5 Nights / 6 Days
Explore Morocco’s beautiful Atlantic coastline and majestic Atlas Mountains.
We’ll pick you up at 8 a.m. from your riad or hotel in Marrakech and begin our adventure west towards the Atlantic coast.
We’ll stop off at the UNESCO protected city of Essaouira, an enchanting fishing harbour influenced by the Portuguese settlers from the 16th century. The enormous fortress city is packed full of whitewashed, blue-shuttered houses (built at sea-level) and is famous for its fine handcrafted items. These items show off the best of Moroccan marquetry, the art of working wood with ebony, mother-of-pearl, and silver threads.
After staying in Essaouira, we’ll head off towards Agadir. There we’ll visit Sidi Kaouki beach, well known for the undisturbed sand dunes and argon shrubs which make it the most beautiful beach in Morocco. The next beach, Taghazout, is a paradise for surfers and offers excellent views of the Atlantic coastline. After this visit, we’ll then stay the night at Agadir.
We’ll set off in the morning and head to the laid-back city of Sidi Ifni. This city has more than just a taste of Spanish culture and its beautiful architecture is the perfect backdrop whilst you explore the different markets and sights.
We’ll then travel onward to the village of Tiznit, where the locals dress in traditional clothes and sell handmade Berber jewellery.
Our Atlantic Coast tour journey continues to the Anti-Atlas mountain range, where we visit the towns of G’limime and Tafraoute. This area is known for almond trees, argan oil, and the production of babouches (a traditional Moroccan leather shoe). We’ll then end the day with a relaxing walk in the Ameln Valley where weather-worn boulders change from pink to grey, to gold depending on the time of day. We’ll then have dinner at the hotel.
Depart via Chtouka Ait Baha to the town of Taroudant. Taroudant is nicknamed the “mini-Marrakech” and is an elegant town encircled by a red ocher wall. Taroudant is a shopper’s paradise for aficionados of unique silver items but also sells a vast array of other beautiful handcrafted items.
Time to head back! We’ll visit the old medina (Arabic quarter) and souks (markets) of Taroudant before heading back to Marrakech via the Tizi’n’Test Pass and see the iconic Berber Mosque — the Tinmel.
We’ll stop off for lunch near Ouirgane, a stunning little town placed nearby a lake with delicious traditional Berber food. We’ll then continue on to Marrakech.
