Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Paro

    After arrival at Paro check in hotel and begin your tour by visiting Kichu lhakhang one of the oldest temples to have been built in Bhutan by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century AD. Next visit will be Paro Museum an ancient watchtower housing the National Museum, with abundant culture relics.Also visit Paro Dzong built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, perhaps the finest example of Bhutanese architecture as well as a local religious administrative Centre. Later visit, Dungtse Lhakhang a chorten-like temple built in 1433 by the iron bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo. It has three floors representing hell, earth and heaven. Then visit, Jangsarbu Lhakhang located behind Paro Dzong. Temple is home to a magnificent statue of Sakyamuni Buddha that was carried all the way from Lhasa and also houses the protector deity of Paro. Towards Evening religious talk with one of the Buddhist master for about an hour.

  • Day 2 : Paro - Thimphu

    Paro to Thimphu (55km-1½hours). After breakfast drive to Thimphu. Upon reaching, visit Memorial Stupa built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan‘s third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Chorten literally means ‘Seat of Faith’ and Buddhists often call such monuments, the ‘Mind of Buddha’. Later visit, Zangthopelri Lhakhang built in 1960s. Temple possesses some impressive murals and art treasures and is worthy of a visit. The site of the temple was a former battle ground, and the temple was constructed there in order to pacify energies. Later visit, Drubthob Goema / Zilukha Nunnery only nunnery in capital known as Zilukha Anim Dratsang. You may interact with some of the nuns who have devoted their life to spirituality and Buddhism. Visit, Dechen Phrodrang "Palace of Great Bliss" is a Buddhistmonastery in Thimphu, where young monks undergo eight years courses. In the afternoon, visit Trashi chhodzong the “fortress of the glorious religion” Tashichhodzong houses some ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body.In the Eveningreligious talk by one of the Buddhist master for about an hour.

  • Day 3 : Thimphu - Punakha

    Thimphu to Punakha (70km-3hours). After breakfast drive to Punakha the former capital of Bhutan. Stop at Dochulla Pass for photo shooting and to capture beautiful scenario of the mountain and Talo valley. Proceed to Chimmi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the Devine Madman and a sacred place where people pray for children. Upon reaching, visitPunakha Dzong a very beautiful Bhutanese architecture armed by the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River) rivers, built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of Bhutan which houses some rich Buddhist collections.

  • Day 4 : Punakha - Thimphu

    Punakha to Thimphu (70km-3 hours).After breakfast drive back to Thimphu and upon arrival check in hotel. Begin by visiting left over finest temples and monasteries. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang established in 12th century on a site chosen by Lama Phajo Drugom Shigpo, who came from Tibet. From temple courtyard, you can get a fascinating view of Thimphu valley. Later, visit Buddha point the largest statue of Buddha in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.

  • Day 5 : Thimphu - Para (Hike to Taktshang)

    Thimphu to Paro, Hike for Taktshang (3-4 hours walk round trip). After breakfast drive to Paro, check in hotel and make a hike to Taktshang. “Trip to Bhutan is never complete without climbing to Taktsang”, says one tourist. Indeed it’s true as the journey there fills you with spiritual bliss.
    Tiger Nest: Taktshang monastery is located atop an 800 meter cliff in Paro.
    Taktshang or the Tigers lair as the monastery is widely regarded is one of the most important in Bhutan. Its history is associated with the visit of Guru Padmasambhava, the Indian saint who came to Bhutan in the 8th century AD. The cave was named Taktshang after Guru Rimpoche flew into the cave from Kurtoe Singye Dzong in eastern Bhutan riding on a tigress. Later in 1692 the fourth Druk Desi Tenzin Rabgye started to construct monastery and finally completed after three years in 1694.
