Come along with us for a 7 days/6 nights cruise to the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park and Marlborough Sounds. On this magnificent trip you’ll live luxuriously on board, daily enjoy delicious gourmet food, fine wine and the five-star comfort of the ship and explore sanctuaries, historic places, gorgeous islands and stunning beaches on our daily adventures.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Depart Nelson

  After being welcomed on-board by our crew we’ll depart from Nelson Sunday mid-afternoon at 3pm. From here we’ll sail to our anchorage for this evening, Awaroa Bay. On the way you can enjoy some delicious aperitifs, afternoon tea and a cool drink while watching the Abel Tasman panorama passing by. Tonight’s gourmet dinner will be prepared by our chefs who will make sure it will be as outstanding as the scenery.
• Day 2 : Awaroa Bay

  Today we go ashore at Awaroa Bay and explore the area. It is a beautiful area where the surrounding hills are cloaked in native forest and the sand beaches are absolutely picturesque. It is the perfect place for kayaking, swimming and beachcombing. Later, we’ll return to the ship and continue to Tonga Bay where we’ll spend the night.
• Day 3 : Tonga Bay and on to The Anchorage

  Two of the greatest experiences when visiting Abel Tasman are sea kayaking and hiking and today you’ll have the chance to try out both. From Tonga Bay, we’ll glide in our kayaks to the fur seal colony to have a real delightful wildlife encounters before heading south, along the granite and forest coastline to beautiful BarkBay. Watch for little blue penguins along the way. Back on shore we’ll follow a two-hour hike along the coastal walkway to anchorage where our ship will be waiting. The swing bridge at Falls River and native birdsong in the forest are some of the today’s highlights and we might also have the opportunity to cross the Torrent Bay estuary the quick-but-muddy way, if the tide’s out. You are also welcome to spend your day relaxing on-board and enjoy the comfort of the ship.
• Day 4 : Crossing to Okiwi Bay

  Today we are going to visit Okiwi Bay, a bay located within beautiful Croisilles Harbour. This harbour was explored by Dumont D’Urville in 1827 who also named this place after his uncle, the Abbot of Croisilles.
  One of today’s highlights is the scenic helicopter ride over the area where you’ll enjoy the stunning views of the area from the air. Before tonight’s delicious dinner, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the area, either go for a walk or paddle a kayak around the shore.
• Day 5 : French Pass and Admiralty Bay

  Before breakfast there’s time for a refreshing swim before we’ll carry on through French Pass and Admiralty Bay. Here we’ll anchor for the night and spend the day exploring the area which is a great place for wildlife watching. You might spot king shags, blue penguins, gannets, white-fronted terns, molly hawks, petrels or shearwaters which are living in this area or if you are lucky you’ll also see fur seals and dolphins – maybe even an orca or two.
• Day 6 : D'Urville Island

  Today we’ll explore D’Urville Island, where we’ll walk along the tracks to see the areas waterfalls, river pools and huge views. Since this forest is predator-free forest it gives a great opportunity to spot amazing wildlife such as the tui, bellbirds, native robins, weka or the kaka.
  Tonight, after a magnificent dinner which will be hosted by the captain, you can enjoy the rest of your night, relaxing in one of the steamer chairs while listening to the night sounds of this magical place.
  
  Before we’ll start our final journey that will take us across Tasman Bay to Nelson you’ll have time for a refreshing morning swim or go kayaking. While enjoying the glorious views on the way back to Nelson you should watch for dolphins and orca.
