Arrive at Chandigarh by morning. With mesmerizing glimpses of mighty vistas and dense foliage, the road to Narkanda in winters is covered in fog and snow, especially in the mornings. Narkanda is a quaint village sequestered in the folds of the Himalayas. It is situated at a distance of around 65 kilometres from a popular tourist destination, Shimla. Apple farming is the main source of income for the people, apart from tourism which enriches the livelihood and diversity of this place. The off-beat location of Narkanda is a perfect destination for people looking to escape the hustle of urban towns without going too remote.

  • Day 2 : Day 2 – Narkanda to Chitkul

The trail proceeds to Chitkul, an enchanting hamlet encompassing the picturesque Kinnaur Valley. The scenic village lies in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and is the only motorable village on the India-Tibet border. Along the way, the river Satluj follows the trail, flowing in the opposite direction. As the day progresses, the clouds clear up slightly, revealing towering mountains and deep valleys. After some time, we will come across a small waterfall by the roadside. Spiti Valley in winter is a majestic sight, sprawling across misty forests and furrowed trails marked by sodden soil. The trail advances through half-tunnels and opens up to the village of Tapri, which is a few minutes behind Karcham–a road that divulges to Reckong Peo and Sangla Valley. You will come across several small streams that eventually spiral around deep valleys to meet the junction where the Baspa river from Sangla meets Sutlej. After that, we proceed towards Karcham Wangtoo dam before absorbing the transcendent beauty of the towering snow peaks that follow the trail until Chitkul.

  • Day 3 : Day 3 – Chitkul to Nako

We start our day early as we proceed with our road trip en route over Hindustan Tibet Highway. The road is famous for its magnificent views and proximity to Tibet, snaking through the northern parts of Nako, the last village in the Kinnaur district. We shall visit the famous Nako lake - The lake has become famous for the many bird-sounds that can be heard in the area and Nako Monastery - The monastery was built in 1025 AD, making it one of the oldest standing structures in the region. It is a restoration centre and museum for ancient Buddhist paintings and murals. Overnight stay in Nako homestay.

  • Day 4 : Day 4 – Nako to Kaza

At the break of dawn, we proceed to Kaza via Tabo Dhankar. On the way to Kaza, the next stop is Dhankar Monastery. This beautiful monastery is mounted at the top of a cliff in the beautiful hamlet of Dhankar village. At an elevation of over 3800 meters, the 16-century old fort monastery is connected to the rest of the valley through a road, suitable for small vehicles only. We proceed on our journey to Kaza, the largest township and commercial centre in Spiti Valley. The scenic hamlet is situated on the banks of the Spiti River. Frozen icicles are deposited on the terrace of houses as the sun shines brightly, water drips down from the roofs onto the ground, creating small pools. Night Stay at Kaza.

  • Day 5 : Day 5 – Kaza

In the morning, we continue our Spiti Valley Road Trip with a drive to the renowned Key Monastery. Key is predominantly the largest monastery in Spiti Valley and presumably one of the oldest in the region. The splendid view of the snow-covered hills wraps around the landscape, offering the peace and calm of nature in subtle hues. Spiti Valley Winter Tour Packages usually include a night stay at Key Monastery, an excellent opportunity for travellers to get to know the culture and tradition of the monks. After this, we advance towards the quaint village of Hikkim, sequestered between the townships of Komik and Langza, the two other elegant high altitude villages in the region. It prominently looks like an extension of the other two villages therefore, we can easily maneuver through the roads to reach the other two villages. Hikkim is one of the most captivating villages in the region- with its snow-capped peaks and green and brown patches of soil covered in snow during winters. At an altitude of 4600 meters, the village of Komic is popularly known for housing the highest motorable monastery in the world, the Tangyud Monastery. The last village on our journey is Langza, a popular spot for hunting marine fossils and catching a glimpse of the Chau Chau Kang Nelda peak sitting at the top of the village. Drive back to Kaza for an overnight stay.

  • Day 6 : Day 6 – Kaza to Chandratal

In the morning, we advance towards Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia. The spectacular bridge stands at a staggering height of 13596 ft and precariously connects Chicham and Kibber. A 1000 ft deep gorge lies below the bridge, known by the name of Samba Lamba Nallah. The bridge is an easy alternative to Kibber from Losar. After crossing Chicham Bridge, we proceed with a drive to Chandratal Lake. The sparkling blue colour of the lake has a tranquillizing effect on the onlooker. After relishing the serene lake's grandeur and beauty, we camp under the glittering stars at Chandratal.

  • Day 7 : Day 7 – Chandratal to Manali via Rohtang

On the last day of our Spiti Valley Road Trip, we will head back to Manali. As you make your way back, the view of the mountains and forests will make you feel nostalgic, leaving you pining for more. The adventures of the past few days will leave an indelible mark on your memory. The drive to Manali via Atal Tunnel will take around 9 hours.

  • Day 8 : Day 8- Manali to Chandigarh drop

After breakfast depart for Delhi. You can relive your memories by looking at other Ladakh Tour Packages. End of Spiti road trip.
