The route to the top of Pico Bolivar is both spectacular in its beauty and challenging in its ruggedness. Following the Humboldt trek, youll ascend "La Ventana" and follow the spine of Sierra Nevada National Park via the "Travesia". Then, you hike over a desert paramo of stone and snow, camping every night on the shores of the biggest glacial lakes of the Venezuelan Andes. With the proper climbing equipment, youll summit Pico Bolivar, a peak of 4.978 meters.
Early meet at Merida cable car station and enjoy the ride up to La Aguada station at 3450 mts. We continue on foot to pedro pena camp and begin aclimatation walks nearby.
After breakfast we head back to cable car station and take the ride up to Pico Espejo station at 4765 mts. Begin trek to Base camp and set tents
After a good night rest and hot breakfast we will start the climb up to Pico Bolivar. On this summit attempt, we will face rock, snow, and glacier, which require some technical support by our expert mountain guide. From the summit, you can capture the splendor of the natural surroundings with your camera. Descend back to base camp and enjoy a hot and well-deserved dinner.
Hike back to Pico espejo station and ride down to Merida
