Chiang MaiThe Lampang Elephant Conservation Center was founded in 1993 to care for more than 50 Asian elephants in a beautiful forest. The conservation center is a must see destination for any visitor before going further in Thailand. This day trip includes watching elephant bathing, elephant show and baby elephants, followed by a horse ride before heading to some temples in the two ancient cities of Lampang and Lampoon.

FULL ITINERARY

This trip leaves Chiang Mai along a mountainous highway that takes visitors to the Lampang Elephant Conservation Center. While there, you will be thrilled by their elephant demonstration and fascinated by a visit to a nearby elephant hospital. After a local lunch, you will take a sightseeing trip around the city of Lampang in a horse carriage before visiting the famous temples Wat Pra Kaew Don Tao and Wat Phra Dhat Lampang Luang. On the return trip to Chiang Mai, you will make a side trip to Lampoon with a history dating back to A.D. 700, and home of several ancient and revered temples including Wat Prathad Hariphunchai. The final leg of the trip includes a fascinating drive along the old Lampoon-Chiang Mai Road.
