This tour takes you to Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, to Lake Titicaca and onwards to Cusco, to visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas and do a trek to Machu Picchu. Then you explore the Amazon rainforest of Manu National Park. At the end you take a panoramic flight over the enigmatic Nasca lines and visit the Ballestas Islands on a boat tour.

Day 1 : Arrival in Lima
After your arrival in Lima we will transfer you to your Hotel in the Miraflores neighborhood of Lima.

Day 2 : From Lima to Arequipa
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Arequipa. Transfer to your Hotel. Free time to relax and get a first glance of the UNESCO cultural heritage city.
In the afternoon your guide meets you at the hotel for a private walking tour of the 'White City' to see the Plaza de Armas with the Cathedral, the famous Santa Catalina monastery and other sites. We enjoy the view of the impressive snow capped Chachani mountain. Hotel.

Day 3 : From Arequipa to the Colca Canyon
After breakfast our guide picks you up for your tour to the Colca Canyon. We travel through the National Reserve ´Pampa Cañahuas`, the natural habitat of the Vicuñas. In Patapampa, the highest part of the road, we have a stop to try some Coca tea and observe these beautiful animals. We pass some colonial villages with typical churches and arrive in Chivay around midday. Optional visit to the hot springs `La Calera` in the afternoon. Night in hotel in Chivay.

Day 4 : Visit Cruz del Condor / Colca Canyon
We start early to travel along the rim of the canyon to visit the ´Cruz del Condor` where we enjoy the view and observe the impressive Condors flying over the canyon. Afterwards we go for a walk and visit traditional villages and Inka terraces. At 1 pm we take a tour bus from Chivay to Puno, with stops at Pampa Cañahuas, Bosque de Piedras, Lagunillas Lake und Sillustani towers. Arrival to Puno in the late afternoon, transfer to your Hotel.

Day 5 : Boat tour to the islands on Lake Titicaca, Amantani Island
After breakfast we start with the transfer to the port. Here we embark on our 2 day boat tour on the highest navigable lake of the world (3800m; 12,500ft). First we visit the floating Uros Islands with its typical totora reed boats. Afterwards we continue our journey to the island of Amantani. Our guide takes us to our host family, who provides a basic room. We have a traditional dinner and can enjoy typical music with our host family.

Day 6 : Visit to Taquile Island and return to Puno
After breakfast we continue our boat trip to Taquile Island. We can enjoy the impressive view of the Lake and the Cordillera Real. This island is famous for its knitting men and we can see a choice of handcrafted caps, shawls and other cloths. We can also take some time to see the agricultural acitivities on the island. In the afternoon return to Puno, arrival at the port and transfer to your hotel.

Day 7 : Tour from Puno to Cusco
Morning transfer to the bus station for your guided bus tour over the highlands to Cusco. During the tour we have sightseeing stops at Pukara, Raqchi, la Raya and Andahuaylillas and for lunch. Arrival in Cusco at 5 pm. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 8 : Cusco City & 4 Ruins Tour
After breakfast we start our Cusco City tour and visit to the nearby Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Puka Pukara and Tambo Machay. The stones of Sacsayhuaman fortress are very impressive and we get a great view of Cusco. Afternoon briefing for your Inka Trail or Andean Trek, Hotel.

Day 9 : Inka Trail : Cusco to Huayllabamba Or: Andean Trek to Machu Picchu
Today we start early and drive to the starting point of the 4 day Inka Trail to Machu Picchu, at km 84 or to the starting point of the Lares Trek or Salkantay Trek (both 4 days).
In the afternoon we reach our first camp.
The cook welcomes us with a hot drink and a snack.

Day 12 : Visit of the Machu Picchu Citadel and Return to Cusco
Wake up tea and breakfast, to then walk down for about 1½ hours to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and observe the sunrise above Machu Picchu. The first rays of the sun reach Machu Picchu at about 6:30 to 7 am. Then we walk down to the ruins (2,400 m); where we arrive at about 8.00 am and stow our backpacks away at the entrance. We now have a guided tour of the ruins (aprox. 2 hours) before more people arrive by train. After the tour you have some free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own, for example visit the Inka bridge or if you have some energy left you can climb Wayna Picchu (extra ticket needed). In the afternoon the return train to Cusco leaves from Aguas Calientes town (below Machu Picchu). Today you buy your own lunch in Aguas Calientes (economic) or in a hotel close to the ruins (expensive). Transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 13 : Tour of the Sacred Valley of the Inkas
After breakfast we leave for a day tour to the Sacred Valley to visit Pisac ruins and market, the Church in Chinchero and the Fortress of Ollantaytambo. The guide explains the sites and gives information about the life of the Incas and today´s life. We have a stop for lunch (not included).

Day 14 : Start of Manu National Park Tour (7 Days) : Cusco – Cloud Forest - Bamboo Lodge
Early pickup at your hotel in Cusco for our tour to the Manu National Park.
We begin our 8 hour journey by private bus ascending to the high mountain area at 4000 m. After a short stop in Ninamarca, to see the pre-Inca cemetery, and the colonial village of Paucartambo, we descend the eastern slopes of the Andes through cloud forest with lush vegetation. We enjoy spectacular views of the Andes and can see wildlife such as our national bird: the bright red Cock of the Rocks showing his mating dance. Brilliantly coloured Tanagers, Quetzals, Trogons and Hummingbirds can be seen and possibly the first monkeys, such as Woolly Monkeys. In the afternoon we arrive at Bamboo Lodge (950m), where we spend the night.

Day 15 : Bamboo Lodge - Atalaya and Travel Downriver to Hummingbird Lodge
After an early breakfast we continue with our minibus to the small port of Atalaya (600 m). On the way we stop at an animal rescue station and at a local orchid garden. We also go on a walk along the road to look for monkeys and birds. From Atalaya we navigate for about 5 hours in a 15-meter motorized canoe down the Alto Madre de Dios River. Today we enjoy the changing landscape passing by the Pantiacolla mountains and have the opportunity to see wildlife along the rocky banks of the river, such as Fasciated Tiger Herons, Skimmers, Kingfishers, Vultures, caimans and some of the 13 species of monkeys that live in Manu. In the afternoon we reach Hummingbird Lodge, where we spend the night. Evening night walk to see insects, frogs, snakes etc.

Day 16 : Hummingbird Lodge to Albergue Casa Matsiguenka/ Manu River
Today we start early to continue our boat ride travelling into the Reserved Zone of Manu Park. We reach the mouth of the Manu River and after a stop at Limonal Park Station, where our permit is checked, we travel upriver into the heart of Manu. During this boat trip the scenery and wildlife viewing along the banks of the Manu River is fabulous. White Caimans (Caiman crocodylus) sunning on the beaches, turtles, capybara and plenty of colourful birds may bee seen. And there is always the possibility of seeing larger animals such as Tapir and Jaguar. In the afternoon we arrive at Albergue Casa Matsiguenka, where we spend two nights.

Day 17 : Exploring Cocha Salvador and Otorongo / Manu Park.
Today we leave early for a day excursion to explore trails through virgin forest of the Reserved Zone of Manu Park. As a highlight we visit the beautiful oxbow-lake Cocha Salvador by catamaran looking for Giant River Otters (Pteronura brasiliensis) and to observe caimans, monkeys, hoatzins and other birds. In the afternoon we go for a walk on the trails of the opposite side of the river. We climb the 18 m observation tower overlooking Cocha Otorongo – an ideal place to observe birds. After a final walk through this biodiverse forest we return to Albergue Matsiguenka, where we have the chance to meet the Machiguenga Indians. Optional night walk.

Day 18 : Casa Matsiguenka to Maquisapayoj Lodge
We start at first light to travel 6 hours down the Manu River. Dawn and dusk are ideal to see wildlife on the river banks. Capybaras, caimans, birds and with luck one of the big cats may be seen. We make a short stop in Boca Manu village, the main settlement in Manu called after the confluence of the sediment rich Manu River with the wider Madre de Dios River. Further downriver we reach Maquisapayoj Reserve (Place of the Black Spider Monkey”, home to numerous monkey species, including the rare Tamarin Monkey and Monk Saki Monkey. After a short rest we go for a walk to the mammal salt lick, where we look for monkeys, deer and other animals who visit the lick. After returning to the lodge we explore the forest on a night walk to see insects, frogs, snakes etc., optional night on the platform at the salt lick.

Day 19 : Big Macaw Clay Lick & Maquisapayoj Tapir Lick
At daybreak we take the boat to the big Macaw Clay Lick in Blanquillo. From a platform we have an excellent view to observe flocks of colourful macaws (Ara chloroptera, Ara macao), parrots and parakeets congregating to eat the clay, which is essential for their digestion. Looking through the spotting scope we can see all the birds´ details. Breakfast at the blind. After the spectacle we travel upstream to return to Maquisapayoj. Later we walk into primary rainforest for about 1 ½ hours to the Mammal Salt Lick, where we spend the night on an elevated platform (with mats and mosquito nets) to observe tapirs or other mammals during the night. Your guide will help spotting the tapir with a light. If you prefer you can spend the night in double rooms at the lodge close to the river.

Day 20 : Boat Travel to Colorado and Back to Cusco
After breakfast at the lodge we travel downriver by boat to Colorado (2 ½ hours), a small gold mining town. Together with the guide we take a car to Puerto Carlos (1 hour). We cross Rio Inambari to the small town of Santa Rosa, where our bus is waiting for us to drive back to Cusco. We travel on the paved Transoceanica through cloud forest and up to the Andes, with a spectacular view of the Ausangate Mountain. We arrive in Cusco in the evening; transfer to your hotel.

Day 21 : Free Day to Sightsee Cusco
Today you can enjoy a free day in Cusco and visit markets or look for souvenirs or you can do an

Day 22 : Flight to Lima and Travel to Nasca
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival transfer to the bus terminal and bus to Nasca. We travel to the south of Lima and through the coastal desert with ocasional views of the Pacific. Arrival in Nasca in the afternoon and transfer to your Hotel.

Day 24 : Boat Tour to Ballestas Islands and Return to Lima
After breakfast we start the boat tour to the Ballestas island to observe birds and sea lions.
Around noon return to Lima and transfer to the airport. Flight home.
