This mini trip is definitely about two of the most important volcanic places in Ecuador combined with the mixture of lush forest, waterfalls and hot springs.
Day 1 :
Your guide will be happy to meet you at your hotel at 8 AM and take you on this 3-day private mini trip to three very important and popular tourist destinations in Ecuador. On our first day we will make a visit to one of the most beautiful crater lakes of the country, which will take us about 3 hours approximately. On our way we have a great opportunity to explore a traditional indigenous fruit & vegetable market, which are still held by locals on certain days (it depends on the day itself if you are able to visit one of these markets).
Upon arrival at the Quilotoa Lake we will first make a visit to the viewpoint, from where you will have a stunning view of the 3-kilometre wide greenish lake and the surrounding mountains. This will also be the starting point for the adventurous hike downhill towards the lake, which will take about 30 minutes. You can either choose to hike back up for about an hour or rent a mule at the lake.
Back at the top of the crater we will make our way up to Lasso, which will take about 2 hours approximately. Your hotel for tonight will be located near the entrance of the Cotopaxi National Park. Upon arrival you have some time to relax after this fun and adventurous day. At night dinner will be served at the restaurant of the hotel.
Day 2 :
After breakfast it will take us less than 10 minutes to reach the entrance of the Cotopaxi National Park. The Cotopaxi is still an active and almost perfect stratovolcano with an altitude of 5.897 meters above sea level. From the entrance we will make two stops until reaching the parking lot at 4.500 meters. First stop: The Cotopaxi Museum and Visitor Center. Second stop: the Limpiopungo Lake.
The parking lot will be out starting point for the unique and adventurous hike up the volcano. The ultimate challenge will be to reach the Jose F. Ribas Refuge, which is situated 200 meters higher. (If the weather doesn't permit this hike, we will make a hike around the beautiful Limpiopungo Lake).
After this adventurous hike you will make your way to Baños, which will take us about 2 hours approximately. After making the check-in you can relax in the natural hot springs nearby, known for their healing properties due to various minerals.
Day 3 :
On our last day we will start with the exploration of the town visiting the pretty cathedral and try some of Baños’s famous‘Melcocha’ candy made out of sugar cane. We continue with the waterfall route, which has many beautiful waterfalls to observe such as the Agoyan and Manto de la Novia. On this route we can also observe one of the biggest waterfalls of the area; the Pailon del Diablo. A 20 minute hike will take you to a suspension bridge from where you will have a great view of this impressive waterfall. Besides you can choose to climb up even further to stand on one of the three platforms to have a more closed up view.
In the afternoon you will make your way back to Quito where the guide will leave you at your hotel.
