For those new to Kathmandu, the first impression of this urban valley constitutes, among others are an array of temples and monasteries with impressive architecture, the narrow cob-webbed streets with chaotic traffic, and the music playing curio shops in the tourist junctions.
However, take some time to get out of the valley hustle to some less travelled roads, which will take you to places where you will be welcomed by green forests, small villages, paddy fields and majestic view of pristine Himalayan peaks. That is exactly where we take you in our Biking Tour in and around Kathmandu. Pedal with our experienced guide and within some hours you will be cycling along with nature beautified by varying landscapes- home to many village communities and their cultural heritage. You will ride to less known villages away from hordes of tourists and travelers.
There are so many places nearby Kathmandu that rarely see visitors. That does not mean, however, that those places are not beautiful or not worth visiting. In most of the cases it is quite the opposite. Those less travelled periphery villages have a beauty that is not fashioned for regular tourists. They have traditional and cultural elements which are subtle yet fascinating. Those places have temples, shrines, monasteries and shakti peeth that make unique viewing. Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu
Actually, Nepal opens in the air; just before the plane lands at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. If you are, lucky enough with the bright sunshine on your arrival day the wide range of soaring Himalayan Peaks to the North is a magnificent view. As you complete the immigration formalities of the airport and make your way out from the Arrivals Terminal, we would offer you a warm Nepalese welcome and transfer you to your hotel in Thamel in a private vehicle. At hotel, you will have a very easy check-in procedure. Let the flight exhaustion go off in the cozy hotel room. In the evening, we will offer you a welcome dinner in one of the finest cultural restaurants of the city.
Day 2 : Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour
After the breakfast, we will escort you to Pashupatinath- the largest Hindu Temple of Nepal in a private vehicle. The temple dedicated to supreme Hindu God, Shiva banks Bagmati River. At Pashupatinath you will get to see exceptionally carved statues and idols of Hindu deities, a long row of Shiva-Lings, series of small temples and the golden hood at the top of main Temple is truly fascinating. Moreover, an opportunity to witness the Hindu Death ritual at Aryaghat Pashupatinath is an offbeat cultural experience. After the exploration of Pashupatinath we will walk along the busy streets of Kathmandu to Boudhanath. A large domed shaped Buddhist stupa, Boudhanath holds huge religious significance among the Tibetan Buddhists of Nepal. A major shrine on ancient Indo-China trade route Boudhanath offered blessings to traders and scholars for safe journey through the high Himalayan passes to Tibet. Saffron robed monks circumambulating Boudhanath, colorful prayer flags touching the skyline from the dome pinnacle to the base of large monument and the and outlets selling Tibetan souvenirs makes this place a true Tibet outside Tibet. Post lunch the sightseeing tour continues to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The exemplary wooden and stone craftsmanship at the site makes a place the prominent attraction for tourists. The stone paved streets, pagoda style religious monuments inclusive different Hindu deities are the cultural delights of ancient and medieval Nepal at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Today’s final destination for sightseeing tour in Kathmandu takes you to Swayambhunath. A self emerged Buddhist stupa lies on a hilltop overlooking Kathmandu with its watchful eyes. You will get to experience more about Tibetan Buddhism at Swayambhunath.After the full day; sightseeing tour a private vehicle will escort you to your hotel.
Day 3 : Cycling from Lubhu to Panauti 51km
We will start early at dawn today. After meeting our guide, we will ride along the roads of Kathmandu and reach Lubhu via Patan. From Lubhu we will begin the cycling adventure around Kathmandu. First we pedal to Sisneri where we cannot stop ourselves to leave our bicycles and take some pictures- the place offers the perfect scenic view of the Himalayas making the backdrop of the nice and friendly villages. We will than head off to Panauti to spend the night there. At the end of the day, you will have pedaled more than 50 km.
Day 4 : Cycling from Panauti to Dhulikhel Via Namo Buddha 35km
The adventure quotient raises by a huge degree today as we ride along the steep trails right through terraced fields. We keep on pedaling uphill till we reach Namo Buddha, a quiet and serene place revered by the Buddhists. We will then ride down to Dhulikhel where we will be welcomed by a gratifying view of the sunset over the hills. We will stay overnight there. The day includes riding around 35 km.
Day 5 : Cycling from Dhulikhel to Nagarkot 21km
After breakfast, today we will ride northwards from Dhulikhel to arrive in Nagarkot. Nagrkot is one of the most popular hill stations in the proximity of Kathmandu and offers unique view of sunrise and sunset in the scenic mountain range. We will stay overnight in Nagarkot and you will be mesmerized with what a scenic view of sunrise will be awaiting you the next morning.
Day 6 : Cycling from Nagarkot to Changunarayan 15km and Back to Kathmandu
The final day of our biking tour can also be fittingly categorized as the most adventurous one. We will set off after beholding the spectacular sunrise on Mt. Everest from Nagarkot. We will pedal our way on various jeep tracks, typical villages and demanding terrain. We will stop a while in Changunarayn where you can visit the oldest Vishnu temple on Earth. Listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site, this impressive temple is a masterpiece of art and architecture. Later, we will descend down to the Kathmandu valley and conclude our adventurous 6 days biking tour.
Day 7 : Transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport (tia) for Your Departure
Today you will be transferred to TIA for your final departure from Nepal provided that you have no plans to stay further.
