Package Overview

The excursion to Banteay Chhmar starts from Siem Reap by RN6 till Sisophon (102 kms – 1h30 drive) then fork to RN56 (58 kms – 1 h drive) towards O’Smach, border town with Thailand in the North.

The former trail from Siem Reap till Sisophon has become an excellent road RN6 (the whole portion Siem Reap / Poipet at the border with Thailand has been rehabilitated and completed) and can be easily done all year round. The trail from Sisophon to Banteay Chhmar is very good.

The Banteay Chhmar temple (XIIth) is mainly collapsed but some full sections of walls and galleries are in very good state of conservation as well as numerous bas-reliefs. The surroundings of the temple are open and the trail from Sisophon is very picturesque.

Program

Morning departure by road towards Poipet and Thailand then take RN56 at Sisophon for a good trail till Banteay Chhmar. Visit of the temple and lunch. City tour at Sisophon before driving back to Siem Reap arriving in late afternoon.

This excursion may be added to our programmes Angkor Classic or Phnom Penh – Angkor.
