Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival in Delhi, Enjoy Delhi Sightseeing

    Meet & greet on arrival at the the New Delhi airport
    Our company representative will receive and assist you.
    Drive to the hotel and check in.
    P.M.
    We leave for a half day city tour of Delhi.
    New Delhi, the capital, was designed by Sir Edward Lutyens. We first start the day visiting:-
    2:30 p.m. – We drive for an interesting drive passing through the impressive Rajpath, World War I memorial arch, the India Gate towards the Presidential Palace and the Parliament house.
    4:00p.m. – The Qutub Minar, 72 metres high and the most curious minaret architecture. Visit the uncorroded Iron Pillar, which dates back to the 4th century AD.
    6:00 p.m. – Enjoy shopping in Dilli Haat. Situated in the heart of Delhi, the unique Delhi Haat is an upgraded version of the traditional weekly market, offering a delightful amalgam of craft, food & cultural activities offering a kaleidoscopic view of the richness and diversity of Indian handicrafts & artifacts.
    Enjoy delicious dinner in Dilli Haat
    9:00 p.m. – On the return back to the hotel, we again pass through the Raj path area crossing brilliantly lit India Gate and the President’s house. A great photo opportunity for the enthusiasts.

  • Day 2 : Delhi to Jaipur (263 Kms/ 5- 6 Hours)

    All guests to assemble in the Hotel lobby at 9:00 a.m. after breakfast.
    Post Breakfast, drive to embark on a leisurely drive to Jaipur – land of the Rajputs. Jaipur is an exuberance of colour, dance & traditional arts & crafts. Known, as the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is home to ancient forts, palaces and is one of India’s most well planned cities

    4p.m. – We all again assemble in the hotel lobby for a shopping experience of Jaipur. Shopping can be a unique experience is Jaipur and thanks should go, in a large sense, to its founder, Sawai Jai Singh. As a patron of the arts and crafts and as a wise planner, Swai Jai Singh freely invited craftsmen and artists to the city at its foundation.     For handicrafts like puppets, bandhanwars, wall hangings, white metal artifacts we will go to Linking Road in Bapu Bazaar next to Saraogi Mansion. Nehru Bazaar is also a must visit place for textiles, local perfumes, shoes made of camel skin (jutties/ mojaries), Rajasthani trinkets and bandhani work.
    After shopping, we drive for a delicious dinner in Spice Court. It is one of the supreme multi cuisines restaurants in town. Activities like Puppet Shows, Churi(Indian Bangles) Shops, Chinese Fiesta etc keep the visitors hooked to the delight of eating food at the restaurant.

  • Day 3 : Full Day Jaipur Sightseeing

    Today we will visit the elegant Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) – this elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted with delicate screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world.
    Visit Maharajah’s City Palace, now partly a museum displays a unique fusion of Mughal and Hindu architecture, and house a rare collection of paintings, Rajput armory and costumes

    3:00 p.m. – Visit the dramatic hilltop fortress at Amber; a fine amalgamation of Hindu and Muslim architecture and ornamentation, built in the 16th century. An elephant ride (at extra cost) will help you ascend to this hilltop fort. Enjoy the elephant ride, like the Maharajah’s used to. Alternatively, you could take a jeep ride (at extra cost) up to the fort.
    Drive back to the Hotel
    Evening free at leisure
    Dinner in the hotel and overnight
    MEALS:- BREAKFAST AND DINNER
    DAY 04:- JAIPUR TO AGRA (288 KMS/ 5.30 HRS.)
    A.M.
    Meet in the Hotel lobby at 8:00 a.m. after breakfast, we will drive to Agra Enroute visit the ghost town of Fatehpur sikri. Built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only some 10 years. The complex of monuments and temples, all in a uniform architectural style.
    Arrival at Agra, Check into the Hotel
    P.M.
    3:00 p.m. – Post Lunch, we visit the world famous Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan. The cars/ coaches are parked about 1km from the Taj. Every visitor has to take battery run buses to reach the Taj.
    The first and the most attractive of all the attractions is the Taj Mahal that was built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife. It is the most graceful and extravagant monument found in India. It is built with pure white marble that takes different shades at the different times of the day. It is best seen in the full moon night when the monument shines with its white silver glory.
    Later visit the Agra Fort containing the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Agra fort is a huge fort built in red stone in the year 1565 by Akbar. The fort had over 500 buildings in which many were made of marble. At that period river Yamuna touched the fort and that is why the fort had many Ghats so that goods could be brought in and out of the fort. The fort has great palaces that boast of its richness and its great walls speak a lot about the power and the might of the kind.
    After visiting the Taj Mahal & Agra fort, everyone wants to take a souvenir back home. We shop for handicrafts & souvenir Drive back to the Hotel

  • Day 4 : Agra to Jhansi (via Bhopal Shatabadi) Drive to Orchha

    All guests to assemble in the Hotel lobby at 6:30 a.m. We drive to the Agra Cantt. Railway station to board the Bhopal Shatabadi train to Jhansi (12002 BHOPAL SHTBDI 08:00 hrs to 11:00 hrs.).
    11:30 hrs- Arrival at Jhansi Railway Station, our Driver will receive you and transfer to Orchha (17 kms)
    ORCHHA- Orchha , now a small hamlet in the state of Madhya Pradesh, was once the capital of the formidable Bundela kings who ruled over a large tract between the Ganga and Narmada in medieval times. According to legends, King Rudra Pratap chose this place situated on the loop of the river Betwa to make his capital in AD 1501. Located at a distance of 16 km from Jhansi, Orchha rises out of the hills and the greens surrounding it. The historical monuments of Orchha still retain their pristine charm and narrate stories of war and peace, of love and destruction. It is also a place famous for Bundela paintings, of which it was once a centre of activity.

    04:00 pm- We visit Orchha Fort, the Jehangir Mahal, Ram Raja Temple and the Chaturbhuj Temple
    ORCHHA FORT: There are a number of tourist spots in Orchha with the main attraction of Orchha being the Orchha fort complex. Orchha fort complex is located on an island on River Betwa, having a number of palaces to tour within it. The most noteworthy of the palaces within Orchha fort complex is Rajmandir and Jahangir Mahal. The way to Orchha fort complex is through a four-arched bridge.
    THE JEHANGIR MAHAL: It was built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in 17th century. Raja Bir Singh and jahangir was close friend, Jahangir Mahal built to welcome Empror Jahangir during his one day’s stay in Orchha. The Jahangir Mahal is built on a rectangular base and is relieved by a circular tower at each corner surmounted by a dome, while two lines of graceful balconies supported on brackets mark the central storey. The roof is crowned by eight large fluted domes, with smaller domes between them, connected by an ornamental balustrade.
    RAM RAJA TEMPLE: This palace – turned – temple has a charming legend attached to it. Following the dream visitatio of Lord Rama, Madhukar Shah’s wife, Ganesh Kunwari brought a statue of the God from Ayodhya to Orcha. While the king was a worshipper of Lord Krishna, the queen was a devotee of Lord Rama.The Ram Raja Temple is built on a square base and has an almost entirely plain exterior, relieved by projecting windows and a line of delicate domes along the summit.
    CHATURBHUJ TEMPLE: Chaturbhuj Temple built by Madhukar Shah. This was supposed to be the temple where the statue of Raja Ram would be placed. So, a new temple had been built around the idols and that is known as Raja Ram Temple now.

  • Day 5 : Orchha- Khajuraho (172 Kms/ 4.30 Hrs.)

    All guests to assemble in the Hotel lobby at 8:30 a.m., today we drive to Khajuraho.
    Khajuraho is a small town located in the Bundelkhand region (Chhatarpur District) of Madhya Pradesh and is famous for groups of Hindu and Jain temples. These temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their beautiful and erotic rock carvings.
    The temples of Khajuraho were built between 950 to 1050 A.D. during the Chandela dynasty of Central India (These rulers claimed descent from the moon, hence the name Chand-ela). After the decline of the Chandela dynasty in 13th century, the temples were left under the cover of dense date palm trees for many years, which gave the city of Khajuraho its name, Khajur in Hindi means a date. In the ancient times it was known as Vatsa.

    04:00- We drive to visit most famous Western Group of temples of Khajuraho
    WESTERN GROUP OF TEMPLES
    All the temples are open from sunrise to sunset. These are the richest and largest of all temple groups.
    LAKHMANA TEMPLE – The oldest and finest of the western group of temples, named after the ruler that built the temple. The A horizontal beam over the entrance of this beautiful Vaishnavite temple shows the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva with Lakshmi, Vishnus consort.
    KANDARIYA MAHADEO TEMPLE – This temple is decorated with a profusion of sculptures that are among the greatest masterpieces of Indian art.
    DEVI JAGDAMBA TEMPLE – Dedicated to the Goddess (devi), this is smaller and much more delicately proportioned temple and is home to some of the finest sculptures of Khajuraho. The garbha griha has a huge image of the Devi of the Universe (Jagdambi), though it appears to have started as a Vishnu temple. It has the usual three bands of sculptures, but the third and most uppermost of these houses some of the most erotic sculptures.
    CHAUNSAT YOGINI – The only granite temple in the Khajuraho group.
    CHITRAGUPTA TEMPLE – is dedicated to the Sun God (Surya), it faces eastward to the rising sun.
    MATANAGESWARA TEMPLE – A temple dedicated to Shiva, a huge 8ft Lingam adorns the temple.
    VARAHA TEMPLE – dedicated to the Varaha avatar of Lord Vishnu, it holds the statue of a Vraha [boar] in the centrestage with the Sheshnag lying beneath. Carving of an idol of Devi Saraswati on the snout of the Varaha reflects that every word/sound [dhvani] seeks blessing of Devi Saraswati [Goddess of speech, learning and knowledge].
    Vishwanath Temple – dedicated to Lord Shiva, also called Vishwanath [master of the universe]. In the same premises, a temple dedicated to Nandi, holds a huge statue of Nandi [the Bull, the companion, attendant and closest aide of Lord Shiva].
    In the evening, enjoy light and sound show at Khajuraho Temple (Timings of Sound & Light Show- English: 06:30 pm to 07:25 pm. Hindi: 07:40 pm to 08:35 pm)

  • Day 6 : Visit the Eatern & Southern Group of Temples / Departure

    Today we will visit Southern and Eastern Group of Temples of Khajuraho
    SOUTHERN GROUP OF TEMPLES
    DULHADEV TEMPLE – The last temple of Khajuraho, lies to the south of Ghantai temple. The temple enshrines a Shivalingam. The apsara and ornamented figures are the temple’s most striking features.
    BEEJAMANDAL TEMPLE – It is a ruined temple, and is near the Chattarbhuj Temple
    CHATTARBHUJ TEMPLE OR THE JATKARI TEMPLE – Built in 1100 A.D., is well-known for its architecture, and is also the only temple to be devoid of any erotic sculpture. 3 km away from the Eastern Group. Facing West, have to take 10 steps to reach the sanctum. The massive 9 feet intricately carved Vishnu idol in Chaturbhuja (four-armed).
    EASTERN GROUP OF TEMPLES
    PARSVANATH TEMPLE – Largest among the group, with exquisite carvings in detail. The sculptures on the northern outer wall are the highlights of this temple. The image was installed in 1860.The three roofs of this temple depict mixture of Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim influences.
    GHANTAI TEMPLE – This Jain temple has a frieze which depicts the 16 dreams of Mahavira’s mother, and a Jain goddess on a winged Garuda.
    ADINATH TEMPLE – Dedicated to Jain Tirthankar (God), adinath, the temple is lavishly embellished with sculpted figures, including yakshis.
    HANUMAN TEMPLE
    BRAHMA TEMPLE – considered to be one of the oldest temples of Khajuraho made entirely in granite and sandstone, is dedicated to Vishnu.
    VAMANA TEMPLE – is the dwarf form of Lord Vishnu, located in a secluded place and is known for its simple architecture.
    JAVARI TEMPLE
    Drive back to the Hotel
    Check out from the Hotel
    Drive to Railway station/ Airport to board the Train/ Flight to onward destination
