Day 1 : Arrival
You will be met at Cape Town Airport and transferred to your hotel in this beautiful city, within sight of Table Mountain.
Check in and relax in your magnificent surroundings.
Day 2 : Kirstenbosch Gardens
Today we recommend you purchase a Blue Route pass onboard the Hop-Off Bus, which takes a longer circular route around the back of Table Mountain.
Visit Kirstenbosch Gardens, which is world renowned for its wide diversity of fynbos and protea and the small fishing harbour at Hout Bay, where you can take a ferry to Seal Island. You can also stop at Camps Bay beach on the way home.
Day 3 : Hout Bay
Today we recommend an optional full day tour to the beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you may see baboons, ostrich and perhaps even dolphins or whales in season (July/November).
Your tour travels through Hout Bay and along spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape Point peninsula, returning via Simons Town, Fish Hoek, Constantia and Kirstenbosch Gardens. This is a scenic tour of the whole Cape Peninsula, with the optional opportunity of visiting the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.
Day 4 : Cape Town
At leisure to relax and explore the 'Mother City' of Cape Town.
Many optional activities are available in this beautiful city. You can visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned (advance booking essential in season), Kirstenbosch Gardens and the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
Golf and deep sea game fishing are available, or you can or simply relax on Camps Bay beach – the choice is yours.
Day 5 : Stellenbosch Winelands
Today we recommend an optional full day tour to the renowned Stellenbosch Winelands, travelling through the scenic Franschhoek Valley where a handful of French Huguenot refugees started South Africa’s now famous wine industry.
Explore the historic university town of Stellenbosch and several wine estates on this famous wine route, which stretched from Paarl through to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Enjoy a cellar tour and some wine tasting, before returning to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
Day 6 : Cape Town
This morning you will be collected from your Cape Town hotel around 08h00 for your small group tour along the beautiful Garden Route.
We leave Cape Town via Du Toits Kloof Pass and travel through the charming town of Montagu and the mountains of the Huis River and Tradouw Pass, travelling along the famous Route 62. In the small town of Barrydale we visit a local farm school, where you can interact with the children and their teachers and learn more about this local farming community (subject to school being open).
Continue through diverse landscapes and ever-changing scenery to the to the ostrich capital of Oudtshoorn, and enjoy an included dinner.
Day 7 : Cango Caves
We start today with a visit to the world famous Cango Caves, a vast series of underground halls and caverns formed over 20 million years ago in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains. The caves, which extend for over 3 miles, contain spectacular stalagmites and stalactites and offer relatively easy access.
We return to Oudtshoorn where we visit a local Ostrich Farm and learn more about these huge flightless birds and their magnificent plumage. Here enjoy an included lunch that is likely to include ostrich steak.
In the afternoon we drive over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to George and Wilderness, enjoying the scenic drive along the Garden Route to the oyster capital of Knysna. Check into your hotel in this area of great scenic beauty.
Note: In season we recommend bookings Knysna restaurants online in advance of your visit, to avoid disappointment.
Day 8 : Knysna Lagoon
Today enjoy a boat ride on Knysna Lagoon, the entrance to which is guarded by two magnificent sandstone cliffs.
The balance of your day is at leisure to explore Knysna, with its many interesting craft shops and restaurants.
Day 9 : Garden Route
Today we leave Knysna and continue along the Garden Route via George and Mossel Bay to Albertinia, a small town set against the backdrop of the majestic Langeberg Mountains.
On arrival enjoy an afternoon open-top game drive at a malaria free private game reserve, that is home to many animals and birds including the Big Five. Afterwards enjoy an included dinner.
Day 10 : Swellendam
Enjoy another early morning game drive today, before we depart for the picturesque town of Swellendam. This charming town was founded in 1745 and is famous for its Cape Dutch architecture.
Our journey continues southwards to the small seaside town of Hermanus. From July to November, southern right and humpback whales come here to breed and this is considered the best location for land-based Whale Watching in the world. Once severely endangered, these magnificent creatures of the deep are now breeding successfully in the area due to a major international conservation effort.
Check in to your hotel and enjoy the natural beauty of the coastline, before enjoying an included dinner.
Day 11 : Franschhoek
We leave Hermanus today and head off to Franschhoek for a wine tasting.
Afterwards we continue to Cape Town, where you will be dropped off at your hotel at the end of your tour.
Day 12 : Cape Peninsula
At leisure to relax on the wonderful beaches of the Cape Peninsula under warm blue South African skies.
Many optional day tours are available, or simply relax and enjoy the beaches and many excellent restaurants.
Day 13 : Cape Peninsula
