Agra, the city of the Taj, as it is known all over the world,know Agra for its superb inlay work on marble and soapstone. Though its political significance ended with the transfer of the capital to Delhi in 1634 by Shah Jahan, it's architectural wealth has definitely secured international fame for carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes. Mathura, a little town on the River Yamuna is synonymous with Lord Krishna who is believed have been born here, Places of interest include: Jama Masjid, Vishram Ghat, Dwarkadheesh Temple, Archaeological Museum, Mansarovar, Govardhan Hill, usuma Sarovara and Holy Tirthas.
Day 1 : Arrive in Delhi
On arrival, assistance and transfer to hotel. Afternoon half day city tour of Delhi, visiting Laxmi Narayan Temple, Raj Ghat, Drive Pass Government buildings and Parliament House, India Gate and Lotus Temple, Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2 : Delhi - Mathura - Agra
Drive to Mathura - city associated with the most revered of Hindu Gods - Lord Krishna which is sacred being, The birth place of Lord Krishna, The surroundings 'Braj Bhoomi' is where Lord Krishna is supposed to have grown up. On arrival, check in at hotel.
Afternoon visit Vrindavan, where Lord Krishna spent his childhood days, played the flute, sporting with the Gopis and where Radhika pined for her lover. Visit the Govind Dev Temple - built in 1590 and a testimony to the architectural splendor of medieval India. Proceed to Rangaji Temple - Vrindavan's longest temple constructed in 1851 with 50 feet tall 'Dhwaja Stambha' believed to be gold - plated. Continue to Madan Mohan Temple situated near Kali Ghat, Glass Temple and the Bankey Bihari Temple - one of the oldest temples built in 1921. Drive to Agra and check-in to the hotel.
Day 3 : Agra - Delhi
Morning visit the incomparable Taj Mahal. This monument a fine example of fusion of many architectural styles is one often wonders of the modern world. Built in 1652 by Emperor Shah Jahan. It took 22 years and 20,000 skilled artisans to complete this poem in white marble. In the afternoon visit the Agra Fort which lies across the river Jamuna. It was here that Aurangzeb the third son of Shah Jahan kept his father under house arrest. One can get the most moving view of the Taj from the little octagonal tower in the Fort after lunch Proceed to Delhi, Transfer to airport to connect flight for onward journey.(Taj Mahal is closed every Friday).
