Chinese New Year is the most important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival. Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally run from Chinese New Year's Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar. Traditionally, the festival was a time to honor deities as well as ancestors.



Often, the evening preceding Chinese New Year's Day is an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner. Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of "good fortune" or "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity." Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes.



Highlights:
Spring festival, we will visit the birthplace of the Spring festival, an ancient town called Langzhong. The visit is specially design to obtain a better understanding about the history of Chinese New Year.



Lantern Festival, we will visit Zigong which is the originator of the Chinese Lantern Festival. It has been copied in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. As one of the Historical and Cultural Cities of China, Zigong is called "Lantern Town in the South Kingdom".



Celebrated Food, we will guide you to local market to visit and obtain a better understanding about the cooking ingredients, vegetables and meat we use in our cooking. Then we will give a lecture on the history of special cuisine of the festival.



Stone Carvings, Anyue Buddha stone carvings (around 521 AD), flourished in the Tang and Five Dynasties and the Song. Dating back over 1,300 years. The recent survey of cultural artifacts, the county has Cliff Figures in 105, about 100,000 statues, hundreds of high respect of more than 3 meters, 5 meters above the 40 statue, 15 meters above the two. And has well-preserved heritage value of a certain size and there are 45 stone.



Buddhism, the Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre (233 ft) tall stone statue, built during the Tang Dynasty. It is carved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers in the southern part of Sichuan province in China, near the city of Leshan. The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below his feet. It is the largest stone Buddha in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world.



Chengdu Panda Breeding Base, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. We will visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development, from a baby panda to the full-grown giant panda.

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrive Chengdu

    Welcome dinner, AbsolutePanda guide will have a short briefing.

  • Day 2 : Drive to Langzhong

    Langzhong is famous known as the birthplace of the Spring Festival, located on the northeastern border of the Sichuan Basin, this ancient city has a history of more than 2,300 years. Langzhong boasts fertile land, nourishing river waters, an agreeable climate, and abundant produce. Its architectural styles represent ancient Chinese residential philosophy, the chessboard-shaped design bringing together Chinese building styles from both north and south.

  • Day 3 : Langzhong to Mianzhu

    Mianzhu New Year Painting is one of the four greatest New Year Paintings in China. Putting New Year Paintings on the front doors of a house is one of many traditional ways to celebrate Chinese Spring Festival in many parts of China. In one such painting, the artists use water colors to draw figures like Fu Wa, wishing the little boy could bring fortune and good luck to the entire family in the coming year.

  • Day 4 : Mianzhu to Chengdu

  • Day 5 : Chengdu Market

    Today is a Chinese New Year Eve. We will guide you to local market to visit and obtain a better understanding about the cooking ingredients, vegetables and meat we use in our cooking. Then we will give a lecture on the history of special cuisine of the festival.

  • Day 6 : New Year Celebration

    Happy Chinese New Year! The first day of Chinese New Year is for the welcoming of the deities of the heavens and earth, officially beginning at midnight. It is a traditional practice to light fireworks, burn bamboo sticks and firecrackers and to make as much of a din as possible to chase off the evil spirits.

  • Day 7 : Chengdu Panda Base to Leshan

    In the morning,we will visit the Chengdu Panda Breeding Base, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. We will visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development, from a baby panda to the full-grown giant panda.

    Zigong Lantern Festival is the originator of the Chinese Lantern Festival - which has been copied in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. As one of the Historical and Cultural Cities of China, Zigong is called "Lantern Town in the South Kingdom".

  • Day 10 : Dazu - Anyue

    Listed as a World Heritage Site, the Dazu Rock Carvings are made up of 75 protected sites containing some 50,000 statues, with over 100,000 Chinese characters forming inscriptions and epigraphs. Their rich diversity of subject matter, both secular and religious.They provide outstanding evidence of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.

  • Day 11 : Anyue to Chengdu
