Assam: Sprawled along the length of the Brahmaputra valley, Assam (also known as Ahom) is the biggest and most accessible of the North-eastern States. A hospitable population, a cuisine with its own distinctive aromas and flavours, a vibrant artistic heritage marked by exotic dance forms and a string of elegant Hindu temples top its list of innumerable attractions. The landscape is a picturesque golden-green vista of rice fields and manicured tea estates, the land of one-horned rhinoceros, framed by the blue mountains of Arunachal in the north and the highlands of Meghalaya and Nagaland to the south. Meghalaya: Separating the Assam valley from the plains of Bangladesh, hilly Meghalaya – the ‘abode of clouds’ – is a cool, pine-fresh mountain state set on dramatic horseshoes of rocky cliffs. Meghalaya with its rich biodiversity with thickest forests in the country in which there are several sanctuaries where flora and fauna of a myriad species exist. The state provides immense opportunities for adventure in the lap of nature. Cherrapunjee and Mawsynram are statistically among the wettest places on Earth; most of the rain falls between June and September, creating very impressive waterfalls and carving out natural limestone caves, some of Asia’s longest caves.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : GUWAHATI - SHILLONG

  Land at Guwahati airport/arrive at Guwahati station. You’ll be met by our representative at the airport/railway station. Board car & transfer from airport/station to Shillong (102Km/03:00hrs). On the way take a break at Umiam Lake. This scenic lake is famous for water-sports. Further procced to Shillong. Arrive at hotel and check-in. Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, at an altitude of 4920 feet, is a beautiful hill resort set amidst hills and valleys. In the afternoon, visit Cathedral of Marry and in the evening roam to the Shillong’s famous Police Bazar on foot. Overnight stay at hotel.

• Day 2 : SHILLONG

  Breakfast at hotel. Proceed for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee (54Km/02:00hrs). Cherrapunjee, the pristine land, is impressive with its gushing waterfalls on the edge of Khasi Hills. It is the wettest place on earth as it receives continuous rainfall throughout the year. You also get the stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh from here. En-route visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak (at an altitude of 6446 feet that offers breath-taking views of the countryside) to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Shillong city. At Cherrapunjee visit – Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang Park, Koh Ramhah and Khrem Falls. Return transfer to Shillong. Overnight stay at hotel.
• Day 3 : SHILLONG

  Breakfast at hotel. Explore Shillong today. Visit Don Bosco Cathedral, the landscaped Lady Hydari Park, serene Ward’s Lake, popular for boating, Golf Course-the third largest golf course in India. Overnight stay at hotel.

• Day 4 : SHILLONG – MAWLYNNONG

  Breakfast at hotel. Experience a unique village, Mawlynnong, situated 90 kms ahead of Shillong, on the Shillong-Dawki Road with a population of 400. Dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine. Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed all along mark the village, with waterfalls, a living root bridge, hilly rivulets, acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh all contribute to the ambience of this village.
• Day 5 : SHILLONG – KAZIRANGA

  Breakfast at hotel. Check-out of hotel and transfer to Kaziranga (196kms. / 4.5hrs.). Arrive Kaziranga and check-in at jungle resort. Kaziranga National Park is famous for its great one-horned Rhinoceros and other rare wild lives. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel or a Jungle Resort.
• Day 6 : KAZIRANGA

  Breakfast at hotel. Explore Kaziranga National Park today. Enjoy elephant safari, get an opportunity to encounter one-horned Rhinoceros, Indian Bison, Wild Boars and some other rare wild lives. You can also enjoy the jeep safari. Return to the resort in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel or a Jungle Resort.

• Day 7 : KAZIRANGA - GUWAHATI

  Breakfast at hotel. Check-out of hotel. Transfer to Guwahati (220kms. / 4.5hrs.). Arrive at Guwahati and check-in at hotel. Proceed for halfday sight-seeing. Visit Kamakshya Temple, one of the most sacred Shaktipeeths, Assam State Museum, Bhuvaneswari Temple, Cottage Industries Museum and Balaji Temple. Return to hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.
• Day 8 : GUWAHATI – FLY OUT

  Breakfast at hotel. Check-out of hotel. Transfer to Guwahati airport. Arrive at Guwahati airport and proceed to board your return flight to Kolkata. Your tour comes to an end with pleasant memories.
