This 12-day tour starts with an introduction to the historical sites and vibrant streets of the Croatian capital Zagreb. From Zagreb, the journey continues to Kumrovec ethno village in the Zagorje region, known for its green hills, vineyards and many medieval castles. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, will be explored next with strolls around the beautiful city center and river Ljubljanica before continuing towards Slovenia’s most popular site, the Postojna Caves. Travelers will visit the caves as well as the stunning Predjama Castle perched high up on a vertical cliff. A visit to the Franja Partisan Hospital, the symbol of the partisan movement in Slovenia, will be made before commencing towards the Croatian Istria peninsula. Istria is full of natural, cultural and historical wonders, which travelers will delve into while visiting towns of Porec, Pula, Vodnjan and Motovun. After a night in the city with the longest tourism tradition in Croatia, Opatija, journey continues towards the Plitvice Lakes National Park. This UNESCO protected site leaves all its visitors marveling at the supreme beauty of the park’s cascading lakes and waterfalls. The first Dalmatian town on the tour is the unique Zadar, a city that captivates with history as well as modern sites such as the Sea Organ. There are two other beautiful coastal towns on the journey, Sibenik and Trogir, both UNESCO sites. A stop will be made at the traditional village estate of Jurlinovi Dvori, an excellent example of rural stone architecture, and a visit to local vineyards before ending the day in Split. Continuing towards the south of Croatia, to the famous Dubrovnik. After sightseeing around the famous Dubrovnik Old Town, and the medieval city walls, tour will end with a tasting of local delicacies in the Konavle region.

Optional 3-day tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina leads from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo, through Mostar and the stunning Neretva Canyon. The tour discovers sites around Sarajevo, the heart of Bosnian culture with a rich tradition and delicious cuisine.

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Zagreb

    Arrival to Zagreb. Welcome to Croatia.

  • Day 2 : Zagreb

    The first day on the journey starts with an introduction to the vibrant capital city of Croatia with a panoramic drive through the historic city center. Optional; traditional “licitari”, colorfully decorated biscuits made of honey dough that are part of Croatia's cultural heritage, workshop or photography tour.

  • Day 3 : Kumrovec, Veliki Tabor, Trakoscan

    The day will be spent discovering the green hills of Zagorje region, a visit to the ethno village and museum Kumrovec and some of the most beautiful medieval castles in continental Croatia. Shopping break in one the areas large malls before returning to Zagreb.

  • Day 4 : Ljubljana

    Departing the Croatian capital city to visit the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana. Relaxing boat tour down stunning Ljubljanica River through the city center of Ljubljana will commence with a traditional lunch.

  • Day 5 : Idrija

    Going off the beaten path in Slovenia, travelers will discover Idrija, a historic mining city and visit a secret partisan hospital Franja, hidden in the Pasice cliff.

  • Day 6 : Postojna Caves, Predjama, Porec

    Tour then continues through Slovenia, visiting the Postojna Caves, the most visited site in the country is an underground kingdom of sparkling stalagmites. Next, travelers will explore the Predjama castle, a magnificent venue settled atop a vertical high cliff for more than 700 years and drive to Istria Peninsula and town of Porec in Croatia.

  • Day 7 : Porec, Motovun

    Morning golden hours are dedicated to exploring historic Porec, including the UNESCO site Euphrasian Basilica, before indulging in green vistas of truffle rich Motovun woods from atop Motovun town and visit to a champagne producer on the way back to Porec.

  • Day 8 : Pula, Vodnjan, Opatija

    The exploration of Istria’s cultural heritage will continue with a tour of the roman Amphitheatre in Pula and an olive oil tasting in Vodnjan before departing towards Opatija, which has been receiving travelers to its beautiful promenades and gardens for the past 150 years.

  • Day 9 : Plitvice Lakes National Park, Zadar

    This day will be spent visiting the magnificent Plitvice Lakes National Park, where nature lovers will marvel at the cascading waterfalls of this World known UNESCO site, before ending the day in the coastal town of Zadar, home to ancient ruins, romantic walks by the sea and unique installations the Sea Orgran and Sun Salutation.

  • Day 10 : Sibenik, Trogir, Split, Jurlinovi Dvori

    A day packed with exploring UNESCO sites along the famous Dalmatian coast includes visits to Sibenik and its magnificent cathedral, the city isle of Trogir and lastly, the Diocletian’s Palace in Split. A stop will be made in Jurlinovi Dvori, a traditional Dalmatian village.

  • Day 11 : Split, Dubrovnik

    Starting with a city tour of Split, its narrow alleys, vibrant Riva and the Diocletian’s Palace UNESCO site before continuing towards Dubrovnik with a stop at Antonic Mill on the gorgeous Cetina River.

  • Day 12 : Dubrovnik and Region

    The last day on the journey will start with a city tour of Dubrovnik, the highlight of many travelers’ journey through Croatia, and its famous city walls adorned by the Adriatic Sea. Stroll the historic streets, visit the oldest working pharmacy in Europe, grab an ice cream and enjoy the views. Later in the day, travelers get to explore Dubrovnik region, picturesque villages, vineyard and mills.
