In this travel plan you are exploring Uttarakhand, also known as Devbhoomi or the Land of Gods, is home to numerous temples and welcomes devotees all year round. Among the countless religious sites and circuits that devotees visit in Uttarakhand, one of the most prominent is the Char Dham Yatra. This Yatra or pilgrimage is a tour of four holy sites - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath – nestled high up in the Himalayas. In Hindi, 'char' means four and 'dham' refers to religious destinations.
The high-altitude shrines remain shut for around six months every year, opening in summers (April or May) and closing with the onset of winter (October or November). It is believed that one should complete the Char Dham Yatra in a clockwise direction. Hence, the pilgrimage starts from Yamunotri, proceeds towards Gangotri, onto Kedarnath, and finally ends at Badrinath. The journey can be completed by road or by air (helicopter services are available).
Trip starts from HARIDWAR – BARKOT – YAMUNOTRI – UTTARKASHI – GANGOTRI – GUPTKASHI – KEDARNATH – BADRINATH – JOSHIMATH – RUDRAPRAYAG – HARIDWAR end.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival Haridwar

  Guest will be received by our representative at Haridwar railway station / Dehradun. Transfer to Hotel. On arrival check in to the hotel. Evening enjoy the Ganga Aarti (by walking or by local vehicle - own). Overnight stay at hotel.

• Day 2 : HARIDWAR – BARKOT (180km / 5hrs)

  After early breakfast check out from hotel and 08:00am start drive towards Barkot. After collect some basic information start your journey to Barkot. Later drive to Barkot. Check into the hotel arrival in Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot.

• Day 3 : BARKOT – YAMUNOTRI – BARKOT (36kms drive & 6kms Trek one side))

  Very early morning start journey towards Yamunotri with packed breakfast, drive to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti. Start your trek from here to Yamunotri (6kms) (Either by walk or by horse or by Doli at own cost). After arrival at Yamunotri take bath in warm waters of Surya Kund (Hot Spring). Enjoy Darshan of "Yamunaji". Return trek to Jankichatti. Later drive towards Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot.

• Day 4 : BARKOT – UTTARKASHI (890km / 3-4hrs)

  Morning after breakfast, relax for a while. Later drive to Uttarkashi. Visit Shivgufa on the way to Uttarkashi. In Uttarkashi visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple. After that, check in hotel. Day free for rest. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

• Day 5 : UTTARKASHI – GANGOTRI – UTTARKASHI (100km/3hrs –oneway)

  After breakfast, drive to Gangotri. On the way visit Gangnani Hot Spring. Take a holy dip in Kund. Later drive to Gangotri via beautiful Harsil valley. On arrival at Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges which is also called Bhagirathi at its origin. Perform Pooja and Darshan, after that relax for some time in the lovely surroundings. Later return drive to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

• Day 6 : UTTARKASHI – GUPTKASHI (220km / 8hrs)

  Breakfast at hotel and check out, drive to Guptkashi. Enroute see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakini River comes from Kedarnath, drive alongside the river to reach Guptakashi, visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into the hotel on arrival in Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.

• Day 7 : GUPTKASHI – KEDARNATH – GUPTKASHI (30km drive + 14km trek)- oneway

  Very early morning with packed breakfast from hote, proceed to Kedarnath. To reach Kedarnath you have two options. One if by trekking or other is by Air via Helicopter (optional cost-Advance booking is highly recommended). Back to Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.

  By Helicopter: Morning our driver will transfer to Helipad location (Phata, Guptkashi, Sirsi etc) as per helicopter ticket time. Kindly inform the driver timings of helicopter mentioned on the ticket previous day. Different aviation has different location for their helicopter service. Our driver will provide you both pick and drop to hotel to Helipad. At arrival in Kedarnath reach to Kedarnath Temple. Visit Kedarnath Temple. After darshan return to the helipad. Take return helicopter. Our driver will pick up you from helipad and take you to your hotel.
  
  By Trek: To reach Kedarnath by trekking route first you have to reach Gaurikund. We will drive to Sonprayag early in the morning. Our car will drop to Sonprayag. From Sonprayag 5 kms drive to Gaurikund local jeep is available, sharing basis jeeps guests can book directly at own cost. Gaurikund to Kedarnath is further 14 Kms trek. Due to long trek guests needs to start very early in the morning. Get packed breakfast from hotel to start early. Horse / Pony / Palakhi is also available for trekking at Gaurikund. Guests can book that at own cost (price not fix, it can be change due to heavy rush). Visit Kedarnath Temple. Later trek down to Gaurikund. Take jeep to Sonprayag at own cost. Our driver will pick up you from Sonprayag and take you to your hotel. Overnight stay.
  
  Note: If you wish to stay at Kedarnath, will be optional cost-by own.
  Kedarnath journey / treking can be hectic due to weather conditions or huge devotees gathering, so be prepare for the same.

• Day 8 : GUPTKASHI – BADRINATH (230km / 8-9hrs)

  (if stay in kedarnath, early morning start return journey to Guptkashi - Back to hotel and collect the luggage and proceed towards Badrinath) Morning after breakfast, transfer to Badrinath. Check in to the hotel arrival in Badrinath. Pilgrims after having a bath in the Taptkund have the Darshan of Badrivishal & Aarti in evening. Brahamakapal is significant for Pinddan - Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus). There are other interesting sightseeing spots like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and the "Mukh of the Saraswati River”. Just within the three kms of Badrinath. Overnight stay at Badrinath.

  Morning enjoy the after breakfast, transfer to Rudraprayag via Joshimath. Visit on the way Darshan of VishuPrayag, Narsingh Temple in Joshimath, KarnPrayag and NandPrayag. Check into the hotel arrival in Rudraprayag. Overnight stay at Rudraprayag.
