We will get into the heart of Vietnamese authentic culture. we will also enter the lively life in Vietnam by biking, walking, cruising, participating in a Vietnamese cooking class, sleeping in a homestay and spending a night aboard an elegant junk. Day 1 : HANOI ARRIVAL
Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to hotel in Ha Noi. Hanoi is one of Asia's most charming cities, with romantic boulevards and gorgeous colonial buildings. If time permits, we take a cyclo ride for a short excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. O/N in hotel in Hanoi.
Day 2 : HANOI CITY TOUR
Hanoi - Vietnam's capital is a stylish and gracious city that retains a unique old world charm and some Asia's most striking colonial architecture. The many lakes and parks make for relaxing atmosphere. Today we spend a full day exploring Hanoi. Combine Ho Chi Minh Complex (closed every Monday) containing the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts, One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature-the combination of the Confucius Temple worshiping Confucius which was built in 1070 and the first Royal National university in Vietnam during feudal dynasty and Museum of Ethnology ( closed on Monday) which offers informative and well-documented display on the country's 54 ethnic groups, include elaborate and colorful hill-tribe costumes,. The display continues on to the garden outside with fascinating examples of minority housing from the Kinh to the ones of the ethnic groups in Central Highland. In the late afternoon, the water puppet show will bring us to an end of Hanoi city tour. O/N in hotel in Ha Noi.
Day 3 : HA NOI - MAI CHAU
Depart from Hanoi to Mai Chau - a picturesque valley, home to many hill tribes including the Dzao, Muong and Thai. Arrive in Mai Chau around noon,check in Thai ethnic homestay in the village of the 'White Thai', who predominantly inhabit this area. Lunch in the homestay with a typical Thai ethnic meal. In the afternoon, take a short riding on bicycle around the village where you will be welcomed by friendly local people, communicate with them and explore their traditional lifestyle. Enjoy a traditional dancing show at night with taste of Ruou Can-the local rice wine. O/N in the homestay of White Thai family.
Day 4 : MAI CHAU - PA CO - HANG KIA - TREKKING - CUN PHEO
After breakfast, we take a short drive to Pa Co inhabited by Red & Blue H'mong tribal people, if we are being on Sunday, we will see colorful market of Hmong ethnic minority people in Pa Co. Then we continue heading to Hang Kia village where we start our trek on the slopes to reach Cun Pheo village. On the way, we will frequently meet hill tribal people with basket on their backs seeking for precious medicinal plants. The trek will guide you through spectacular scenery and offer a chance to observe traditional lifestyle of locals. Enjoy a picnic lunch and walk through green rice paddies. Crossing a river, we will arrive in Cun Pheo village and get on the car we drive to Mai Chau for second night at Thai's family. O/N in homestay of White Thai family.
Day 5 : MAI CHAU - HOA LU - TAM COC
After breakfast, we say goodbye with our friendly family and drive to Tam Coc where was called with name "Ha Long on land" for its rock-formation as similar as in Halong Bay. On the way, stop to visit Hoa Lu- the ancient capital of Viet Nam during 10th century. Then get a bicycle for 2hrs riding to go to Tam Coc, get in a small rowing boat to discover an outstanding karst landscape on Ngo Dong River. Tam Coc as its name means « three caves », adorned with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites of different shapes like gemstones. On rowing, you will see the peaceful scenery of rice paddies along the river banks. Back to Tam Coc for overnight. O/N in hotel in Tam Coc.
Day 6 : TAM COC - HALONG BAY
After breakfast, depart to Ha Long bay via Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, passing peaceful countryside typical of Red River Delta with endless rice fields and winding river. Arrive at Ha Long Tourist Wharf around noon. Embark the elegant wooden junk. Lunch will be served as the boat cruises to visit numerous islands and lime-stone outcrops rising abruptly from the emerald water. It is also an ideal opportunity to enjoy the sea and refresh your soul in its splendid setting. Our activities will follow as schedule of boat cruise as: visiting beautiful cave, climbing up a mountain to get panorama of Halong and leisure on beach.... Dinner with fresh seafood prepared by our experienced chef. A sweet night on board in your private cabin.O/N on Junk/Boat.
Day 7 : HALONG BAY - HANOI - night train to HUE
Enjoy the breakfast and savor an incredible sunrise from the sundeck while boat is cruising to Luon Cave and Halong floating village then back to the harbour. On the way back to Hanoi, stop at Bac Ninh province for visiting Vietnam's first Buddhist centre, the But Thap Pagoda, which was built in 13th century and reconstructed in the 17th century. It famous for valuable statues, most remarkable is a thousand-handed and thousand-eyed Buddha considered a masterpiece of Vietnamese sculpture. Drive to Hanoi station for the night train to Hue. Overnight in the 4 soft - berths cabin. O/N on board.
Day 8 : EXPLORING HUE
Arrive in Hue in the morning. Hue city - the poetic city used to be the capital of Nguyen dynasty well- known for its royal monuments. Start our trip with visiting Hue Imperial City - the architectural complex including : Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons,Thai Hoa Palace & Forbidden Purple City (Tu Cam Thanh). Tour ended by visiting Dong Ba Market. The rest of the day is free for relaxation. O/N in the hotel in Hue.
Day 9 : HUE - DA NANG - HOI AN - COOKING CLASS
Departure to Danang along the Mandarin Road. The scenic 4-hour drive via Hai Van Pass offers spectacular views of mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages (we can choose the shorter way by driving through the tunnel). Arrive to Hoi An, which was which was originally one of major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Hoian town is now not only an UNESCO World Heritage, but a real live museum. Visit of Hoi An Town with it slow tiled houses of Chinese appearance, Japanese covered bridge, brightly painted temples and pagodas make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Vietnam. At 16h00, we take part in the cooking class. You will have a chance to prepare a typical Vietnamese meal for dinner with instructions from our chef at Hoi An Lantern Town Restaurant. Day 10 : HOI AN - MY SON HOLY LAND - HOI AN - BIKING to CUA DAI BEACH
In the morning, we drive to My Son holy land - once the capital city of Champa Kingdom, a reign in Southeast Asia between the 4th and 12th centuries. My Son Sanctuary is a large complex of religious relics that comprises more than 70 architectural works. The highest tower with double pillars, solid walls, elaborate carvings and striking sculptures reflect the exclusive beauty of Cham architecture, then back to Hoian at noon, lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon, Take 2-3hrs riding on bicycle to go through rural countryside and vegetable village, our riding will finish when we reach Cua Dai beach, spend time for free and relaxing on beach, back the hotel in Hoian by yourself. Day 11 : HOI AN - DA NANG AIRPORT - flight to SAI GON
After breakfast in the hotel, we transfer to Danang airport for short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival at Tan San Nhat Airport, you are met by our guide and transferred to hotel. The bustling Ho Chi Minh City, still called Saigon by many locals, is a center of commerce, finance, culture and tourism in Vietnam. This metropolis ,contradiction of its northern counterpart, is crowded with bikes and motorbikes, excited by numerous shopping areas and sidewalk cafes. We spend half day for visiting War Remnant Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral (built in 1877) and the Central Post Office. Tour end by visiting Ben Thanh Market - the oldest and busiest market in the city. O/N in hotel in Saigon.
Day 12 : SAI GON - BEN TRE
Leave the bustling city of Saigon behind, we depart to the Mekong Delta considered as Vietnam's biggest « rice basket». Stop en route at My Tho to visit a temple of Cao Dai Religion - the local religion which is come from the combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism. Then continue driving to BenTre, we arrive Hung Vuong pier( Ben Tre town), embark and cruise along the Ben Tre River - a tributary of the great Mekong River to explore the local lifestyles and their daily activities. Stop at a brick factory belonged to Mr.Tu Lo to see how Vietnamese people made brick by hand and a coconut candy home factory located along the canal to witness the process of making coconut candies and other souvenirs. Continue rowing through the canals to visit Nhon Thanh village. Stroll around the village to discover the local lifestyle and taste fresh fruit.
Cycling on the small road passing lush rice fields & vegetable gardens, then have lunch at a riverside homestay. The afternoon, continue cycling trip, drop by Mr. Sau Khanh's home to admire his valuable collection of antiques. Learn about Vietnamese farm work and join hand with locals in some activities. Prepare and enjoy your dinner at the homestay. Overnight in the homestay.
Day 13 : BEN TRE - LONG XUYEN
Begin our morning by visiting the local market and the Phu Nhuan temple where you can see an old cycad date back hundreds of years. Take a rowing boat trip on Cai Coi canal towards Hung Vuong pier and disembark. Transfer to Long Xuyen via Sadec where we visit Kien An Cung pagoda built by Huynh Thuy Le's family, the main character of the novel"L'amant" by French novelist Marguerite Duras and Trung Vuong primary school where her mother had taught. Arrive in Long Xuyen in late afternoon. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 14 : LONG XUYEN - SAI GON
In the early morning, embark a sampan then cruise to Long Xuyen floating market the most vibrant and the least explored floating market in Mekong Delta. You will see thousands of boats jostling for space. Each boat is indicated with a sample product on sales hanged over a bamboo pole. Fantastic chance for photography. Our last stop of the day is Cu Lao Ong Ho (Tiger island) in Long Xuyen, homeland of Vietnam former president Ton Duc Thang. Drive to Sai Gon. O/N in the hotel in Saigon.
Day 15 : Tan Son Nhat Airport
Free time for further exploring the city by your own before transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for your departure flight. The hotel room is available until noon only.
