  The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway started in 1881 and is also an outstanding railway line for passenger transportation in the mountains. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is one of the earliest railways in India, and it is also one of the few alpine railways still in operation in India. It adopts bold and innovative engineering construction to solve the problem of building a railway through the alpine natural scenic area, and still fully utilizes and retains the integrity of the original features of the area. The total length of the railway is about 60-80 kilometers. It takes about 8 hours for this railway to climb from Siliguri (an ancient city on the Indian plain) at an altitude of 120 meters to Darjeeling at an altitude of 2075 meters. It is still used and produced between 1889 and 1925. ancient steam locomotive.
