This six day trek takes you into an area adorned with a multitude of pristine, crystal clear lakes. As you walk amidst the shimmering lakes you’ll be treated to stunning views of the entire Himalayan mountain range and some of the world’s highest peaks including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, Gangche Ta and many more.
During the trek an entire day will be dedicated to visiting some of the more picturesque lakes, fishing and resting. The trail also takes you through several Bhutanese villages so you can get a good idea of traditional Bhutanese village life as you make your way back from the lakes.
While this is a somewhat strenuous trek, it is well worth the effort because of the tranquility and beauty of natural landscape that you will enjoy during the journey.Both International & domestic Flight fares.

Day 1 : Arrive in Paro - Thimphu
Altitude: 2280m
Distance: 55km.
Estimated time: 1 ½ hours.
You will be welcome by our representatives at International airport. After completing customs & Immigration formalities, drive to capital city Thimphu and check in hotel.
After lunch in hotel, Visit National Memorial Chorten ,built in 1974 in the memory of Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.Takin Reserve, the National Animal of Bhutan, (budorcas taxicolor/ Drong Gyemtse’.) is found and radio tower, it offers splendid views of the city from a hilltop festooned with prayer flags.In the evening visit Tashichhodzong, the “fortress of the glorious religion", built in 1641. It houses His Majesty’s Secretariat and the Central Monk Body. Across the river you can see the National Assembly building. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.
Day 2 : Gynekha - Gur. (TREK BEGIN )
Campsite: Altitude 3,290m.
Distance: 7 km.
Estimated time: 5 hours.
Trek road type: 550 m ascent & 210 m descent.
The trek starts at beautiful Gynekha village and begins with a short descent to the river. After crossing the river you start climbing until you reach a huge rock platform from where you have a picturesque view of the valley below. After another 2 hours you will reach Gur, an area of yak pastures located just below the main trail.
Day 3 : Gur - Labatama
Campsite: Altitude 4,300m.
Distance: 12 km.
Estimated time: 5 hours.
Trek road type: 1,220 m ascent & 110 m descent.
On the second day, the trail takes you across the high ridges from where you can truly appreciate the rugged beauty of your surroundings and the mountain vegetation. The path winds through refreshing meadows adorned with wild flowers and asparagus (in spring). The first mountain pass you cross is marked by a huge cairn and gives a spectacular view kanjenjunga
(Sikkim) and a numbers of Bhutanese Himalayan peaks. As you descend the pass you will be able to see the entirety of the Dagala mountain range including meadows and the yak herder camps. Once you have descended into the Labatama valley you can begin climbing gradually through the valley, passing several yak herder huts before you arrive at Uthtso Tsho. The campsite right to next to the lake.
Day 4 : Labatama
This day will be dedicated to relaxing and recuperating at Labatama. It is an ideal to take an excursion to any of three nearby lakes: Reli Tsho, Hen Tsho and Jama Tsho. Hikers are encouraged to take the opportunity to engage in some trout fishing as the location is ideal.
Day 5 : Labatama - Panka
Campsite: Altitude 4,000m.
Distance: 8 km.
Estimated time: 6-7 hours.
Trek road type: 260m ascent & 520m descent.
The trail climbs along the western side of Dala Tsho up to a saddle at 4,520m. From here onwards you will have a fantastic view of the majestic Himalayan peaks all through the descent. The mountain peaks visible include Mt. Everest ( Nepal). Mt. Kanchenjuga (Sikkim), Mt. Jomolhari, Mt. Jichu Drake, Mt. Tshering Gang, Mt. Khangbum, Mt. Masang Gang, Mt. Tsende Gang and Mt. Gangche Ta. If you want an even better view, you can climb a peak close to the saddle with an altitude of 4720m. From the saddle the saddle the path descends, passing some yak herder huts to Doccha Chhu. You follow the river for while, but stay higher up on the slope to reach the Panka with ascents and descends along the way.
Day 6 : Panka - Talakha
Campsite: Altitude 3,080m.
Distance: 8 km.
Estimated time: 5-6 hours.
Trek road type: 180m ascent & 110m descent,
This day entails the crossing of several passes but none of them require a major climb. You should keep your eyes open for different varieties of blue poppy (June-July) and mountain birds while in this area. After crossing the last pass, Tale La (4180m) you start a long descend to Talakha Gompa. You will camp right beside the monastery and wake up to the early morning prayers of the monks. From here you be treated to a great view of Bhutan’s capital Thimphu.
Day 7 : Talakha - Chamgang
Distance 6 km.
Estimated time: 3 hours.
Trek road type: 440m descent.
From the monastery it’s a short walk down to the feeder road which will lead you to the village of Chamgang. Drive to Thimphu, check in hotel.Afternoon vist National Library, established in 1960 where an ancient texts and manuscripts are preserved.National Institute of Zorig Chusum, (commonly known as the Painting School), where a six-year training course is given in the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. Institute of Traditional Medicines Services, where the medicinal herbs abundant in the kingdom are compounded and dispensed.Textile Museum, which provides an excellent introduction about the techniques, style of various textiles woven in the country along with exhibition of the national dress ‘gho’ for men and ‘kira’ for women.Handicraft Emporium, which offers a wide range of colourful, hand woven textiles and other products.Centenary Farmer Vegetable Market, colorful market full of local produce and handicrafts, if your visit falls Friday to Sunday. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.
Day 8 : Thimphu - Punakha.
Altitude:1280m.
Distance: 71km.
Estimated time:2 hours.
Morning visit Semtokha Dzong,built in 1627 and it is the oldest Dzong in the country and now houses the School for Buddhist Studies. Stop at Dochula ( altitude 3088m) , drive 23km from Thimphu which will take about 45 minutes where you can enjoy the viewpoint of Eastern Himalayas. The 108 chortens was built by the present Queen Mother of Bhutan Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Indian militants and to liberate the souls of the soldiers lost. Afternoon Visit Punakha Dzong,The ancient capital of Bhutan and now winter residence of Chief Abbot (Je Khempa), built in the year 1637. Visit majestic Wangdue Dzong and interesting local market.
Day 9 : Punakha to Phobjikha
Altitude: 2993m.
Distance: 88km.
Estimated time:3 hours.
Morning short expedition Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten (stupa), 3 hours round trip: One of the only such chorten in the world, constructed in 1992.Afternoon drive to Phobjikha, after visiting Chhimi Lhakhang, Built in 1499 by the 14th Drukpa, Ngawang Choegyel. Temple renowned for its fertility blessings. Overnight hotel in Phobjikha.
Day 10 : Phojikha to Paro
Distance: 190km.
Estimated time: 6 hours.
Morning explore Phobjikha valley to view magnificent bird,The Black Neck Crane”.These endangered birds fly south from Siberia.Visit to the rural community in Phobjikha .Afternoon visit Gangtey Gompa. The oldest and largest Nyingma Bhuddist centre, established in 1613 by the first Peling Gyalsé Rinpoche. In evening journey to Paro via Pele La_altitude3420m, boundary between western and central Bhutan. Overnight hotel in Paro.
Day 11 : Short trek to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger Nest).
To get starting point, you will have to drive 11km to reach the parking lot and for the trip may take 5 hours. Somewhat arduous adventure for the day, ascending the 915m cliff to reached the most spectacularly located temple in all Bhutan. It perched atop on a cliff at 2950m, built in 1692 by Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye. Though the climb up through the pine forest is steep, the journey is most worthwhile on account of the super views. Overnight hotel in Paro. Afternoon drive to Chele La pass (altitude 3720m), it is 40 km from Paro which may take 1 hour drive. A favorite place for many visitors, it is the highest motorable pass in the country. For naturalists, the ridge offers the gardens of Himalayan flowers, plants and of special pleasant species. From the top you can sport the Kela Dechen Yangtse, a nunnery perched on the opposite hillside with prayer flags lining. Overnight hotel in Paro.
Day 12 : International departure from Paro
