Day 1 : Arrival
On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)Bagdogra Airport (IXB)Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction) Siliguri Guest will be received by our executive who will be waiting just outside of the airport or railway station. He will assist guest to board the vehicle to proceed for Phuentsholing The drive is of 165 kilometers i.e. 4 to 4 hours drive through the lush green Tea Estate of Dooars - On arrival at Phuentsholing Check into hotel - The border of India and Bhutan, the Indian side is known as Jaigaon and the Bhutan part is called Phuentsholling - Situated at an altitude of nearly 980 feet is a small settlement Night stay at Hotel at either Phuentsholing or Jaigaon.
Day 2 : Paro
This beautiful city of Bhutan is situated at an altitude of nearly 2250 meters 7382 feet - Paro is a beautiful valley encapsulates the rich culture, scenic beauty with hundreds of myths and legends - Home to many of Bhutan s oldest temples and monasteries and the National Museum - Places you must see when you are Drukgyel Dzong, Rinpung Dzong, Ta Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, Kila Gompa, Druk Choeding - Taktsang Monastery or Tiger's Nest is a good 3 hour climb uphill and is one day program - On arrival at Paro and transfer to the hotel - Evening take a stroll around town and main street - Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 3 : Paro
Morning take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger Nest - It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, the father of the Bhutanese strain of Mahayana Buddhism, arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery - Taktsang was severely damaged by fire in year 1998 and now has been restored in its original grandeur - After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum - The museum collection includes ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons and country s exquisite postage stamps - Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong situated at commanding height, overlooking Paro valley - This Dzong is symbolic as the religious and secular centre of all affairs of the valley - Evening visit a traditional farm house to get an idea on lifestyle of local people - Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 4 : Paro
Chele la (Pass) is situated at an elevation 3988 meters is considered to be one of the highest motor able passes in Bhutan It is nearly 35 kilometers and about an hour later from Paro - About an hour's drive along a thickly - forested road is a botanical paradise - The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari and Jichu Drake - Made all the more mysterious and beautiful with its abundance of prayer flags - Guest can witness the cascades of wild roses; purple and yellow primulas; and swathes of deep blue iris covering the forest floor Back to resort - Guest may spend the day by shopping or simply walking through the town or relax Overnight stay in hotelresort in Paro. Optional - Drive on to Haa (2700 meters8900 feet) - descending all the way for another 22 kilometers nearly an hours drive to Haa - The Haa Dzong view from outside is stunning One can also visit to the famous Monastery of Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple) followed by visit to Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple) Three hours drive back to Paro.
Day 5 : Punakha
After breakfast drive to ruins of Drukgyel Dzong - From this fortress, Bhutanese repelled several invading Tibetan armies during the 17th century. Then visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples of the Kingdom, reflecting the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan - Next drive to Punakha across Dochu La pass (3080 meters) which heralds the most enchanting views of Bhutan - Until 1955, Punakha served as the capital of Bhutan and still it is the winter seat of Je Khenpo - Visit Punakha Dzong built in 17th century at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers - It has been destroyed by four fires and an earthquake in 1897 and has frequently been devastated by flood water coming from the great northern glaciers - The Dzong has now been fully restored to its original splendor - Evening visit local market - Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.
Day 6 : Punakha
Travel to the beautiful alpine valley of Phobjika (10000 feet), the largest wintering site for the endangered black-necked crane. Along the way, the environment changes from semi-tropical to pine forest, and then to an alpine zone that is home to several species of rhododendron, dwarf bamboo, and Grey Langur monkeys - Evening free to stroll around the area - Night stay at hotelresort at Phobjika.
Day 7 : Punakha
Early morning breakfast - Visit against a backdrop of forest-clad mountains, the Gangtey Gonpa temple complex rises dramatically from a cluster of hilltop cottages - One of the oldest Nyingma monasteries in Bhutan, the Gangtey Gonpa has recently been renovated, allowing us to examine the fine workmanship of Bhutan s best woodcarvers, sculptors, and painters. Our visit coincides with the annual Crane Festival, a charming mix of traditional masked and folk dances - Held in the courtyard of the Gonpa, this festival was created by the community to raise awareness for the rare cranes that winter in the valley - Today is also celebrated throughout the country as Children s Day in honor of the fourth king s birthday - After the festival, set off on a half-day hike, stopping to visit with a village family and meet students at a local school along the way - Night stay at hotelresort at Phobjika.
Day 8 : Thimphu
Early morning breakfast - Phobjikha valley; bordered by the Black Mountains National Park, flocks of rare black-necked cranes winter here and wild boar, sambar and Himalayan black bear are also resident - Phobjika is a glacial valley on the western slopes of Black mountain that runs from north to south separating Western Bhutan from the Eastern - Drive to Thimphu (7900 feet), the capital of Bhutan - Cross the Dochu La pass (10000 feet) en route one can enjoy the 200 mile panoramic view of Himalayan peaks (On a clear Day) - Reach Thimpu after 3 hours Check in at Hotel in Thimpu - Evening free to stroll around the area - Enjoy the diversity of the region - Night stay at hotelresort at Thimphu.
Day 9 : Thimphu
Morning visit, Trashichhoedzong, situated on the banks of Wang Chhu - It is home of the National Assembly and the summer residence of capital's venerated monastic community - The Dzong is the impressive result of a redesign of the original medieval structure sanctioned by the Third King, HM Jigme Dorji Wangchuck - Bhutan's National Library - The Textile and Folk Heritage Museum opened in year 2001 is fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese material culture and living traditions - The Memorial Chhorten, a pious landmark for Thimphu's residents - Visit Handicrafts Emporium which displays wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products - Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 10 : Thimphu
After breakfast, drive to Phuentsholing en route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1627, which now houses the School for Buddhist studies. ThimphuPhuentsholing road was built in 1962 by Dantak, the Indian Border road organization - The drive on this route is very pleasant with numerous scenic spots en route - Just before, arriving Phuentsholing, visit Kharbandi Goemba, the monastery built in 1967 - It houses the large and attractive statues of Sakyamuni, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rinpoche - Overnight at the hotel in Phuentsholing.
Day 11 : Departure
