Day 1 : Arrive Delhi
Arrive: Delhi late in the evening. On arrival you will be received by our representative for transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 : Delhi
After breakfast take sightseeing tour of historic city visiting Old Delhi visiting the majestic Red Fort ( outside ), a marvel in red sandstone, Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, both built by emperor Shah Jahan of Taj Mahal fame, Rajghat - memorial of Mahatma Gandhi & a Rickshaw ride past through the silver street in Chandani Chowk, the city tour continues covering
New Delhi, visiting Rashtrapati Bhawan, one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys; the India Gate, a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war; the Laxmi Narayan Temple, visiting built by the Birlas, one of India’s leading industrial families.
Evening visit largest cultural temple, Akshardham temple” visit the temple and its museum, later shopping and return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3 : Delhi - Agra
Morning drive to Agra (203 Kms). Upon arrival in Agra – check into the hotel.
Visit the famous Taj Mahal – the most famous Mughal monument was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It has been described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love, for the emperor was heartbroken when Mumtaz died after 17 years of marriage, during the birth of her 14th child. (Taj Mahal is closed on Friday).
Afternoon visit the Red Fort – lies on the bend of the river Yamuna, almost in the heart of the town. It was built by Akbar as his citadel over the years 1563-73 in the finest architectural style. It has imposing gates and walls of red sandstone and a moat. Overnight at the hotel.
Agra is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-the Taj Mahal. A pleasant town with comparatively slow pace, Agra is known for its superb inlay work on marble and soapstone by craftsmen who are descendant of those who worked under the Mughals. The city is also famous for its carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes. Agra, and the nearby city of Fatehpur Sikri, is conveniently close to Delhi. Besides the Taj Mahal are Agra Fort, Sikandra, Ram Bagh and Itmad-Ud-Daulah-35 kms away are the imperial ruins of the Mughal city, Fatehpur Sikri. Agra is an old city and it is said that its name was derived from Agrabanad, a forest that finds mention in the epic Mahabharata.
After lunch, Later visit Agra Fort, designed and built by Akbar in 1565 A.D., built with barricaded wall of red sand stone; it houses the beautiful Pearl Mosque and numerous palaces including the Jahangir Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Am, Macchhi Bhawan, Nagina Masjid, Meena Bazar, Moti Masjid, Sheesh Mahal, Musamman Burj where from Taj Mahal is visible in all its beauty from one side of the fort. So very ironically, Emperor Sahahjahan, prisoner of his son Aurangzeb in his old age was put in a cell from where he could gaze at the Taj Mahal at a distance, from his cell in the fort. Day 4 : Agra - Chambal National Sanctuary
Morning drive to Chambal National Sanctuary (70 kms). Upon arrival in Chambal, check into your hotel. Chambal National sanctuary is a 400 kilometre stretch of the River Chambal in northern India. The Chambal ravines on both sides of the river are the product of centuries of soil erosion by flood and rain waters, and they form an incredible maze of intertwining mud cliffs, with tropical dry scrub forest. The cliffs and vegetation provide shelter for numerous birds, mammals and reptiles, in particular Gharial Crocodiles. The river itself is one of India's most pristine and as a result it is one of the last surviving habitats of the Gangetic River Dolphin. The sanctuary also provides protection for Marsh Crocodiles, eight species of Turtles and Smooth-Coated Otters. For keen birders it has an impressive bird list and is one of the most reliable places to see Indian Skimmer. Enjoy boat ride across the river. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 : Chambal National Sanctuary - Bharatpur
Morning drive to Bharatpur (125 Kms), en route visit Fatehpur Sikri 37 Kms south west of Agra this beautiful city with beautiful palaces, well planned markets and residential areas was founded by Akbar as his homage to Muslim Sufi Saint Mohammed Salim Chishti. The construction started in 1571 and took 15 years to complete. The city was later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Fatehpur Sikri is now aWorld Heritage site. The Panch Mahal, or Palace of Five Storeys, and the Buland Darwaza, are among the finest specimens of Mughal architecture. It is also arguably the greatest accomplishment of Mughal architecture, surpassed only in reputation but not in its beauty and the awe it inspires by the Taj Mahal. Thereafter drive to Bharatpur. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Afternoon, proceed by cycle rickshaws to the famous Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary which is a wonder of the natural world and no less worth seeing than the marble mausoleum of the Taj. Here over 350 species of birds find refuge in the 29 sq kms of shallow lakes & woodlands of the park. A third of them are migrants many of whom winter in Bharatpur before returning to their breeding grounds as far away as Siberia and Central Asia. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 : Bharatpur
Enjoy cycle rickshaw ride in Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 : Bharatpur - Jaipur
Morning drive to Jaipur (176 Kms). Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day will be free for relaxation and shopping. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 : Jaipur
Morning enjoy a tour of the impressive Amber Fort situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur City. At the foot of the hill you will mount your caparisoned elephant for the slow but steady climb up to the main gate, making your entrance in the time honoured fashion. The Fort, completed in the early 18th century, took over 100 years to build and now, although deserted, offers a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the ruling families.
Afternoon enjoy a tour of the City - "The Pink City" is spectacularly set within surrounding rugged hills, dotted with ancient ruined fortresses. Your tour will include the imposing City Palace, still hometo the Maharaja although several of the rooms are now open to the public. Many antiques and artefacts belonging to the ruling family are housed here, including a collection of weaponry. You will also visit the Hawa Mahal "Palace of the Winds", and the open-air Jantar Mantar Observatory to see the vast astronomical instruments. Enjoy a stroll through the colourful bazaar before returning to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 : Jaipur - Delhi
Morning is free for relaxation and exploring the pink city on your own. In the afternoon drive from Jaipur to Delhi International airport (245 Kms) to connect your flight back home
