Day 1 : Arrive Dhaka
Receive the guest at Dhaka Airport and transfer to hotel. If time permits, a half day tour will be offered. Stay overnight Dhaka.
Day 2 : Dhaka - Moinamoti - Sonargaon - Dhaka
After Breakfast, drive to the Archeological camp at Moinamoti, Comilla where the Salbon Vihar and the Museum are located (Sunday & 1st half of Monday is closed) . Excavated Buddhist remains of 8th/9th century, by King Buddhadev, are dotted all the way along the north -south running Lalmai, Moinamoti hill range. From here the following adjacent sites you may also visit: Ananda Vihar, Charpatra Mura, Itakhola Mura, Rupban Mura, Kutila Mura and Triratna Stupa.
Then drive back to Dhaka. On the way back, we will stop at Sonargaon, the oldest city, which was the capital of Bengal from 13th -17th century. If our time permits, we may visit the Folklore museum (Wednesday & Thursday is closed) and the Panam village. Arrive Dhaka at evening and night halt.
Day 3 : Dhaka - Mongla (214 km) by Road)
After having breakfast at hotel, we will start journey for Mongla. Due to heavy traffic, ferry transfer & fog (in winter), it may take 7-8 hours journey. On the way, we will visit several rural villages, bazars and river sides. Upon arrival at Mongla, directly transfer to hotel/ motel for night stay.
Day 4 : Day Long Sundarban Trip by Wooden/ Glass Fiber Boat
A very interesting day ahead as we take an excursion to the world famous Sunarbans Forest - another UNESCO World heritage Site. Part of this excursion will be done by boat The Sundarbans mangrove forest, the single largest forest in the world (140,000 ha), lies on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal. The site is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests, and presents an excellent example of ongoing ecological processes. We visit the world’s largest mangrove belt – a popular habitat of the Royal Bengal tiger. The forest treasures 330 plant species, 35 reptiles, 400 fishes, birds and 42 mammals. An optional arrangement for fishing with the aid of otters during the Sundarban cruising can be arranged. Overnight stay Mongla.
Day 5 : Mongla - Bagerhat - Rajshahi (310 km) by Road
After an early breakfast, drive to Bagerhat, the Islamic Metropolis for sightseeing. Here, you will explore on old mosque with a massive structure having sixty domes and you will also visit the area including some more mosques. After visiting these places, start drives to Rajshahi. On the way, we will visit Paksey Bridge, Bagha Mosque, Puthia Temple Complex. We will also visit more different villages & bazars through the way. Stay overnight Rajshahi.
Day 6 : Rajshahi - Paharpur - Dinajpur (205 km) by road
After breakfast, visit Varendra museum. The Varendra Research Museum (all Govt. holidays along with Friday is closed), one of the oldest museums in this subcontinent, is situated in the heart of Rajshahi city. Its library contains 22,000 printed books and journals and 6000 manuscripts in Bengali, Sanskrit, Arabic and Persian languages. The library has been moved from the Museum building to a new, modern structure. It was one of the first non government initiatives for building a museum by some enlightened people with Kumar Sarat Kumar Roy during the British era. This museum has a large collection of statues of Lord Surya and some unique masterpieces illustrating the history of the locality and its civilization.
Then drive continues to Paharpur to visit the Budsdhist Monastery -the UNESCO World Heritage Site. We see the Buddhist Vihara dating back to the 8th century – the largest monastery south of the Himalayas. Its layout perfectly adapted to its religious function, this monastery-city represents a unique artistic achievement. With its simple, harmonious lines and its profusion of carved decoration, it influenced Buddhist architecture as far away as Cambodia. (The museum is been closed fully on Sunday & 1st half of Monday.) Drive to Dinajpur for overnight stay.
Day 7 : Dinajpur - Bogra (141 km) by road
After breakfast, visit Kantaji Temple. This is a late medieval Hindu temple in Dinajpur. Built by Maharaja Pran Nath, its construction started in 1722 C.E. and ended in 1752 C.E., during the reign of his son Maharaja Ramnath. It boasts one of the greatest examples on Terracotta architecture in Bangladesh. Then start driving to Bogra.
After lunch, we will visit Mahastangarh –the archeological site, dating from 3rd century BC, which is about 13 KM north of Bogra, represents the earliest of city site in the whole of Bengal. It’s an impressive fortified city covering about 210,000 squires meter, most of which is still buried beneath the farmland. The citadel is encircled on three sites by artificial moats and by the Korotowa River. (The museum is been closed fully on Sunday & 1st half of Monday.)
Day 8 : Bogra - Tangail - Dhaka (197 km) by road
Early morning, we will start journey to Dhaka. A culturally refreshing day ahead as we visit the weaver’s village in Tangail famous for Saris, Lungis, Bed Sheets, etc. Here we also get an opportunity to see the village life and talk to the local folks whose lifestyle has remained simple and yet contained. We also visit the Atia Mosque built in 1609 - a blend of pre and imperial Moghul architectures and styles. The Mosque is known for it’s majesty and beauty. Drive continues to Dhaka and stay overnight.
Day 9 : Dhaka City Tour
After breakfast, we will go for city tour. This day we will visit the attractive Shadarghat water front crowded with different type of boats and crafts. Every day hundred & thousands passengers are transported through few hundred river crafts and motor launches to and from this river port. You can find here the heritage paddle wheel Rocket steamer built during British colonial period still in service and playing very important role for safe transport. Walk through the Shakhari Bazaar Hindu streets and experience with the special flavor of typical Hindu culture through this narrow historical passage. Visit the wonderful historical Ahsan Manzil (Thursday & 1st half of Friday is closed), Dhakeshawari Hindu Temple, Central Shahid Minar - the symbol of sacrifice for mother language, historical Curzon Hall of Dhaka University, Have lunch at nice local restaurant. After lunch visit National Museum (Thursday & 1st half of Friday is close) with rich and rare collections, National Parliament Complex. Stay overnight Dhaka.
Day 10 : Departure Dhaka
Free till departure to airport for next destination.
