Day 1 : International - Siem Reap
Morning: Welcome to Siem Reap airport by your guide and transfer to your hotel. Installation in the rooms if available. Free time. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Afternoon: First discovery of Siem Reap and environs; the visit to Puok silk center at 16kms, on the way to the Thai border, will fill that fist day in Cambodia. You’ll discover there all the stages of silk manufacture, from the mulberry tree growing till the sale of products. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight at hotel.
Day 2 : Angkor
Morning: Visit of Angkor Thom which, after the passage of the South Gate, brings together the Bayon temple, the Terraces of Elephants and the Leper King, the Royal Palace and the Baphuon. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Angkor Thom was built by Jayavarman VII from the end of the 12th century and acquired the status of capital for about 300 years. This is why we encounter in this city some later monuments, but also some that are anterior to the work of the king.
Afternoon: Continue to Angkor Thom with the Kleangs, Prah Pithu, Victory Gate, Thommanon, Chau Say, and then wait for the sunset over the towers of Angkor Wat, a world-famous moment and appreciated by visitors. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel
Day 3 : Angkor
Morning: Visit the Small Circuit with the temples Takeo, Taprohm (superb and world-famous whose giant roots, which have grown over the centuries, enclose whole sections of walls and prevent them from collapsing), Banteay Kdei, Terrace of the Sras Srang, Prasat Kravan. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Visit of the Grand Circuit with the temples Pre Rup, Mebon, Tasom, Neak Pean, Prah Khan (another major temple of the site of Angkor, which was once a city surrounded by a 700m side wall, housing a university). Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 : Angkor
Morning: Excursion to Kbal Spean “the river of the thousand Lingas”, part of river carved over a few hundred meters, which is reached after a small walk in forest, and Banteay Srei, small pink sandstone temple finely chiseled, through the fields and local villages. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Entirely at Angkor Wat, the most famous and extensive monument of the complex, a masterpiece of Khmer art, whose central towers are the pride and symbol of an entire nation. The temple is surrounded by moats and galleries adorned with sumptuous bas-reliefs. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 : Angkor
Morning: Excursion to the Tonle Sap Lak with boat tour of floating fishing villages. Small stroll in ox-cart before transfer to the pier. Tonle Sap is the world’s finest freshwater lake which welcomes one of the largest colony of threatened waterbird species in Southeast Asia. The life of fishermen is truly unique: installed on floating houses on very high stilts, they depend on water fluctuation and use a wide variety of fishing gear whether it is family, artisanal or industrial. Return to Siem Reap.
Visit of Angkor Artwork, workshop for the manufacture of handicrafts, under the leadership of a renowned craftsman expert in lacquer, gilding and polychromy, who employs local, young and hard of hearing workers, and perpetuates the tradition of traditional techniques for the design of its products (lacquers, statues, paintings …). Under his leadership, in the space of 10 years, 350 artisans will be trained in the practices of crafts. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Afternoon: A last visit to Old Market for shopping, and the former French colonial district which adjoins, will complete this tour of Siem Reap, the city of temples whose name is now highly evocative.
The markets of Cambodia are rich and colorful and you can stroll through the aisles in search of the object sought after, to take away or to offer. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 : Siem Reap - Battambang
Morning: Breakfast at hotel then departure to Battambang by car, with driver and guide, the second largest town of Cambodia (around 3 hours). Arrive at hotel, free time and lunch.
Afternoon: Explore the town, which has kept its colonial charm with some French trading houses on the bank of Stung Sangke river, then transfer to the railway line for a bamboo train tour (small motorized platform using the railway line on some kilometers). Dinner. Night at hotel.
Day 7 : Battambang and Environs
Morning: Breakfast at hotel. Full day visit of the environs of Battambang with Phsar Prahok temple then Banan temple (XIth). Lunch.
Afternoon: Visit Battambang museum which includes a fine collection of statues and finely carved lintels. Then transfer and visit Phnom Sampov and Kamping Poy. Dinner. Night at hotel.
Day 8 : Battambang - Phnom Penh
Breakfast at hotel. Take the road towards Phnom Penh with a first stop at Kompong Luong floating village, one of the biggest on Tonle Sap lake. Road again and stop in a village where craftsmen work copper and silver then another village specialized in potteries making. Lunch. A last stop at Oudong, former Khmer capital located on a hill with stunning view of the countryside from the top, before arriving at Phnom Penh in late afternoon. Transfer to hotel, free time. Dinner. Night at hotel.
Day 9 : Phnom Penh
Breakfast at hotel then full day visit of the capital including the Wat Phnom, the Royal Palace housing the Silver Pagoda (first built in 1866 after King Norodom’s final installation in Phnom Penh following the abandonment of Oudong. All the components of the Royal Palace were reconstructed in hard, while maintaining the same architecture, in 1917, under the reign of King Sisowat), the National Museum (a magnificent Khmer classical ocher-colored building housing an admirable collection of Cambodia’s glorious past), the Genocide Museum of Toul Sleng (former school converted into a torture center under the Pol Pot regime), the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek (memorial containing the remains of the Cambodians executed by the Khmer Rouges and located on the outskirts of Phnom Penh) and the Central Market (yellow-coloured, built in the 1930s, consists of an immense dome and four wings that cover vast ramifications of walkways with goods stands). Lunch during visits and dinner in local restaurants, overnight at the hotel.
Option: Plae Pakaa show at National Museum performs in high and low seasons, which transports you to the different regions of the Kingdom, leading you through traditional ceremonies and celebrated dances, in the splendid gardens of the National Museum. Take part in this exploration of Cambiodia’s rich culture inspired by the Angkorian era. Supplement +13USD per adult, +06USD per child.
Day 10 : Phnom Penh, Mount Chiso, Phnom Da, the canals of Takeo, Kep
Breakfast at hotel then departure by road towards the border with Vietnam. First stop at Tonle Bati (vast expanse of water where the people of Phnom Penh come and relax) and Taprohm temple. Transfer to nearby Phnom Chiso where you’ll admire the panorama of the Cambodian countryside from the top and visit the remains of the temple standing there (503 steps to get there). It’s worth a sweat. Transfer to Takeo and lunch.
After the break, board a boat to reach Phnom Da (VIIth/VIIIth) via a large canal dating back to the Funan era (IVth/Vth), in very good state of conservation, in the middle of vast rice fields. You will see all along the canal special fishers digging the bottom of the canal with rakes, in search of some period coins. Visit Phnom Da and Angkor Borei Museum. The trip lasts under 3 hours. Back to Takeo port and transfer to Kep, through rice fields and orchards along the road leading to the seaside. Transfer to hotel and free time. Dinner. Night at hotel.
Day 11 : Kep to Sihanoukville Along the Cambodian Coast
Morning: Breakfast at hotel then departure by road towards Kampot by the bucolic road skirting the coast. You’ll see small fishing villages with their boats moored in port. Kampot is a small provincial town with its outdated charm and some colonial-era villas still preserved in its center. Continuation till Sihanoukville and check-in hotel. Lunch on your own and beginning of your beach stay. Your accompanying guide and driver end their service there and return to Phnom Penh.
Afternoon: Free time by the sea or the swimming-pool of the hotel. Dinner on your own. Night at hotel.
Day 12 : Sihanoukville
Breakfast at hotel. Full day free time by the sea or the swimming-pool of the hotel. Lunch and dinner on your own. Night at hotel.
Day 13 : Sihanoukville
Breakfast at hotel. Full day free time by the sea or the swimming-pool of the hotel. Lunch and dinner on your own. Night at hotel.
Day 14 : Sihanoukville
Breakfast at hotel. Full day free time by the sea or the swimming-pool of the hotel. Lunch and dinner on your own. Night at hotel.
Day 15 : Sihanoukville - Phnom Penh - Departure
Morning: Breakfast at hotel. Last moments of free time by the sea or the pool of the hotel. Lunch on your own.
Afternoon: Your driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby to ensure your transfer with his vehicle then take the road to Phnom Penh (app. 4 hours) and transfer to Pochentong airport according to your flight schedule.
The transfer for your international flight will be made 2 hours before departure of the aircraft. This transfer will take place 1 hour before takeoff if you take a domestic flight.
