Jaisalmer :- Jaisalmer, nicknamed "The Golden city", is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 575 kilometres (357 mi) west of the state capital Jaipur. It is a World Heritage Site. It was once known as Jaisalmer state. The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone, crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples are finely sculptured.
It lies in the heart of the Thar Desert (great Indian desert). Jaisalmer is named after Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput king who founded the city."Jaisalmer" means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal". Jaisalmer is sometimes called the "Golden City of India" because the yellow sand and the yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city gives a yellowish-golden tinge to the city and its surrounding area.
It is the largest district of Rajasthan and one of the largest in the country. On the present map, district Jaisalmer is bounded on the north by Bikaner, on the west & south-west by the Pakistani border, on the south by Barmer and Jodhpur, and on the east by Jodhpur and Bikaner Districts. Jaisalmer is major and one of the most preferred event organizing destinations in Rajasthan.
Tourism is a major industry in Jaisalmer. While Jaisalmer may always have been remote, it is filled with many artistic structures and monuments of local historical importance. Sand Dunes :- Sand Dunes, the hills of sand created by wind have a capturing charm and give a real experience of the Desert state – Rajasthan. The sand dunes constantly change their appearance with the movements of wind. Tourists are immensely attracted towards sand dunes and the best place to have a dip in the ocean of sand is – Sam Sand Dunes located just 42kms from Jaisalmer.
The picturesque beauty of sand dunes here is amazing as wind unceasingly carves out scenic patterns on the desert sand; the colour changing with the shift of the shadow with passing time ripples on the dunes create an enchanting mirage. The sunsets on the sand dunes are simply divine and magical. The best way to enjoy the sand dunes is by a camel safari trip. It is a completely mesmerising experience for every visitor who comes to Rajasthan’s sand dunes. Trips of the Sam Sand dunes can be done on the ship of the desert, the camel.
The camel safaris are organised from Jaisalmer which is the closest town from the deserts. The camels known as the lifeline for the desert people, as their major mode of transportation depend on camels only. Day 1 : Pick Up From Jodhpur Airport/Railway Station And Local Sightseeing
Arrival at Jodhpur and transfer to Hotel. The second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chief belonging to the Rathore clan. Jodhpur is also known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year and the "Blue City" because most of its houses in the old city are painted indigo. Evening visit Clock Tower and local market of Jodhpur. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 : Visit To Mehrangarh Fort And Local Sightseeing
After breakfast proceed to visit the Mehrangarh Fort, situated on a low sandstone Hill, including Moti-Mahal and Phool Mahal. Also visit Jaswant Thada, an imposing Marble Memoriam built in 1899 and the museum located in the Umaid Public Gardens. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 : Hotel Check-out Drive To Sam Dunes And Enjoy The Evening
After breakfast, drive to Sam Dunes. Arrive and check in at camp later experience camel safari/jeep safari (at your own cost) at the sand dunes. Overnight at camp.
Day 4 : Local Sightseeing At Jaisalmer
After breakfast drive to Jaisalmer. Visit the Fort, Bazars and the old mansions known as "Havelis". People still live in these ancient buildings dating from 12th to 15th century. Every house has exquisite carvings and filigreed work. Evening Overnight at Hotel.
Day 5 : Hotel Check-out And Drop At Airport/Railway Station
After breakfast, proceed for your onwards destination.
