Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Hue - The DMZ

  Pick up in Hue and head north to the old DMZ, the old de-facto border between North and South Vietnam for 18 years, where we will take a walk on the Freedom bridge across the Ben Hai river, the river that was the only true physical demarcation line between the two Vietnams. The next stop is Vinh Moc tunnels, the refuge of some 400 north Vietnamese refugees during the bombing operation "Rolling Thunder.” ThenThe Hamburger hilltop head west along route 9 toward Laos border for Khe Sanh Combat Base - a large Marines combat base attacked by a massive forces of the North Vietnamese Army in early 1968, where we will spend ample time exploring this famous Marine Corps base before checking in into Thai Ninh hotel. Overnight in Khe Sanh village.

• Day 2 : Khe Sanh - Ashau Valley - the Hamburger Hill

  In the morning we head south over the Dakrong Bridge ( built by the Cubans in 1973 ) into the infamous Ashau valley which was the terminus of one of the main branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail ( Road 14 ). Check in at the hotel at Aluoi for a short break before hiking up to the Hamburger Hill ( about 3 hour hike ), wandering the hilltop to recall the 10 day bloody battle in 1969, then visit a North Vietnamese Army’s tunnel at the foot of the hill before getting back at Aluoi. Overnight in Aluoi.

• Day 3 : A Luoi - Hoi An

  Keep heading south along the Trail for Hoi An. At Da Nang we join the Highway 1 and pass the Red Beach where the U.S 9th Marine landed in march 1965, and China Beach, a famous R&R of the U.S soldiers in South Vietnam. On arrival in Hoi An, check in into the hotel for a short break before doing an afternoon walking tour in the old quarter of Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.

• Day 4 : Hoi An - Kon Tum

  We head back up to the mountains, rejoining the Trail at Kham Duc town. From there we head up the towering Lo So Pass, passing through remote areas thinly populated by the local Montargnards. Edging close to the border with Laos, where a number of Trail arteries crossed over in Laos. Near Kon Tum we stop to visit Dak To Combat Base which was destroyed by the NVA in 1972 then continue on to Kon Tum. OnThe comunal house of the local hilltibes arrival in Kontum, we take a short Kontum city tour to include the 100 year old Wooden Church, Kontum prison and the suspension bridge of Dak Dri. Check in at Indochine hotel. Overnight in Kon Tum.

• Day 5 : Kon Tum - Buon Ma Thuot

  Keep heading south along the Trail to Buon Ba Thuot, passing Pleiku city and infamous Ia Drang valley where the first major battle took place between the US Army's 1st Air Cav and the NVA in 1965 depicted in the movie " We Were Soldiers". On arrival in Buon Ma Thuot, check in at Thanh Cong hotel for a break before taking an afernoon city tour with a visit to Ethnology Museum and then drive to Buon Don village – home to the M’nong Montargnards and is famous elephant hunting and taming in Vietnam. Take a short elephant ride across Serepok river. Drive back to Buon Ma Thuot for dinner. Overnight in Buon Ma Thuot.

• Day 6 : Buon Ma Thuot - Nha Trang

  Check out the hotel and leave for Nha Trang. The road descends to the arid coastal city of Nha Trang with a stop at Phuong Hoang Phoenix Pass for snapshots. On arrival in Nha Trang, transfer to hotel. Overnight in Nhatrang. End of the tour.
