Day 1 : Arrive Adelaide
Your magical holiday down under begins today as you arrive into Adelaide this
afternoon via Sydney. Upon arrival you are met and are transferred to your hotel. Check in and relax. Adelaide is a sophisticated city that has preserved its heritage
and links with the past. It’s an elegant, clean and gracious city close to some of the
best metropolitan coastal beaches in Australia. There are close to 50 attractions in
this city of which entry to more than half of them are FREE! Enjoy some amazing
culinary delights at one of Adelaide’s famed Restaurant strips. Overnight in
Adelaide.
Day 2 : Adelaide
This morning, you are taken on a panoramic city tour. Visit the Gouger St
Restaurant precinct and Adelaide Markets, Victoria Square and the King William St
Boulevard, the North Terrace historical and Arts precinct, River Torrens with its
delightful garden banks, the glorious Plane Tree Drive passing the Botanic Gardens, Adelaide Zoo, the Adelaide Oval, North Adelaide's grand and stately homes, visit
Haigh's Chocolate Factory (not on Sundays), The National Wine Centre (visit on
Sundays only), Colonel Light's Lookout on Montefiore Hill affording spectacular
views over Adelaide. Our tour ends in the afternoon at the Adelaide Central Bus
Station. Later stroll along Rundle Mall, a paradise for shoppers and the first shopping street
mall in Australia. We suggest you head out to Glenelg, a mere 15 mins away from the center and
indulge in spending the morning swimming with the dolphins or just enjoying a
divine boat ride aboard the Temptations cruise - the only one of its kind. A visit to
the Central Market, the largest undercover market in the Southern Hemisphere is
definitely worth a visit. Overnight in Adelaide.
Day 3 : Adelaide - Barossa - Adelaide
This morning we take you to the fabulous Barossa. Follow the Torrens River through
the spectacular Torrens Gorge. Skirt Kangaroo Creek Reservoir and Millbrooke
Reservoir, also Williamstown with its beautiful stone buildings, Lyndoch Bakery with
the aroma of fresh coffee and pastries. Enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea and a
German sampler plate of sweet treats. Visit the home of one of the world's best
known wine brands, Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre. Take an exclusive sensory wine
experience and a chance to tour and taste wines from their extensive selection. Take in panoramic views over the Barossa Valley from Menglers Hill lookout. Enjoy
a sumptuous 2 course lunch at Barossa Chateau. Travel through the old mill town of
Woodside and the Adelaide Hills. Visit Australias oldest German settlement
Hahndorf. Stroll under the Elm trees along Hahndorfs main street, see quaint
cottages, craft shops and tea rooms, villages of Crafers, Stirling and Aldgate set
amongst the lush greenness of the Adelaide Hills. Delightful village of Bridgewater
with Bridgewater Mill and Waterwheel. We return back to the hotel later in the
evening. Overnight in Adelaide.
Day 4 : Adelaide - Murray River - Adelaide
After your breakfast enjoy the River Murray Highlights tour which departs Adelaide
and travels to the mighty River Murray. On your arrival, board the Proud Mary and
relax as you cruise the historic river enjoying the wildlife and surrounding scenery. Enjoy lunch on board the Proud Mary as you continue your journey along the river
and gain insight into the river system and unique landscapes of the region. Upon
disembarking, enjoy a tour along the river bank of the River Murray taking in
spectacular views and stopping regularly for great photo opportunities, including
the Mannum Lookout. Travel back to Adelaide via the delightful Adelaide Hills, stopping at Melba's Chocolate Factory and Woodside Cheese Wrights at Woodside, with an opportunity to purchase afternoon tea (own expense). Overnight in
Adelaide.
Day 5 : Adelaide - Kangaroo Island
Depart Adelaide and enjoy a scenic trip through Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis
where you will board the Sealink ferry for the 45 minute journey across Backstairs
Passage to Kangaroo Island. On arrival in Penneshaw, meet your local driver/guide. First stop is Rob's Shearing before heading to Pennington Bay. Continue to Emu
Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South
Australia and visit stunning Seal Bay where you will have the opportunity to get up
close to a wild breeding colony of rare Australian sea-lions. At Little Sahara explore
the huge white sand dunes and test your skills at sand boarding. At Vivonne Bay
Lodge, you will have the opportunity to spend some free time kayaking on the
Harriet River, swimming at Vivonne Bay beach, take a self-guided walk through the
property tracks, go trail bike riding or simply relax. Back at camp there are
complimentary activities to keep you occupied before and after your BBQ meal. As darkness sets see kangaroos, tamar wallabies and possums before heading to
Point Ellen to witness the arrival of the little penguins. On return to camp relax
around the fire (except in summer months) or kick back on the deck with a glass of
local wine before retiring to the comfort of your bed. Vivonne Bay Lodge has 1km of
beachfront access to 'Australia's Best Beach' and a range of activities to choose from
including: Harriet River kayaking, trail mountain biking, self-guided walking trails, games room and table tennis. Overnight in Kangaroo Island.
Day 6 : Kangaroo Island - Adelaide
After breakfast get up close to more wildlife at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where
you will look for koalas nestled up in the eucalypts and see kangaroos grazing on the
open fields. Continue on to Flinders Chase National Park where you will marvel at
Remarkable Rocks, huge granite boulders sculptured by nature. Enjoy the
spectacular coast and seascapes as you head around to Admirals Arch at Cape Du
Couedic where we watch the resident New Zealand fur seals frolic in the ocean or
sunbake on the rocks. Enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre. Head to the
beautiful and secluded 'secret' beach of Stokes bay and take a walk at Ironstone Hill
(time permitting) to find wallabies and admire the spectacular view back to the
mainland. If time and weather permit, several stops may be made en- route to
Penneshaw, allowing time to purchase dinner (own expense) before the return
journey to Adelaide. Overnight in Adelaide.
Day 7 : Depart Adelaide
A fantastic holiday draws to an end today as you drive yourself to the airport and
leave your car there.
