Day 1 : Arrival
You will be met at Durban Airport and transferred 1.5-hours to the old British colonial capital of Pietermaritzburg in the beautiful Natal Midlands.
Check into your hotel and relax under warm blue South African skies.
Day 2 : Comrades Marathon
Today is free to acclimatise as you prepare for the Comrades Marathon.
Relax at your hotel or explore Pietermaritzburg independently.
Day 3 : Comrades Marathon
Today register for the Comrades Marathon – which at 55 miles (89 km) is one of the world’s premier ultra-marathons renowned for its test of human endurance and the comradeship it engenders between runners.
Your driver will assist you in collecting your race number, provide transport to familiarise you with the route and discuss any logistical support you may require on race day.
Day 4 : Pietermaritzburg City Hall
Rise early for your transfer to Pietermaritzburg City Hall before the cock crows for the 05.30 starting gun. Feel the excitement and trepidation of your fellow runners, as you taking on one of the greatest ultra-marathon challenges in the world – running from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
This historic race, which is renowned as much for its comradeship as for its extreme physical challenge, is run from “gun-to-gun” – with a 12-hour “drop-dead” cut-off at 17h30. Those not meeting intermediate cut-off stages will be obliged to board the rescue bus. The “Big Five” hills you will need to conquer on the down run are Polly Shorts, Inchanga, Bothas Hill, Fields Hill and Cowies Hill. Your driver will provide your pre- and post-race transfers, as well as any other logistical support you may require.
Throughout the race, friendly crowds will be lining the streets cheering you on, and willing you to the finish line in Durban. Whether you win gold, silver or bronze – this will be a race you will remember for a lifetime.

Day 5 : Nambiti Hills Game Reserve
Today transfer 3-hours through the rolling hills of the Natal Midlands and Ladysmith, to the malaria-free Big Five Nambiti Hills Game Reserve.
Check into your safari lodge and enjoy a thrilling afternoon open-top game drive with your lodge ranger.
Day 6 : Nambiti Hills Game Reserve
Rise early when game viewing conditions are at their best, for a thrilling open-top game drive with a lodge ranger in Nambiti Hills Game Reserve.
With a mixed vegetation of savanna grasslands, indigenous trees and bushveld, this wildlife conservation area is home to all the Big Five, as well as offering an ideal habitat for a large variety of antelope and abundant bird life. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, before returning to the bushveld in the late afternoon for another game drive.
Day 7 : North Coast
After a final early morning safari, transfer 3-hours to your hotel on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal, renowned for its wonderful beaches and reliably warm weather all year round.
Check in and relax in your lush sub-tropical surroundings on the shores of the Indian Ocean.
Day 8 : Durban North Coast
At leisure to relax on the warm golden beaches of the Durban North Coast.
Many optional activities are available such as a marine cruise to search for dolphins, turtles, sharks, whales (in season) and other fascinating sea life. Championship golf, horse riding and deep sea game fishing are also available.
Day 9 : Durban North Coast
At leisure to relax on the warm golden beaches of the Durban North Coast.
