  • Day 1 : Arrival Chennai

    Arrive at Chennai International Airport. Meet by our representative and transfer to hotel.

    Chennai, India’s fourth largest city, is also called the Gateway to the South. From a tiny hamlet in 1639, it grew around the Fort St. George built by the British .A lush green city famed for its temples, silk, music and dance, Chennai gives a sense of serenity and spaciousness, enhanced by one of the world’s largest and most beautiful beaches, the Marina beach.

    On arrival, check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

  • Day 2 : Chennai Drop & Arrival Madurai

    After breakfast, take a half day tour of the city. Visit the museum to see the bronze gallery with its superb collection of Chola art. Drive through the flower and fruit market, past the High Court built in Indo-Saracenic style, the Fort Museum with its collection of colonial memorabilia and Marina Beach. Visit the San Thome Cathedral said to house the remains of St Thomas the Apostle, Kapaleshwara temple and the Snake Park.

    Later in the afternoon, check out from hotel and you will be transferred to Chennai Airport for onwards journey towards next destination.

    Later in the evening arrive at Madurai Airport. Meet by our representative and transfer to hotel. Madurai, the second largest city of Tamil Nadu, is an important cultural and commercial center. With a history going back to the 6th century BC, it was once the seat of Tamil learning and still the place where the Tamil language is spoken in its purest form. The old city was planned in the shape of a lotus with the Meenakshi temple, the town’s main attraction, at the centre. Madurai has long been a center of learning and pilgrimage.

    On arrival, check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

  • Day 3 : Madurai- Rameshwaram - Madurai

    After breakfast, proceed for full day excursion to Rameshwaram. Rameswaram, known as the Varanasi of the South, is a holy island 154 km from Madurai. It is sacred for Hindus as this is where Rama is said to have worshipped Shiva to absolve himself from the killing of Ravana. A pilgrim to Varanasi is expected to visit Rameswaram next to gain the full fruit of his prayers. At the core of the town is Ramanathaswamy temple, one of the most important temples in South India.

    Later in the evening drive back to Madurai.

  • Day 4 : Madurai - Kanyakumari

    After breakfast, take a half-day city tour of Madurai visiting the great Meenakshi Temple dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva. It is an outstanding example of Dravidian temple architecture, with towering Gopurams covered with stucco images of gods, goddesses and animals. The sanctuary is open only to Hindus. Also visit the Tirumala Nayak Palace, a gracious 17th century building in the Indo-Saracenic style famous for stuccowork on its domes and arches.

    Later in the afternoon, check out from hotel and drive towards Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari, the southernmost point of mainland India, lies at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. It is basically a pilgrimage town dedicated to the virgin Goddess Devi Kanya whose temple overlooks the shoreline. On a rock about 500 m offshore stands the Vivekananda Memorial, dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, a great Indian philosopher. The construction reflects architectural styles from all over India. Kanyakumari is the only place in India where one can watch the sunset and the moonrise simultaneously on a full moon evening.

    On arrival, check in to the hotel. Evening visit to the beach to view the spectacular sunset.

  • Day 5 : Kanyakumari - Kovalam

    After breakfast, check out from hotel and drive towards Kovalam. Just 12 km to the south of Trivandrum lies Kovalam, an uncluttered beach of silvery sands fringed with rows of tall palm trees. Once just a series of sandy bays separated by rocky promontories, deserted except for some fishing villages, it has become a major tourist centre. Kovalam is a pleasant seaside place with a sheltered bay and a wide choice of water sports.

  • Day 6 : Kovalam

    After breakfast, proceed for half day sight seeing of Trivandrum. On a half-day sightseeing tour of Trivandrum visit the 260 year old Padmanabha Swami Temple (non-Hindus cannot enter), Napier Museum, Sri Chitra Art Gallery (both are closed on Mon/Wed mornings), the Zoological gardens and Reptile House, and the Observatory. Also visit Kanakakunnu Palace, which is a gracious building in the Indo-Saracenic style famous for the stuccowork on its domes and arches.

    Later in the evening leisure on the world famous Kovalam Beach.

  • Day 7 : Kovalam - Kumarakom

    After breakfast, check out from hotel and drive towards Kumarakom. The tourist village of Kumarakom lies in the scenic backwater area, on the shore of the pleasant Vembanad lake,16 km away from Kottayam. Here an old rubber plantation around the lake has been developed into a bird sanctuary. A path goes through the swamp to the main nesting area, while the island in the middle of the lake can be reached by boat.

    On arrival, check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure at the backwater resort.

    Overnight at Kumarakom

  • Day 8 : Kumarakom - Thekkady

    After breakfast, check out from hotel and drive towards Thekkady. Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary, encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man-made Periyar Lake, it attracts over 300,000 visitors a year. Though the sanctuary was made a part of Project Tiger in 1973, it is better known for its elephants.

    On arrival, check in to the hotel. Afternoon, proceed for half day guided Spice Plantation Tour. Later in the evening free for shopping in the Spices Market.

    Overnight at Thekkady

  • Day 9 : Thekkady - Munnar

    Early morning go for boating in Lake Periyar inside the famous Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary.

    Later after breakfast, check out from hotel and drive towards Munnar. Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. 1600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town.

    On arrival check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

    Overnight at Munnar

  • Day 10 : Munnar

    After breakfast, proceed for full day sight seeing of Munnar. After breakfast, proceed for full day sight seeing tour of Munnar visiting the Top Station, 1700m above sea level, this is the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road, tea plantations, the Mattupetty dam, and the Eravikulam National Park to view the Mountain Goats. Eravikulam is the natural habitat of the Nilgiri Tahr, Rajamala is 2695 m above sea level.

  • Day 11 : Munnar - Cochin

    After breakfast, check out from hotel and drive towards Cochin. Cochin (Kochi) is spread across islands and promontories in a stunning location between the Arabian Sea and the Backwaters. The city was founded in 1341 when a flood created a natural safe port, which became the principal harbour for Malabar coast’s spice trade. Cochin was on the main trade route between Europe and China. The rulers invited people of various religions to settle here, attracting the Jews and the Christians who built places of worship and their own communities.

    On arrival, check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Evening free for shopping in the market.

    If interested, you can proceed for watching Kathakali Dance in the evening. Kathakali literally meaning "story dance" is the pantomimic dance drama, the dancing and the acting being blended together into an inseparable form. It is a combination of facial expressions and body movements, which brings out the thought and emotion of the character. Kathakali is predominantly a male art and the dancing is mostly of the masculine type. The position taken by the actor is angular. He never stands erect while acting, his knees being spread out and his legs forming a rhombus, his hands bent at the elbow and his palms on his hips. The outer feet are never flat on the ground and still the actor maintains a perfect balance. The female character is lasya which is gentle and grateful.

  • Day 12 : Cochin - Onwards

    After breakfast, take a half day tour of the city visiting the Dutch Palace, which has some of India’s most beautiful murals, the Jewish Synagogue in the heart of Jew Town and the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets. See St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was originally buried, and the Santa Cruz Church with its pastel coloured interior and carved wooden panels.

    Later in the afternoon, check out from hotel and you will be transferred to Chennai Airport on time to board the onwards flight towards native place.
