Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular moderate treks on earth , the trail passes through cascading waterfalls, beautiful villages, terraced farmlands, lush rhododendron forests, and amazing mountain vistas before reaching the base of the mighty Annapurna. This offers enough time to witness the staggeringly beautiful peaks of all the Annapurna giants that encircle the basin Mountains in Annapurna region form the central core but it is not the tallest, because they rise in the heart of Himalayas. Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna IV etc are some of the mountains in Annapurna region. The Annapurna base camp trek also guarantees you fun, pleasure and a magnificent insight about the natural and cultural heritages of the tiny Himalayan country, Nepal. It is one of the most beautiful treks passing through the diverse ethnic group’s culture and verity vegetation forest and wildlife.
To reach Annapurna region, we need to follow the trial of terraced lands, dense beautiful forest of rhododendron, Gurung community traditional and cultural villages. The trek start from Nayapul about 1 hour 30 minutes drives from Pokhara. Pokhara recognized as the beautiful city of whole Nepal is the Gateway of Annapurna base camp trekking, you feel saturated by the nature and unidentifiable calm in the heart and soul. The main part of Ghandruk valley is on the top of the ridge, more than 500m above. Mostly our path will be the high lands of Annapurna region, we may have problem, so our body temperature should be accumulated according to the altitude. So that the problem neither may nor arise during trek.
Firstly we will reach to Nayapul. Then Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chhomrung, Deurali and lastly to Annapurna base camp. We will be in many view points. Among them poonhill will be the most beautiful view point from where we can see the combination of more than 10 mountains serially. Since our trial goes clock wise we will not return back same way. To end our trek from Annapurna base camp, our returning way will be Bamboo. The trail finally stumbles across moraines and reaches the world of ice and snow Annapurna Sanctuary from where you will see incredible 360 degree views of the Annapurna ranges and above the massive Annapurna glacier. Collecting lifetime experience, we retrace from Annapurna Base camp to Chomrong and then to the Jhinu Danda where is the natural hot spring and you can enjoy in the small bath pools, from here The trail leads to a rhododendron forest and passes through charming villages of Nepal’s ethnic communities of the Gurung,& Magar. Generally Annapurna Base camp trekking is considered at moderate trekking because our trek will be at high altitude but not in the difficult path. Month of September, October, November, December, March, April, May and February will be the most favorable time to do trek in this region. (The above itinerary can be tailor made as per clients request, we can make the itinerary more shorter by cutting day 02 city tour, there is early morning 8 am flight to Pokhara which is only 25 minutes flight so we can start the trek in same day, can take a fly back also late afternoon, So people have short time wanted to do this trek also possible, people who have longer time can add the White Water Rafting, Jungle safari tour in Chitwan National park, can spend more time in Pokhara by doing Paragliding, Zeep Flyer and other extra activities so feel free to write us your interest and time and we will make the itinerary to suites your needs).
Day 1 : Greetings At Kathmandu Airport
We will be present there at airport for your convenience to greet you and transfer to your desired hotel. When you have had your time to settle in and freshen up after your long fight, you will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about your program. You will have meeting with your trekking guide and discuss about the equipment needed for the trekking and we will process for the trekking permits. If you arrive at night we will have same discussion in next day morning after your breakfast.
Day 2 : A Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu, the Capital Valley
The very next morning, after breakfast you will be taken for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You can visit center of pilgrimage Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and essentially enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage sites. The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhnath might make you feel calm and peace and visit Patan the city of fine arts and Durbar Square is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. On journey back to hotel, you can explore the local areas, gullies and lifestyle. After your dinner, you can perhaps take leisurely stroll through the famous streets like Thamel and Durbarmarg.
Day 3 : Flight or Drive to Pokhara, Take a 25 Minutes Flight or 6-7 Hour Drive
After having your breakfast, we will drive you to the Domestic Airport to take a 25 minutes flight to Pokhara. During the short flight, you will have majestic views of glorious Manaslu Peaks and the snow capped Annapurna and Langtang Himalaya range. Or you can take a Tourist bus to Pokhara about 6-7 hour drive via scenic Prithivi Highway enjoying short stops for lunch and breakfast and scenic beauty all the way around. you will transfer to the hotel, after freshen up, you will be free and can look around the lakeside city by yourself, you can visit the Phewa lake where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Annapurna Himalaya Range reflected in all its glory in the calm green water of the lake and visit Bindavasini Temple which is only accessible by boat.
Day 4 : Pokhara Trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m): Walking Distance 3-4 Hours, 540 Meters Ascent – 9.6 Km
Enjoying the breakfast in very morning, your journey for Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill trek begins. A car drive for about 1 and half hour through large village lumle brings you to Nayapul. The trek starts from here, dropping at first on a staircase and then traversing high above the river on a wide stone-paved trail to a large and prosperous town Birethanti (1000m). The trekking trail today follows winding bamboo forests and waterfalls with plunge pools inviting you for a refreshing swim. Beyond a pasture used by pony caravans, the trail reaches a small village Sudami, where you can have your lunch. After lunch climb steadily up the side of the valley to reach Hille (1510m) and after a short waking you will arrive Tikhedunga. We spend the overnight at guest house.
Day 5 : Tikhedunga Trek to Ghorepani (2775m) : Walking Distance 4-6 Hours 1360 Meters Ascent – 9.4 Km
The trail crosses the Tikhedunga River on a suspension bridge, then drops and crosses the Bhurungdi khola on a large bridge at 1520m. The trail ascends on a stone staircase that is said to have more than 3300 steps. The unrelenting staircase continues to the large Magar village of Ulleri (2080m). From Ulleri the trail gently climb through pastures and cultivated fields. You walk up besides the cascading river through refreshingly cool oak and Rhododendron forest. The trail crosses two sparkling clear streams, a small ridge and another stream before making a short climb to Nangathanti (2460m). We have a little rest with lunch here at Nangathanti. In winter the trail can be covered with snow. The day destination Ghorepani (2750m) is reached after about an hour past Nangathanti.
Day 6 : Ghorepani Hike to Poon Hill and Trek to Tadapani (2540m) : Walking Distance to Tadapani 5-6 Hours,
Most people rise before dawn the following day to make the early-morning excursion to Poon Hill (3210m), one of the best Himalaya view point in Nepal, provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. The spectacular panorama stretches from Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and Tukuche (6920m) to Nilgiri (6940m), Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8091m), Hiuchhuli (6441m) and Tarke Kang (7193m). Gangapurna (7454m), Lamjung Himal (6986m) and the Mt. Fishtail (Machhapuchhre 6997m) make your breath and eyes caught. Watching the beautiful sunrise is a defining moment with lots of pleasure and tranquility.
After breakfast our trek to Tadapani starts. A short early morning climb to the Deurali pass for a spectacular panorama over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Trail descends steeply through dense moss-covered forest with rich bird life to Tadapani which also provides a close up sunset view.
Day 7 : Tadapani Trekking to Chhomrong (2040m) : Walking Distance 3-5 Hours,780 Meters Descent and 240 Meter
Very almighty rhododendron forests and fine terraces went passing through our trail to the Chhomrong village. Above the village is the mighty peak of Annapurna South with the Mt. Fishtail, facing it across the valley. Chhomrong is a beautiful village with lots of Lodges providing good faciities. Chhomrong is a gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary trek and inhabited by Gurung, one of the major ethnic groups of Nepal.
Day 8 : :chhomrong Trekking to Dovan (2540m): Walking Distance 4-5 Hours, 740 Meters Ascent and 510 Meters
Leaving Chhomrong, the trail descends via a stone staircase and crosses the Chhomrong Khola on a swaying Suspension bridge. Then climb out of the side valley passing through deep forests of bamboo, rhododendron and oak. The portion of the day’s trek follows another ascent to Kuldi (2470m). Descend a long, steep, slippery stone staircase into a deep bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Dovan.
Day 9 : Dovan Trekking to Machhapuchhare Base Camp (3700m): Walking Distance 5-6 Hours, 1260 Meters Ascent ï
A trek of narrow Modi Khola valley brings you almost to the base of M.B.C. There’s technically no such thing as ‘Machhapuchhare Base Camp’, since ascents of the mountains are prohibited. The mountain views are stupendous; the panorama includes Hiuchhuli, Annapurna ranges and the ever-changing Machhapuchhare. This area is called the Annapurna sanctuary since it is totally surrounded by mountains. A huge amphitheater enclosed by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks which include Annapurna I, Annapurna III and the fish tail spire of Machhapuchhare.
Day 10 : Machhapuchhare Base Camp Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) : Walking Distance 2-3 Hours, 430 Meter
The climb to Annapurna Base Camp takes under two hours. You descend a small ridge branching out from the mountain pass to mountainside with widespread terraced fields showcasing tranquil meadows and lush fertile farming land. As you reach Annapurna South Base Camp, witness awesome picturesque landscapes, majestic panoramic view of snow-capped mountainous peaks and varied Himalayan cultural settings tucked beneath the southern slopes of the Annapurna massive. Tremendous Annapurna Range stops your heart beat for a while; whole day without rest chill out around to explore ABC.
Day 11 : Annapurna Base Camp Trekking to Bamboo (2340m) : Walking Distance – 12.7 Km
Heading back down the valley is much easier. We will have some amazing glimpse of sunrise over Mt. Annapurna and surrounding ranges. Even if you do exploring in the morning, you will have no problem reaching Bamboo passing through Himalayan Hotel and Dovan. You trek gently ascend through bamboo forests with varieties of rhododendron and oak trees. Keep an eye out for troops of black-faced ‘Langur’ monkeys. At night you will find yourself in a guest house.
Day 12 : Bamboo Trekking to Jhinu Danda (1750m) : Walking Distance – 8.5 Km
Retrace our steps back down to apple-pie country. The trail goes steeply up to the Kuldi Ghar and now the trail is quite flat until you reach Sinuwa. You trek gradually descends to the Chhomrong Khola and you have to follow stone staircase for almost an hour to reach Chhomrong. The trail continues through rhododendron and bamboo forest with majestic mountains scenery, especially Mt. Machhapuchhare. An hour walk will take you to Jhinu Danda. You enjoy the natural hot spring and explore the area around.
Day 13 : Jhinu Hot Spring to Pothana (1990m) : Walking Distance – 13.5 Km
After breakfast next morning, the trail descends where you find beautiful waterfalls. Beyond this town, the trail ascends gently crossing numerous streams and terraces continuing on to Landruk, a beautiful Gurung village which provides an excellent view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The trail emerges in the main Modi Khola valley and reaches Tolkha (1850m) and continues towards Pothana. The view of Machhapuchhare (6997m) is excellent from here, except that from this angle it looks more like Matterhorn than a fish tail.
Day 14 : Pothana Trekking to Pokhara : Walking Distance – 5.5 Km
Today we will walk along a paved stone trail through Rhododendron forests arriving at Dhampus (1750m). The village is inhabitant of Brahmans, Chhetris and a few Gurungs. Now you trek through flat land for some distance and steeply descend to Dhampus Phedi. After a rest here we will walk mostly downhill through fields to the forest and on to the Phedi. A 30 min drive from Phedi brings you to Pokhara. We spend a beautiful night in beautiful Pokhara city.
Day 15 : Pokhara to Kathmandu, Take a 25 Minutes Flight or 6/7 Hour Drive.
You can take a flight or drive by tourist bus/Private car to Kathmandu. At the evening you can have your last night in Nepal enjoying the Nepali cultural dinner show, taking some beautiful snaps and making up your mind for the returning journey. (Or stay longer for short tours such as drives at National parks, rafting, Tibet tours, mountain biking etc).
You can have a greetings exchanging among friends and buy some souvenirs.
Day 16 : Final Departure
We will drop you to the International airportto catch your flight back to your home. Wish you best of luck for rest of your life having very great experiences and adventures.
