After breakfast at hotel ride to Khardungla pass and return after sightseeing near by villages. Stay for the first time at 3500 meters. We can also a short morning trip to the monastery Tikse organization. On the main road we drive around and through narrow roads we drive back to Leh. The second day we use for the trip to the La Kardung. This is the highest motorable road in the world at 5,602 meters. We chose this road that we need a special permit after arrival in Leh requested. After breakfast at hotel ride to Sarchu via Pung. A long tough day but a very special landscapes. This section also known as Little Tibet called because it is vast hoogvalkte. The roads are straight and flat but once we drive on over 4000 meters. There is here a lot working on the road and some parts seem even on the Dakar Rally on a journey through Himalayal. Just before we pass Sarchu a fantastic view over a dry rivieerebedding on both sides sandcastle-like shapes. Now the road climbs through a rocky area to Sarchu. This is 4200 meters the highest overnight of the trip. We spend the night in a tent camp. All tents are equipped with private toilet and sink.
After camp breakfast ride to Keylong. The first part of the route we drive across the plateau. Later that day, the surroundings greener and descend slowly declining. Here is more rain and that is also back on the road. More often than previously during this journey you will encounter flooded road sections. But the views of the rocky valleys groende remains impressive. Highest pass at 4880 meters today. Keylong is a small village with a center consisting of a street. It's been a real Indian place. After breakfast at hotel ride to Manali via Rohtang Pass. Although not the highest pass of the trip remains the only Rotang always a big challenge. The pass is right on the borderline between the rainy season in the southern lowlands and the dry mountains. During the period that this trip possible rains almost always. The pass consists of dozens of hairpin bends and the higher we climb the greater the chance of rain. But the higher we go the worse the road surface.
