Arunachal, a magical and mystical land in north-east is a compelling holiday destination in India. Its attractions include picturesque mountain peaks, swift rivers, verdant valleys, impenetrable forests, deep gorges and wildlife sanctuaries and national parks with rich and varied wildlife, flora and fauna.

Our tour in Arunachal Pradesh starts with a bus drive from Guwahati to Tezpur (180 kms) that, besides being headquarters of Sonitpur District, is an ancient city on the banks of river Brahmaputra. Traversing through to Dirang we get a chance to appreciate a large variety of orchids at Orchid Research Centre at Tipi. Driving over Sela Pass (4120m) to Tawang is an experience in itself when the beauty of the mountains all around us sings the tune of nature. Main attractions here are the great Tawang Monastery and the library that boasts of a huge golden statue of Buddha besides multi-hued Tawang War Memorial that is built like a stupa. Having appreciated and captured panoramic views of some stunning Himalayan peaks from Bomdila we land up right in the middle of Kaziranga National Park on elephants and jeeps to be amongst its flora and fauna for a day. Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh offers Ita Fort, Ganga Lake, Buddhist Temple and Jawahar Lal Museum while Ziro beckons us with breath-taking valleys where Apatani tribal women with distinctive nose-plugs, facial tattoos and wooden jewelry grab our attention. Daporijo, situated on the right bank of River Subansiri is home to different tribals like Adi Gallong, Nishyi Hill Miri and Tagins who showcase their unique lifestyle. Driving from Daporijo to Along through brilliant plantations lands us ultimately in the lap of Kabu Village of Adi Gallong who are animists in religion and worship the Sun and the Moon.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : New Delhi

  Arrival Delhi. Upon arrival at the International airport of Delhi and the traditional 'Swagat' (Welcome) we transfer to the hotel for check-in. Rest of the day is free. Overnight Hotel
• Day 2 : Tezpur

  Delhi – Guwahati (By Flight) – Tezpur (180 kms/4-5 hrs). Transfer to the airport to board flight for Guwahati (Assam). Upon arrival in Guwahati we drive straight to Tezpur (also known as Sonitpur). Evening at leisure. Overnight Hotel
• Day 3 : Dirang

  Tezpur – Dirang (190 kms/5-6 hrs). After breakfast drive to Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh). En-route, visit Orchid Research Centre at Tipi (Bhalukpong). Overnight Hotel
• Day 4 : Tawang

  Dirang – Tawang (200 kms/06 hrs). Drive to Tawang via Sela Pass (4120m) that provides us with beautiful mountain views all-around. Afternoon at leisure to explore the area. Overnight Hotel
• Day 5 : Tawang

  Sight-seeing of Tawang. Today visit the 17th century Tawang Monastery which is the second largest monastery in the world after Potala Palace in Tibet. Morning visit to Tawang Monastery. Later visit Tawang War Memorial. Overnight Hotel

• Day 6 : Bomdila

  Tawang – Bomdila (240 kms/7-8 hrs). After breakfast drive to Bomdila that provides a superb view of the Himalayan peaks on a clear day. Upon arrival at Bomdila, main town of the tribal district, check-in to the hotel. Later visit the monastery that houses about 200 monks. Overnight Hotel
• Day 7 : Kaziranga National Park

  Bomdila – Kaziranga (200 kms/5-6 hrs). Leave early in the morning and drive to Kaziranga National Park where there is nothing planned for the day that is free to relax or to explore the local area. Afternoon is free. Overnight Hotel
• Day 8 : Kaziranga National Park

  Kaziranga National Park. Early in the morning take an Elephant Safari to visit central range of the park for about a couple of hours before returning to the hotel for breakfast. Post lunch it is time for another safari into the Park, but this time, on Jeeps. Overnight Hotel

• Day 9 : Itanagar

  Kaziranga – Itanagar (225 kms/6-7 hrs). After breakfast drive to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Visit Ita Fort, Ganga Lake, and Buddhist Temple and Jawaharlal Nehru Museum. Overnight Hotel

• Day 10 : Ziro

  Itanagar – Ziro (150 kms/4-5 hrs). After breakfast, drive to Ziro along lush tropical mountains that provide breath-taking views of the valleys and villages. Visit the tribals at Hong village. Overnight Hotel

• Day 11 : Ziro

  Sight-seeing of Ziro. During a full-day exploration of Ziro visit the local ethnographic museum and tribal villages of Apatani whose inhabitants are famous for their unique facial tattoos and large wooden jewelry. Overnight Hotel
• Day 12 : Daporijo

  Drive to Daporijo. Visit tribes of Adi Gallong, Nishyi, and the Tagins. En-route visit Raga Village of the Hill Miri Tribe. Upon check-in at Guest House, explore the local evening market. Overnight Hotel
• Day 13 : Along

  Daporijo – Along (160 kms/4-5 hrs). After a relaxed breakfast today drive down to Along, the headquarters of West Siang District, 300 meters above sea level. Evening is free to explore the town. Overnight Hotel
• Day 14 : Along

  Sight-seeing of Along. After the sightseeing tour of Along village after breakfast, visit Kabu Village of Adi Gallong Tribe. See a bridge made of bamboo and cane. Overnight Hotel
• Day 15 : Dibrugarh

  Along – Dibrugarh. Take a short drive and ferry on Brahmaputra River to Dibrugarh. En-route visit Adi Tribal villages. Rest of the day is free to relax. Overnight Hotel
• Day 16 : Delhi

  Dibrugarh – Delhi (By Flight) and Departure. Transfer to Dibrugarh Airport for flight to Delhi. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Later departure transfer to the international airport of Delhi. Overnight Hotel
