Day 1 : Santiago – Calama – San Pedro De Atacama
We meet you at Calama airport, from where we drive to San Pedro de Atacama. In the afternoon, visit of the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Range) and short hike through the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) with its impressive geological formations, vast sand dunes and gorgeous sunsets. Return to the hotel.
Day 2 : San Pedro De Atacama – Salar De Atacama – San Pedro
This is An Acclimatization Day in Preparation for the Challenge of the High and Dry Altiplano Region We Will Be Hiking In. After Breakfast, a 30-minute Drive Takes Us to Toconao, a Small Village Typical for this Region. from Here, We Walk for Half An Hour Through the Amazingly Green Quebrada Jere (ravine) and Then Drive to the Heart of the Salt Flat to Visit the Chaxa Lagoon. Return to San Pedro in the Evening, Stopping On the Way to Visit the Striking Tamarugo Forest (a Tree Species Related to Mesquite). Free Time to Roam Through San Pedro Before Dinner.
Day 3 : SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA – SAN BARTOLO
6-7 Hours / 200m Ascent, River Crossing
morning Walk Through San Pedro De Atacama. Visit of the Famous Town Church, Dating from 1641; the Inca House, the Oldest Building in Town; and the Archeological Museum, Founded By the Belgian Jesuit Priest and Archeologist Gustavo Le Paige. Visit of the 12th Century Pukara (fortress) of Quitor, Carved Into the Side of a Cliff. Its Importance Faded with the Arrival of the Inca and Its Destruction in 1540 By the Spanish. from the Top of this Fortress We have a Magnificent View Over the Valley of Catarpe, from Where We Set Off On Our Trek Along a Beautiful Canyon Leading to San Bartolo. Here We Set Up Camp, Rest and have Dinner.
Day 4 : SAN BARTOLO – RIO GRANDE
7 hours / 580m ascent, river crossing
From San Bartolo we hike along the riverbed to Río Grande, our next campsite, 7 – 8 hours away. The amazing and incredible wildlife close to the river surprises us at every moment. It contrasts strongly with the rocky, sandy and dry terrain just a few meters away. Río Grande is a small village of farmers and shepherds. We set up camp, rest, and have dinner.
Day 5 : RIO GRANDE – MACHUCA
7 hours / 1,000m ascent
Early departure from Río Grande towards the village of Machuca, in the heart of the altiplano region, where we spend the night.
Day 6 : MACHUCA – MONTES DE CABLOR
7-8 Hours / 1,000m Ascent
we Get Up Early (5 O’clock) to Set Off On a Long Trek Across the High Plateau Towards the Foot of the Montes De Cablor Mountains. We Camp At the Source of the Caspana River.
Day 7 : MONTES DE CABLOR – CASPANA – CALAMA
6 Hours / No Climb
we Hike Along An Old Local Trail Following the Caspana River Towards the Village of Caspana, Where Our Vehicle Will Be Waiting for Us. We Drive West Across the Atacama Desert to Calama.
Day 8 : CALAMA – SANTIAGO
Transfer to the airport.
End of our services.
