A great blend of history and adventure, this tour takes you to the main sites of Angkor the ABOUTAsia way - without the crowds - whilst also including some fun and exciting activities. Spend one of your days at the temples getting around by bicycle, go kayaking through a stilted village and mangrove forest on the Tonle Sap and swing through the trees on a zipline with the wonderful ‘ Flight of the Gibbon ’. For keen walkers the short hike to the linga river at Kbal Spean will appeal. To round off the tour we take you by foot, ox-cart and boat through a landscape that is often little changed since the days of Jayavarman VII, to ABOUTAsia's country house to sip well-deserved cocktails as the sun sets over the rice fields.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Siem Reap

  Arrive in Siem Reap where you will be met by your expert ABOUTAsia guide and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy your first taste of Angkor with a visit to Banteay Kdei temple followed by sunset drinks on the moat of Angkor Thom, a world away from the tourist crowds.
• Day 2 : Ta Prohm

  A single, magical day at the temples following our well researched crowd avoidance itinerary, including Ta Prohm of ‘Tomb Raider’ fame, Angkor Thom: Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King, Preah Palilay, Phimeanakas, Baphuon, and the Bayon with its captivating stone faces. During your tour enjoy a wonderful tuk tuk breakfast in the secluded forest temple of Ta Nei.

• Day 3 : Ziplines

  Take a private boat onto the Tonle Sap lake, the richest freshwater fishing ground in the world, to visit one of the authentic stilted villages (either Kompong Kleang or Kompong Phluk depending on water levels). Kayak amongst the mangrove forests before tucking into your picnic lunch. This afternoon swing through the trees on ziplines with ‘Flight of the Gibbon’ – a totally exhilarating experience but not for those with a fear of heights.

• Day 4 : Angkor Wat

  Motor through the darkness of pre-dawn to see the sunrise over Angkor Wat as we guide you to the best photo vantage points. Explore the temple in the hours immediately after sunrise when the temple is at its quietest. This afternoon take a journey of discovery by boat, ox-cart and on foot to visit villages little changed since the days of Jayavarman VII. End the day with a cocktail at ABOUTAsia’s country villa overlooking the paddy fields with the option of adding on dinner.

• Day 5 : Kbal Spean

  Head north out of Siem Reap to Kbal Spean. Hike 3 kms through jungle to the fine riverbed carvings where, depending on the season, it is possible to bathe in the cool waters. On the way back to town stop off at exquisite Banteay Srei, a small pink sandstone temple covered with complex carvings.

• Day 6 : Old Market

  Explore the Old Market for souvenirs or Psa Leu for a more local shopping experience. Visit the Artisans D’Angkor workshop and Theam’s House to see how local handicrafts are made. A private transfer will take you to the airport for your departure flight.
