Soak up the bars and cafes on Long Street before the smell of Malaycurry fills the air in Bo-Kaap with its mosques and coloured houses. Return to the exclusive Waterfront Marina Yacht Basin for a glass of sparkling wine and gourmet canapes at the famous Bascule Bar as the sun sinks below Table Mountain! It's the Eco-Active adventure of a lifetime - so what are you waiting for?
After a trip introduction and briefing we transfer to Khayelitsha Township on the outskirts of Cape Town. With an estimated 1.5 million inhabitants, Khayelitsha is South Africa's single largest township and means 'New Home' in the Xhosa language. We begin our tour at a cycling academy which gives children from this community a chance to be engaged after school hours. We stop at Lookout Hill and climb to the top of this panoramic viewpoint before visiting an informal settlement comprised of tin shack dwellings. Continue past the train station, local shopping centre, spaza shops selling groceries, home styled hairdressers and many more fascinating sights and sounds. We are then transferred back to Cape Town. Spend the afternoon at leisure, exploring Cape Town’s Waterfront.
Constantia is one of Cape Town’s most sought after suburbs and was initially a private estate occupied by Simon van der Stel, governor of the Cape Colony, in the late 17th century. Wine production began here as early as 1685, shortly after the Dutch occupation of the Cape. Originally one estate, this farm was divided after van der Stel’s death in 1712 and is now home to seven wine producers, each one unique but sharing the same commitment to preserving the fine wines and rich heritage of their predecessors. Our adventure starts in the country’s oldest estate which dates to 1685 and is often referred to as “the birthplace of South African wine”. Historic manor houses and museums pay testament to the heritage of this region, we have a private cellar tour and wine tasting here. We cycle through the vineyards with panoramic views over the valley and False Bay. We stop at a number of renowned estates, with the chance to meet the sommelier and sample some of the best wines, including the notable Vin de Constance, which was personally requested by Napoleon Bonaparte! The Constantia valley not only boasts South Africa’s oldest vineyards but plays host to an array of award-winning restaurants that are consistently voted among the best in the world. We shall enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch, showcasing the delicacies of the region, combined with world-class wines and the signature “method cap classique”, enjoyed in the most scenic of locations.
