The Baraadsar Lake Trek is one of the Himalayas' few well-known hikes.
It's in the northeastern region of Uttarakhand, near to the Himachal border, between the Rupin and Supin valleys, traveling east and then south. The trip begins in the Rupin valley and continues through different towns, forests, and eventually across the ridge that separates the Rupin and Supin valleys, providing spectacular panoramic views.
During the journey, you will pass through some of the most stunning campgrounds.

Day 8 - Rahla village to Sankri to Dehradun
Day 1 : From Dehradun to Sankri (7-8hrs)
Sankri is a small but popular town in the Himalayan foothills that also serves as the starting point for the famed Kedarkantha Trek. The hamlet is located within the Govind wildlife sanctuary at a height of 6,400 feet above sea level. The distance between Dehradun and Sankri is around 198 kilometres, and it will take you approximately 10 hours to go there. Relax and take in the wonderful scenery of the lush green mountains and beautiful rivers as you travel through the zigzag roads.
Day 2 : From Sankri to Barathachar (2-3hrs)
The next day, you will hike to the Barathachar meadow, which is located just above Phitari Village and takes around 4-5 hours to reach. In Uttarakhand, it is a very small village. You'll pass by the Sarutal lake, which is located in the centre of a meadow, on your journey. It's a very relaxing environment. The path today will only have one ascent and will be rather easy. On your trip up, you'll see a wide range of vegetation and wildlife.
Day 3 : From Barathachar to Dhaldhar Meadows (4-5hrs)
The journey from Barathachar to Dhaldhar would be difficult and long. You'll spend 4 hours walking through the Oak forest before arriving at the Dhaldhar campground, which is nestled in a small valley. You will be astounded to find the adjacent hill completely covered in rhododendron plants. There will be no water on the path at any point. Dhaldhar sits at an elevation of 11,900 feet, so take care of yourself and stay hydrated, as AMS is common at this altitude.
Day 4 : From Dhaldhar to Deobasa (4-5hrs)
Your body need adequate acclimatisation before trekking too high, as it must adjust to the higher altitude (oxygen and air pressure). That is why you will walk to Deobasa today, which is at a height of 12,267 feet and takes around 5 hours to reach. The trail requires you to travel from one mountain crest to the next, across meadows, and back via ridges. Deobasa's campground is chilly, rocky, and windy, and it sits at the confluence of two mountains. However, the Gangotri range and the Baraadsar path will be seen ahead of you. Overnight camping is a great way to relax and enjoy a hot meal.
Day 5 : From Deobasa to Baraadsar Lake Trek (4-5hrs)
The hike from Deobasa to Baraadsar Lake is without a doubt the longest and most difficult of the entire journey. The lake may be seen from a vantage point high above the Baraadsar campground. The lake is about two hours' drive from the Baraadsar meadow camp. Because the entire journey consists of walking on rocks and pebbles, you must tread cautiously. The lake is around 5-6 hours away from Baraadsar, which is 14,765 feet high. Because the temperature in this area is quite cold, you should bring enough of warm clothing with you. There will be no water supply at the campground, so you will have to melt snow to acquire water. Enjoy your meal and set up camp for the night.
Day 6 : Rest Day
At Baraadsar, it is your relaxation day. Rest, relax, or simply stroll around the camp and take in the sights. As you gaze out the window of your tent, you will be awestruck by the majesty of the Himalayan mountains. It is an ideal opportunity to reflect on and settle previous issues, as well as to break free from the routine of daily life. Enjoy your meal and a restful night's sleep in your tent.
Day 7 : From Baraadsar Lake Trek to Rahla village
After breakfast, get out of the house as soon as possible. It'll be a long day because you'll be covering a lot of ground. Trek through meadows and pine trees on your way down. When you cross the forest, you will see Rajma and Wheat fields, indicating that you have arrived at Rahla village. People labouring in the fields and grazing sheep may be seen. You can spend the night there.
Day 8 : Rahla village to Sankri to Dehradun
Start your descent early in the morning after breakfast in Rahla village; the route to Jakhol is steep and takes about an hour to complete. Vehicles for Sankri can be found there. It will take you around 2 hours to drive down to Sankri. Sankri is a well-known little town with a mini-market that also acts as the starting point for numerous hikes. While staying the night, take in the beauty of the area and have a delicious meal.
