Day 1 : Arrive Paro
Arrive Paro, visit monasteries and temples of Paro. Upon arrival at Paro check in hotel and begin the tour by visiting Kichu Lhakhangone of the oldest temples built by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century AD. Next visit Paro Museum an ancient watchtower housing the National Museum, with abundant culture relics. Later visit Paro Dzongthe finest example of Bhutanese architecture as well as a local religious administrative Centre. In the evening religious talk by one of the Buddhist master for about an hour.
Day 2 : Paro to Thimphu (55km-1½hours)
After breakfast drive to Thimphu. Upon reaching visit Memorial Stupa built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan‘s third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Chorten literally means ‘Seat of Faith’ and Buddhists often call such monuments, the ‘Mind of Buddha’.Later visit, Buddha Point the largest statue in Bhutan from where you could get a clear view of Thimphu valley. Then, visit Trashi chhodzong the “fortress of the glorious religion”which houses some ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body.Dechen Phrodrang “Palace of Great Bliss" now a monastic school. In the Evening, Religious talk by one of the Buddhist Master.
Day 3 : Thimphu to Paro
Thimphu to Paro, Hike to Taktshang (3-4 hours walk round trip). After breakfast hike to Taktshang. Trip to Bhutan is never complete without climbing to Taktsang”, says one tourist. Indeed it’s true as the journey there fills you with spiritual bliss.
Tiger Nest: Taktshang monastery is located atop an 800 meter cliff in Paro. Taktshang or the Tigers lair as the monastery is widely regarded is one of the most important in Bhutan. Its history is associated with the visit of Guru Padmasambhava, the Indian saint who came to Bhutan in the 8th century AD. The cave was named Taktshang after Guru Rimpoche flew into the cave from Kurtoe Singye Dzong in eastern Bhutan riding on a tigress. Later in 1692 the fourth Druk Desi Tenzin Rabgye started to construct monastery and finally completed after three years in 1694.
