Day 1 : Guwahati
Arrive Guwahati. Received and transfer to Hotel. Evening visit the Shankardev Kalashetra – a cultural centre with a fine deposition of the life and culture of the people of Assam. If time permits visit the Shilpagram – for handloom and handicrafts of the North East. Evening river cruise at Brahmaputra river. Return to hotel. Overnight.
Day 2 : Guwahati-Shillong
After breakfast drive to Kamakhya Temple on the Nilachal Hills. On the way enjoy the ‘Umiam Lake’ near Barapani. Check into hotel on arrival. Evening time permitting, visit police Bazaar - Shillong’s prime location where the wares on sale range from electronics to traditional handicraft, modern clothing to handloom items, vegetables and traditional spices etc. walk around local market.
The city of Shillong derives its name from "Leishyllong" - the Superpower or God who is believed to be residing on the Shillong Peak overlooking the Shillong City. The general area of the state of Meghalaya is often referred to as the "Scotland of the East" in the olden days due to its striking similarity with the Scottish Highlands.
Day 3 : Shillong-Cherrapunjee-Shillong
After breakfast drive to Shillong Peak, one of the highest points in the whole of Meghalaya plateau. Later drive to Cherrapunjee one of the highest rainfall area in the world and visit the Thankharang Park (from where one can see the plains of Bangladesh), Seven Sisters fall, Nohkalikai fall, Mawsmai Cave. Return to Shillong; En-route visit Elephant fall.
Cherrapunjee, locally and officially known as Sohra, is 56 kms from Shillong, and a “must see” destination for all tourists. Apart from being the record holder for the heaviest rainfall, it was the headquarters of the Khasi/Jaintia province during British rule which was however shifted to Shillong in 1864, due to the inconvenience caused by excessive rain during the monsoon months. The average rainfall is 12,000 mm a year and the record for a single day was 2455 mm recorded in 1974 confirming it as the “Wettest place on Earth”.
Day 4 : Shilllong-Mawllynnong Village_Shillong
After breakfast drive to Mawlynnong village, considered to be the cleanest village of India. The route to the village is through the winding roads and panoramic views traveling amidst the clouds in the Shillong plateau. On arrival, start trekking to see the living root bridge found here (about 400 meters from the roadside). After the trek ends, we will take a walk around the village and explore the lifestyle of the people of the village. Return to Shillong.Overnight
Day 5 : Shillong-Kaziranga National Park
After breakfast drive to kaziranga (320kms/5hrs). Reach in the afternoon and check in at jungle resort. Enjoy various activities like swimming, baoting, trekking at nearby village at resort. Overnight
Day 6 : Kaziranga
Early morning Elephant Safari therafter breakfast. After lunch jeep safari thereafter visit a local village, Teaestate, Rubber plantation in around Kaziranga. Overnight at Resort.
Day 7 : Kaziranga-Guwahati
After breakfast drive for Guwahati (220Kms/5hrs). Reach in the hotel and lunch. Thereafter visit Umananda Temple in the midst of the Brahmaputra river by cruise, Nabagraha temple. Evening free for Shopping. Overnight.
Day 8 : Departure
Morning departure transfer to the airport to board flight to onward destination
