enjoy whale watching.
Day 1 : Pemba Island
Once you arrive in Pemba you will be met and welcomed by one of the lodge representatives before being shown to the helicopter which will whisk you away along the beautiful coastline to the island paradise of the Quirimbas Archipelago. Once you have landed you can check in and spend the afternoon relaxing. Perhaps enjoy a stroll on the beach or perhaps enjoy a sunset cruise in a traditional local dhow.
Day 2 : Pemba Island
This morning after breakfast you can enjoy a shore entry dive right off the beach. The sea off the island is patrolled by huge Potato Bass, Napolean Wrasse and schools of Hunting Jacks. The protected reefs in the Quirimbas Archipelago offer some of the most spectacular scuba diving in the World. These undisturbed, untouched dive sites are abundant with a variety of fish and corals, and offer a range of depths and reef topography to suit beginner and experienced divers alike.
Day 3 : Pemba
Once again this morning you can enjoy a dive right off the beach in search of green, hawksbill and leatherback turtles, reef sharks, stingrays, devil rays, moray eels grouper, as well as a variety of reef fish such as surgeons, puffers, moorish idols, parrot fish, clown fish, trigger fish and chocolate dip fish. Hard and soft corals are in abundance, with nudibranchs for those who like to spot the smaller stuff!
Day 4 : Pemba
In season you can go on a whale watching expedition in search of humpback whales, whale sharks and manta rays. Dolphins are also commonly seen in and around the island. You will also enjoy another shore dive on this day.
Day 5 : Pemba
Today, you can relax and soak up the tranquil island atmosphere. Perhaps you might like to go snorkeling off the beach. You can also go kayaking around the island to explore the scenic coastline. You can speak to your consultant about adding a barbeque picnic at Turtle Beach for a leisurely lunch on this day too.
Day 6 : Nanantha Bay
After breakfast this morning, the helicopter will collect you can fly you back along Mozambique’s coastline to Pemba. You will then catch a local flight down the coast to Nampula. Once you have landed, a representative from the lodge will collect you for the scenic drive to the pristine and remote Nuarro Lodge where you will be spending the next five nights.
Day 7 : Nanantha Bay
This morning you can enjoy a shore entry dive just 100m off shore in the Nuarro Marine Reserve. Photographers will be delighted with the macro life as you can spot many kinds of shrimps and crabs, snakes and moray eels, nudibranchs, flatworms, and other marine life like gobies, egg cowries, butterfly-fish, wrasse, damsel-fish, blue spotted stingrays and puffer-fish. In the afternoon you can relax on the beach or enjoy a mountain biking expedition.
Day 8 : Nanantha Bay
Spend the day relaxing on the pristine beaches situated between majestic rock formations. Pamper yourself with a delicious picnic by the shore. Do not forget to kayak through the mangroves. Go on a guided tour through the mangroves by boat, which takes around 20 minutes to the entrance of the mangrove, where the kayak route will start for around 30-45 minutes. The tour can only be done between the tides to be able to see crabs, mud-skippers and birds such as the kingfishers.
Day 9 : Nanantha Bay
This morning you will enjoy another dive just off the shore to explore the spectacular world beneath the waves. In the afternoon you might enjoy exploring the Baixo-do-Pinda peninsula by bike. You can cycle down to the old Portuguese lighthouse and enjoy the spectacular views.
Day 10 : Nanantha Bay
Today you will have one last morning dive on the reefs just off the shore in search of shrimps and crabs, moray eels, nudibranchs, egg cowries and butterfly-fish. You could also go on a tour to meet the people of the local village. Tour the local school which is supported by the loge.
Day 11 : Nanantha Bay
This morning after breakfast you will be driven back to Nampula where you will catch an international flight back home or continue on to your next destination.
